An erotic retelling of a timeless literary classic.
Jane Eyre has lived a sheltered, callous life. Orphaned at a young age and despised by her remaining family, she is shipped off to Lowood School and can only dream of tenderness and affection. Upon accepting a governess position at Thornfield Hall, a world of passion, desire, and sex explodes before her naive eyes in the form of the brooding, dashing master of the house: Mr. Rochester. After playful attempts to evade Mr. Rochester's advances, Jane finds herself succumbing to his savage, brutal lust and losing herself in the intense heat of her yearning. Jane believes that beneath Mr. Rochester's dark, handsome, and sometimes brutal exterior there must be a heart, and she is desperate to find love in his hungry caresses. But then, she discovers something in the attic . . . and her world is turned upside down forever.
In this cleverly retold classic, sex collides with corsets in a burst of erotic, mash-up fiction, bringing the searing heat of Fifty Shades of Grey to the dark secrets of one of literature's finest novels, Jane Eyre.
I was told coming into this novel that it was a mix between Jane Eyre and 50 Shades of Grey. Having read neither book, I was very much aware that I was not the intended audience for this piece. That being said, I am familiar enough with both works that I had a picture of what awaited me.
I must say that I feel...not disappointed...I feel misled. My book club members built-up this notion for me that I was about to read page after page of down and dirty gratuitous sex. This adaption of Jane Eyre is not what I would call "dirty". While there are explicit scenes, there is far more traditional Jane Eyre than not. I felt that Jane was not lusty; her sexual encounters followed her original thematic trait as simply being in need of human affection. The amount of actual sex was minimal, though in Jane Eyre purity I suppose even a little is a profound change. Though honestly I was expecting her to be on and ready to go all of the time, and was quite let down when nothing in the girl's school of Lowood led to girl-on-girl action; did I want to read that? Not so much, but I was expecting Jane Eyre unleashed. Certainly this was Jane Eyre sexualized, but she was in no way Jane Eyre whorified.
And I still don't like Rochester, no matter how alluring his bare chest is.
I enjoyed Jane Eyre, but this lovely retelling answered the question I have always had. Why did Jane Eyre fall so completely for this beast-like, mostly unattractive man? It is simply that Jane was addicted to sex and Mr. Rochester was the first guy to fulfill all her needs.
I will definitely be recommending this to people that like/love Jane Eyre, but only if they can handle some risqué scenes.
I'm done and I just can't get over the fact that they have completely changed her personality. Jane is supposed to be a product of her station in life: demure, quiet, etc. And then she's doing it with Mr. Rochester on a table. I'm sorry... I can't believe it. There had to have been a way to create this book, while not completely changing Jane Eyre's persona.
never reading Jane Eyre I was a bit lost on the real story but to me there wasn't enough sex. I felt like I was hearing a quick story of a classic with 3-4 sex scenes. at first this was a 2 star read. but the last couple of chapters bumped it up to 3. I couldn't help to laugh and a couple awww moments. maybe I should read the actual story one day :)
Do i have to rate it? Complete waste of time. How can people take great literature and completly change it to trash just so they can make a buck or Call oneself a writer? Sad.
Not so bad. It could be a horrible book with a lot of sex but it's a nice love story with a bit of sex; The relationship between Rochester and Jane is too simple.
An interesting book. I'm one of the few women alive who hasn't read Jane Eyre, which I probably should've done before reading this. The time period seemed spot on, but I found myself frustrated by some things that were probably true of that period. Still I rushed to finish and didn't mind how it ended so much.
You know, the original text was pretty sexy. This one . . . not so much. At least the parts by Bronte were well written! It was a joke gift from Scott and is actually worse than Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
A retelling of the classic novel Jane Eyre with added naughty bits. This didn't do much for me, mostly because I love the original work so much. Think I prefer it with the hint of passion and I'd rather leave Rochester's sex habits to my own imagination.
I'm surprised, but I actually liked this! But the bar was very low since the only other erotica I've read was 50 Shades of Grey, one of the worst books I've ever had the misfortune to read. Also it helps that most of this was just Jane Eyre.
Not the best addaptation but with scenes I wished were in the original ( even though it didnt fit Janes Character) I loved mr. Rochester so much in this book! <3
Sex collides with corsets in a burst of erotic ecstasy and dark secrets, and one of literature's finest novels will never be read the same again.

Jane Eyre is one of my favourites amongst the classics, so it was a no brainer to give the spicy version a go. I enjoyed the story as it was very similar to the original one, but it isn't very spicy at all. The steamy parts are far in between, quite predictable and felt half written. The author had to make a few changes to the core of the main story like Jane's age at the beginning of the story, so that the spicy part wouldn't be creepy. Unfortunately, the main feminist message from the main story isn't as strong here, even as she finds a away to explore her sexuality without guilt. Great narration. Free on plus catalogue audible.
Really fun! Sort of a shorter re-telling of the original story and with a couple of sex scenes in it. 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' was really about zombies and 'Android Karenina' was really with a lot of androids, this book has not that big of an amount of sex scenes as you would expect with this title. But the sex scenes are very well written, and quite in the atmosphere of the original book. The book still feels like the old classic version. Very nice!
Repetitive sex scenes with almost same procedure. Good characters not taken care of fully and love dropped because of silly reasons. You wont hurt if you altogether avoid it. This is the style employed in addressing the readers.
So I found this at a used book store and had to grab it. My favorite book is Jane Eyre. It was fun to see what changes would be made and I thought it was a humorous and nice to add some spice to parts of the book that made sense to me in my mind.
(3.5) I mean........... I was definitely expecting a little more kink. The cover is kinda misleading, but none the less the story of Jane Eyre is still amazing.
