A forest of eternal autumn. A horse that can fly without wings. A wizard trapped inside a dark curse. Three brave heroines who risk everything to save the ones they love.
In a forest of eternal autumn, two sisters with vastly different temperaments make a pact with a magic song that will change their lives forever.
A girl with a wild spirit and a wonderful gift of song befriends a special horse that can fly without wings, but when its rarity places it in grave danger, the girl will stop at nothing to save her new friend.
Romance blooms between a mysterious healer with a notorious reputation for breaking girls' hearts and the young lady who loves him enough to do everything in her power to set him free from the dark curse trapping him.
These three magical tales weave together to craft The Chronicles of the Mira, perfect for fans of Narnia, fairy tales, and Diana Wynne Jones.
The Amielian Legends is a collection of stand-alone young adult books, all set in the same fantastic universe, that can be read in any order. Read The Chronicles of the Mira to discover new worlds filled with whimsical magic, adventure, and diverse characters today!
Hullo there, dear reader! Christine E. Schulze here, author of YA fantasy, as well as a few kids’ books about special needs. I’ve been living in castles, exploring magical worlds, and creating fantastical romances and adventures since I was too young to even write of such stories. My collection of YA and children's fantasy books, The Amielian Legacy, is comprised of series and stand-alone books that can all be read separately but also weave together to create a single, amazing fantasy.
One of my main aspirations for The Amielian Legacy is to create grand fantasy adventures with characters that connect with readers from diverse backgrounds. My current focus is to include racially diverse characters, as well as those with disabilities. The latter is inspired by my day job working with adults who have autism and other developmental disabilities at Trinity Services in Southern Illinois.
I draw much of my inspiration from favorite authors like Tolkien and Diana Wynne Jones, favorite games like The Legend of Zelda, and especially from the people in my life. Some of my exciting ventures include the publication of my award-winning Bloodmaiden, as well as The Gailean Quartet, my first series with Words Matter Publishing. My books for younger readers include In the Land of Giants and The Amazing Captain K.
I love connecting with new raeders! Come find me on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, or at my author website: http://authorchristineschulze.com
On that note, God bless, happy reading, and may you be truly inspired! I’ll see you in my next book.
Three short stories, tied together. The story starts with two half sister's Autumn and Summer eventually fighting for the throne to see who would be Queen. Continuing on we meet a princess who can tame and befriend the animals, especailly a special "horse" with her music. Finally is a love match struggling through until the ultimate sacrifice brings the two together. Wonderful stories.
So, I've read three pieces of work by this author so far and have enjoyed every one of them, so when I did my most recent spending spree, this book and another one wound up being purchased.
I very much enjoyed each of the stories. There's that sense of the much bigger world... it's almost like a jigsaw puzzle, except maybe where each piece is a picture in its own right... but you put them together and they form a massively amazing portrait.
I actually used to find it somewhat difficult to get into short stories, mainly because (I think) I grew up reading full-length novels. When I was fairly young, my Grandma vetoed one of my mother's books as being unsuitable because it dealt with a woman's young daughter having been murdered. And I once read four books (including Watership Down) in a week for a Guides badge.
I'm glad I'm getting more into short stories, otherwise I would have missed some truly amazing ones. The first story ended pretty sadly and I was quite disappointed, even though I understood why it had to end that way. Somehow, I always hold out hope that the good guys will triumph... but I think it's good that they don't always. I just like the HEA.
The reason this book has five stars instead of the four based on the fact that I wasn't too keen on the ending is because the other two stories more than made up for it. I found the zilchus absolutely fascinating and the clear link between the first two stories is interesting. (I'm actually assuming that, timeline-wise, the second story comes before the first... simply because my mind wants to believe that the zilchus in Autumn's story is Flashling).
I do think that, out of the three stories, the third one was my favourite. It was more like a novella than a short story and I found myself really getting interested in the characters. The whole concept was a fairly unique one and I thought that the two main characters were really well-written and came across as very likable people.
It might take me a while, but I'm absolutely determined that, eventually, I will read all the books by this author I can get my hands on.
Christine has out done herself in this delicious collection of stories. They echo so clearly the story of our Lord and Savior and his Advicery Lucifer that it would make a wonderful children's bible school, or Sunday School book. In the beginning it tells of two sisters, one who wanted total control of her kingdom and one who out of love desires to rule with love and combine two kingdoms into one whole in the service of Amiel the Lord. The story continues with a humble seamstress who meets and falls in love with a young man from the neighboring country, who had a very tarnished reputation in his village. Even through the scorn, ridicule and trials of their relationship, the love never fails. Even when it turns to an almost impossible task her love for this young man overcomes all, just as the Saviors love will help us to overcome all that occurs in our lives if we but love and have faith in Him. I am so touched by this book that I thank Heaven above, and Christine for the opportunity to read and review it for myself as much as for others. I know I learned a great lesson and hope everyone will take the advantage to read and learn for themselves. If I could have given it more than five stars I definately would have!!
The Chronicles of Mira has but one fault... it ended too soon. The tales could certainly stretch on for miles (or at least several hundred pages) as they are filled with rich lands of Iridescence and the Vale, and rich characters of the Mira and Scintillates. The Third Chronicle was my favorite--as another reader wrote, it is similar to Beauty and the Beast--followed by the First Chronicle. Honestly, the Second I could have done without, but perhaps I just thought this one was not as well-written as the others.
Wish I could learn more about Mira and the Scintillates! Would make an excellent series I'm sure.
