The Goddess Collection, Volume One

Rate this book
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the House of Night Series, P.C. Cast, presents the first two riveting, sexy novels in the Goddess Summoning series, now in one volume…

Goddess of the Sea:  When her plane crashes into the ocean, Air Force Sergeant Christine Canady awakens in a legendary time and place ruled by magic—and in the body of the mythic mermaid Undine. Taking pity on her, the goddess Gaea turns her into a damsel, that she might seek shelter on land. But when a dashing knight comes to CC’s rescue, she instead aches for the sea and the darkly seductive merman who’s stolen her heart…

Goddess of Spring:  After stumbling upon an Italian Goddess cookbook, Lina thinks she’s found a way to save her failing bakery. Lina agrees to exchange souls with Persephone, the Goddess of Spring, so that she’ll breathe new life into the bakery. But when the handsome, brooding Hades kindles a spark in her heart, Lina wonders whether this dark Lord of the Underworld is her worst nightmare—or the man of her dreams…

This is one of the two books by P.C. Cast I picked up, and unfortunately this was another bust for me. I have simply grown out of P.C. Cast's writing style, which makes me super sad! I used to love House of Night and this felt very much like a grown-up House of Night style book. Buuuuut, instead of vampires this book features goddesses.

It was sad because I truly love mythology and cool takes on them, but I just couldn't get into this book. I really wish I could have, because the premises are cool! Many other readers will love this book, but I just don't connect with P.C.'s writing anymore. I'm not quite sure why I don't connect, if I'm being honest.

Two out of five stars.

I'm going to be completely honest and say I started this around the end of the first week of June and only just got around to finishing the last few chapters.

This was a slow read but not exactly something I hated. I'm obsessed with Persephone/Hades and I'll read ANYTHING that is based on their story or them in general. I think this doesn't do that bad of a job - it definitely put a new spin to the myth that I hadn't heard of before (and I've heard of A LOT)

It definitely dragged a little sometimes in the beginning. Mostly because I kind of rushed through Canady and her merman story. It was interesting a new twist on the Little Mermaid a bit but meh - being honest, I was truly there for Hades/Persephone which may be why I would read stop, read another book, go back for a few chapters then read something else.

Would recommend, probably won't reread, 4 stars!

This was a great read and I found it was very intriguing. I loved Goddess of the Sea it was magical and heartfelt. Goddess of Spring was very well written. I can not wait to read the next book in this series.

I love mythology, and I was not disappointed by these two stories. The first involves mermaids (The Little Mermaid turned on its head in some ways) and the second involves Hades/Persephone, and both were fresh takes on the myths. I enjoyed how the ended and loved the characters. The only reason this doesn’t get five stars is because the prose had a tendency to be laden with adjectives and the occasional cliche comparison, and I didn’t find there to be enough tension in the second story. 4.5 stars

I loved both books! After reading goddess of sea I had a hard time starting goddess of spring since I was still getting over the first book in the volume! But after a chapter or two I was smiling and crying and angry at certain characters! All the emotions were in there! I love this authors writing! I was in such a book slump that other books just didn’t do it for me! This book made me remember why I loved reading and I read it slow towards the end because I didn’t want the book to end!

it took my a while to fishing the book but i was finally able. The two books were totally amazing. The Goddess of The Sea and The Goddess of the Spring were a good example of what a Woman really is. You don't need a man to by your side but need love. Love Hades!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed these stories. Normally I am not the biggest fan of Paranormal Romance but I love P.C Cast's writing and how she weaves her stories. The Goddess of Spring was my favorite of the two stories. Lina and Hades love story reminded me a lot of Beauty and the Beast.

A more grown up story for those familiar with the House of Nights novels... Very mild romance novels but still great stories. Loved it...
