Walt Disney by Joanne Mattern is a children's biography also know as a "Rookie Biography". This book is best for children ages 6-10 year old.

This book is so fun because it gives a glimpse into the life of Walt Disney, from a standpoint that children can appreciate and stay focus. This book walks us through a summary of Walt's life and shares lots of interesting facts about the making of Disney. Considering that most children loves Disney programs , this is a great way to get them interested in learning about the man behind it all.I love how the illustration and fonts are very big and bright to keep kids interested. It is also fun to see actual old pictures of Walt's life and see what he was like when he was a child. Although some of the words in here are a little difficult, it provides a small glossary of words and pronunciation and the definition incase children are not sure of a word. This also helps expand their vocabulary which i especially love, I would use this in a classroom in a heart beat.

The quality of the story is quite simple considering it was made for second graders. Walt Disney is an obvious figure in history and we all know what he's known for, but I found it quite interesting that his short movie "Steamboat Willie" was considered the first cartoon to put sound with pictures. I was also uninformed that "Snow White" was his first full movie. Walt also brought REAL deer into the studio for his artists to study during the making of the film "Bambi". I thought those were interesting to find out. Walt died in 1966, but his legacy continues to live on. I never knew he had children until reading this and it makes me want to question if his children are still alive to this day? I looked that info, and it turns out they've both passed.

I think it's super important for kids to know where and how Disney came to be. Walt Disney was a famous artist and the creator of mickey mouse, disneyland, and disney world. This book is great for giving children the facts about Walt Disney's life. It mentions how he worked at the disney brothers studio where many of the disney characters were created. He was married and had two kids. It mentions how mickey mouse came to be and brought to life. I also did not know that snow white was his first movies created! Such a good biography book.

This short biography is perfect for the young reader. Large print, pictures, and fast facts about Walt fill the pages. Growing up, I loved all things Disney, but never knew the story behind the mouse. What I liked was the facts are short, but to the point. The last page has a glossary section, which is helpful for unknown words. The audience is intended for children learning to read, the print is large and bold, there are pictures and short sentences.

Walt Disney was a famous artist who created Mickey Mouse and created many cartoons and movies and even created two theme parks. As a young boy, Walt loved to draw and drew funny cartoons for all of his friends. He took night classes at an art school while he was still in high school. Walt and his brother, Roy, started their own animation studio. This book was all about his life and his major accomplishments.