The three stories are nice. I'm not sure if the placing of the first two stories before the last was the best though. Because, the beginning of the third story explains about the Scintillate and people of Mira. I was a bit lost when it came to the reference to Amiel in the first story. I had to back track and try to figure out if I missed a reference to Amiel. I wish there was a little bit more details placed in reference to Amiel, the Scintillate, Mira and in random areas in the stories. But, besides that I found it a enjoyable book. I love fairytale type stories and these were very good.
I loved this book. It really is a shining example of good Christian writing. I absolutely loved the last story in this series as it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast. As soon as I get home from work I am going to purchase some of the other books that Christine has written. Thank you Christine for showing me another wonderful world. I now have another place to go to other than Middle Earth and Narnia.
Thanks to the author, Christine Schulze, for providing me with a free copy of "The Chronicles of the Mira". I don't very often read short stories as they are over too soon. These 3 stories, though short, are so well done I was kept interested and entertained.
My favorite of the three stories is "The Third Chronicle: Alastair's Cottage".
Thanks again Christine for providing me with a free copy of your book.
I came across Autumn Falls, part of this book, in the author's Time Dancers and other Fantastical Tales anthology. This review is for Autumn Falls.
This beautiful story has a great idea, and runs with it. A girl who is treated in a Cinderella type manner by her step-family, despite her royal blood, magical songs that can summon creatures and turn the seasons, and a love story interrupted by a terrible calamity. A heartbreaking story with a core of bravery and magic -- and love.
It was so beautifully written. All the stories were in my opinion amazing they each had love and fantasy in it which I adore and the last one had me crying. If a book can make me cry it is definitely an amazing story. It deserves 5 stars.
I think that this book was very good for reading at night because the chapters are not suspenseful. It's well written and has somewhat vague descriptions so each reader can see the same character differently. The reason I doesn't get five stars from me is that it starts very slowly.
The three stories were inspiring and woven together by similar themes. The stories were essentially well written fables about the Mira people. The stories also complemented each other as they provided insight about the themes such as magic, curses, and unicorns.
I loved these short chronicles about the Mira, they are stories of hope, and so much faith in Amie, that even when everything looks dark and without hope the characters never give up. Autumn, ends up giving up her own life to save the Mira, even when these people were not her own people but those of her beloved, whilst Amanda was ready to do anything to save her Zilchus from harm, and Grishilde was devastated when she thought that her kindness had endangered her beloved, but magic and Amiel turned the story around. However my favourite tale in these 4 short chronicles was definitely the tale about Alastair's magical cottage, the fairy who was put under a cursed spell, but who was finally redeemed by the courageous woman, Lily a scintillate seamstress, who never gave up on her true love. This story is one of resilience, perseverance, faith and hope but most of all it is one which shows clearly that true love always wins out. I love the positivity in these short tales which were so uplifitng and such a pleasure to read.
Audiobook: I enjoyed book 2 of "The Amielian Legends" series. It was a collection of short stories. Each story was different, but all were connected and seemed to be written like fairy tales with either magic, fantastical creatures, or curses. I liked all the stories, but the story which resonated the most with me was the one about the two sisters who made an agreement using a magical song. Jocelyn Duford's narration was good, and her performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
This is an ARC(Advanced Reading Copy) I received from the author Christine E. Schulze. From the moment I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. It is so engrossing and interesting to read. It is a collection of different stories that will take you to beautiful magical lands of fairies, kings, magicians, magical creatures and love. The stories are very, very interesting and beautiful. I recommend it to anyone who likes reading stories full of love and magic.
I suppose I started this book expecting a linear timeline but it's more like three separate and unrelated history/fairy tales from this world. The stories are beautiful, sometimes sad, and awe inspiring with their innocent magic. This would make a good book to read to kids as well as one enjoyed by lovers of fantasy and fairy tales. I received this book at no cost to me and all opinions are completely my own.
Recieved as an ARC and really enjoyed the short stories. Pulled from a lot of other fairy tale stories weaved into a new and wonderous fantasy. With twists you don't see coming these stories take you on a journey with strong female characters. Would recommend for anyone who loves fantasy and fairytales.
Book was beautifully written, the details of it made it seem as if I was watching everything happen in front of me. I loved everything of this book. So much creativity in it. Enjoyed all of the stories in this book.
The three stories are beautiful, I even shed a tear at Autumn's story. Christine is a master of description, I felt like I was there in her world. I'm fairly out of the YA age range at 28 but I still loved these and think they are suitable for all ages.
What a sweet and wholesome YA collection of stories! It's a lovely fairy-tale world if interconnected situations that span time. There are happy endings, heart-touching moments, and very descriptive writing.
this was enchanting.. romantic.. sweet and sexy.. it was a lot of fun to read.. hope and love... faith and happiness.. so many amazing this going on and i enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed these short stories. I found them fun even at my age. Christine has very good writing skills. I will read more of her books in the near future.
This book contained three short stories, all related to Mira. I liked the way each individual story could be stand alone stories. Each story was different, but took place in Mira.
I was sent the e book by voracious readers only. I took my awhile to get into but the thing I enjoyed most about it was the vivid imagery I got from reading each story.
A fantastic 👏 👌 set of short stories in this novel. In this set you get three different tales of a magical world. Each tale is about the adventure of doing what's right. The characters in each book were strong and knew what needed to be done all in the end. The plot of each was great too. You will read of a fight between two princesses who are sister's, a princess with a unique power to tame unicorns, and last, but not least a very sweet romance with a tiny little twist in it.
I liked a lot of this book. I enjoyed the characters. The three different stories contained selfless, brave, and strong women. There was romance, magic, and so much more. I think a lot of others will enjoy these stories too. This is the second book I have read by this author and I am sure I will end up reading more in the future. I would recommend it to those who enjoy fantasies.
