As the first Shark Wars series arc draws to a close, hero Gray unexpectedly finds himself the ruler of the ocean. He's got to make wise decisions in a time of upheaval and isn't sure if he's up to the task!
Dangerous prehistores are loose in the Big Blue, and Gray must defeat their evil leader, Grimkahn. But if he is to do that, he and Barkley must first outsmart the sneaky and dangerous frilled shark, Hokuu. . . .

I really liked this book because of the exciting battle and the mosasaurs and frills. I sort of think this series is repetitive because of the battle at the end so meh.
I liked the book and all but it was the sort of repetition I hate I loved the series but I hated this book it was anticlimactic and boring for the most part. Now I hate to be the person who criticizes the book a lot but it could have been a lot more, i don't know detailed and like not a repetitive climax. This has some spoilers so warning to you all. The book series was amazing but got sloppy at the 6th and 5th book because you get the same repetitive story in the first and second goblin is defeated and then in the 3rd finnivus comes and is even worse then he gets defeated by grey and then the next time he dies for good then houkuu comes and is defeated twice and dies and there's the end of the series. So that is the whole series and nothing really changes and varys so yah. There you go.
The Last Emprex by E.J. Altbacker is the final installment in the Shark Wars series and by far the grimmest. In this book, Gray, the protagonist, has just defeated Grimkahn, the leader of the Mosasaurs, who was recently brought back from the underwaters by the treacherous Hokuu. Hokuu is a powerful frill shark corrupted by Darkata, the equivalent of the dark side of the force, and its power. Now, in this final installment, Gray must prepare for the final battle, which is starting to seem like a suicide mission. In waters boiling with blood and in the face of death, Gray, the Seazerain, has to find a way to triumph.
Throughout the book, Gray has changed for the good from a politician who worries about his safety to a warrior who only worries about the safety of others. In the very beginning of the book, Gray learns the way of elections and is all for the idea. Then the final battle draws nearer --faster than he ever thought it would--and he has to put politics behind him. He quickly rushes to battle and makes sure he has a strong army for the defense of others. Soon the fighting starts and his friends start dying. Now Gray stops at nothing to kill Grimkahn and Hokuu. During the final battle, when Gray and the rest of his sharks are trapped by rubble, he hatches two suicidal plans to save his friends. The first is tapping into his lifespan while using Sharkata (the equivalent of the light side of the force) to blast his way out of the side of a mountain that they are trapped in. This would stop his friends from suffocating and create a way out. After he gets out, Gray fights Grimkahn, who he realizes cannot be harmed from the outside. In his second suicidal plan, Gray swims inside Grimkahn’s mouth, temporarily shielded by Sharkata, and uses his remaining power to blast his way out from inside Grimkahn. This kills Grimkahn. The realization that others’ lives are more important than his own changes Gray for the good.
I found that the climax of this book was dull and disappointing. In the climax, Gray swims inside Grimkahn’s mouth and destroys him from the inside. I was really disappointed because I thought it was too predictable, and this made it dull because it did not shock or thrill me the way I think it was supposed to. Also, some of the characters took turns describing Gray being swallowed up. It was very boring to hear about it from the different perspectives of the characters because it was repetitive. This climax, sadly, made me dislike the rest of the book.
I would not recommend this book because of the climax and the redundant perspectives of the characters during it, but I would recommend the rest of the books in this series. A warning to fellow readers: you will have to struggle through the first book, which will make To Kill a Mockingbird read like an intense thriller. Animal and fantasy lovers will like this series and maybe this book. All in all, I think that if you took a poll of 10 people who have read the first 5 books in the series and ask them to read the 6th, they would not like the series’ conclusion.
read this series with my 10 year old son. was an excellent roller coaster ride! lots of different relationships and situations to learn from and of course he loved the action scenes
