The popular gender-bender romance is now reissued as a 3-in-1 omnibus!
Mizuki Ashiya has such a crush on a track star named Izumi Sano that she moves from the U.S. to Japan to enroll in the all-male high school he goes to! Pretending to be a boy, Mizuki becomes Sano’s roommate…but how can she keep such a big secret when she’s so close to the guy she wants?
Mizuki has started modeling for the famous photographer Akiha Hara, but is he on to the fact that she’s a girl? Later, Mizuki travels home to America only to find Sano and Nakatsu are there too! Sano seems to be getting along with her dad, but can Mizuki get through this visit without her family revealing her secret?!
Reads R to L (Japanese Style) for teen plus audiences.
Hisaya Nakajo (中条比紗也) was a Japanese shōjo manga artist. She also used the names Peco Fujiya and Ryou Fumizuki for doujinshi with her circle, Daisanteikoku.
Idk but these 3 volumes felt like they dragged on! I didn’t care for the modeling arc… like how many more people will find out Mizuki is a girl and not tell her??? Lol Then there was a weird ghost story that felt out of place (felt like a Halloween episode of late 90s-early 2000s sitcoms lol)… And then the Christmas dance! I did like most of that arc. Nakao was KILLING ME!!! He was being such a diva HAHA! Then finally, Mizuki went back to America.. and Mr. Gil shows up.. I CALLED THAT when I read that side story a volume or so back… And then on top of that, Sano and Nakatsu are there too on a random field trip … oh lord! I’m just ready for Mizuki to reveal her secret already… Idk if I can take 10-12 more volumes!!! WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?! Forreal tho lol
It doesn't seem to have an impact to the overall storyline, but I especially enjoyed reading about this one. I like this the most, I think. And the "back story" was interesting too. I wish it could have extended or explored more!
On another note, I'm starting to see Sano's (the lead guy) charm. I like him more than Nakatsu ("second lead") na. Or maybe there's just less exposure for Nakatsu. Haha! But most of the times, it's the "loud" ones who end up being the "bff" right? 😅
Bringing in a "fourth member" for a "love square" should be interesting....
*4.5/5 (SPOILERS) Eek, so many exciting things happened in these volumes! There was their modeling gig, the school dance, and then Mizuki going back to America. Everything was just so entertaining! I really liked seeing all the different outfits included in these volumes. The modeling and school dance scenes were especially fun to look at. Watching Sano and Gilbert interact was also quite suspenseful.
Mizuki disguises herself as a boy in order to enrol in an all-boys boarding school. Why? To help inspire her idol, Sano, to high jump again.
This volume focuses on a photoshoot with a famous photographer, a haunted mansion, a co-ed Christmas dance, and Mizuki's trip home to America.
Firstly, this took me way too long to read. I've had a bit of a reading slump recently, I guess.
Secondly, the further along in manga series I get, the harder I find them to review without spoiling everything. But I'll do my best.
I still love how the characters are developing. :) I do admit that I am a bit sketchy on a lot of the secondary characters' names though, because they kind of pop in and out. Not all of them, obviously, but there are a few who are around a lot yet haven't had a lot of time devoted to them personally. Especially Sekime and Noe. I forget their names over and over. Though maybe I'll remember them now that I've written them down.
I love how Mizuki and Sano's relationship is progressing, but !
I'm not sure what to make of Gil, also. I like him, but at the same time the fangirl in me is screaming 'get away from my ship!'. Hahaha.
And also, Umeda's dad is one of the most attractive men in this manga so far. Seriously.
I'm halfway through this series now (it feels like I should be a lot further) and I'm wondering just how much more plot there could possibly be. I'm guessing we need to find out a lot more about Sano and Sano's family, there will be a lot more of Gil (though he doesn't speak Japanese so that could be tough...), and also I'm guessing there will be a whole lot more shenanigans before the end. :)
Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to the ride.
