The Legend. The Immortal. My… Boyfriend?

You know, I really only had two goals in life:

1)Unearth the truth about vampires and,
2)Become hella famous.

Nowhere on that list did I have “die” or “get turned into a bloodsucker.” But guess what? Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Now, thanks to an unfortunate back-alley encounter, I’m the newest member of the undead country club (fangs, coffin, and all). And my savior? Sire? Whatever…

Freaking. Dracula. Himself.

Even stranger, he claims I’m his mate. Like… eternal love. But come on! I don’t have time for that. Not only do I have a story about illegal bloodletting to bust wide open, but I also need to track down my attempted murderer and learn how to be a vampire. Falling in love is the last thing on my mind right now.

Too bad Dracula has other plans for me.

I'm a generation or two too old for this

Even when I was 24, I wasn't as shallow and impulsive as the ditzy heroine of this story. She gives no thought whatsoever to consequences in her headlong search for fame. She doesn't grow or evolve despite the significant changes in her life, so I find it difficult to emphasize with her and have no idea why Vlad finds her so special. Still, she's charming as well as reckless and the story moves as a good pace without any egregious grammar errors.

Rescued by Dracula

Anna Parish talked her best friend Lucy into going with her to the new vampire club in New Orleans. Anna has a Vlog and wants to get an exclusive on vampires that would make her vlog famous. While trying to get a picture, Anna is suddenly whisked out of the club and attacked by a vampire that nearly takes her life. Fortunately for her, Dracula was near and felt her fear, finding her just in time to turn Anna and save her from death… sort of.

This is definitely a Romantasy, but it’s not all lovey-dovey and doesn’t get down to the spicy stuff until the end. Some action, well written tale with a good plot. Four stars.

I tried, I really did. I was looking for something fun and flirty maybe with a bit o' Halloween spirit. No. No. Nope. I hate the quick-to-react but with all the wrong conclusions female. With a big mouth and no censor. Talks a big game but has no resources for follow-through. Nope. I've been irritated since the beginning, hoping to hold out until maybe it got a little better. I can't.

A sassy romantic comedy. Anna is turned into a vampire and ends up dating Vlad. Yes, that Vlad - Dracula. This story is well-written and fun. The characters are exactly who you want them to be. There is a good dose of drama that kept me engaged. I will be reading more from this series.

I have quite a lot to say about this book. It was really hard rating it because some parts of it were solid three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yet other parts I found myself completely lost in the story and I would score a four ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Let me start with that I really like the premise of this book. I do find the fact that Anna was a vlogger a tad cringe but I could overlook that but I do feel like it would’ve added more depth to her character if she was a news reporter. She struggles throughout the book to really find her place as most of the time she acts very adolescent like but there are parts where she’s so sure of herself and shows maturity, but that side of things is so overlooked by her foolishness and recklessness. That being said I didn’t hate her as a character but I just find it hard hard to believe that out of everyone Dracula would go for someone so childish. Her dialogue was very teen adolescent and such a harsh contrast against Dracula‘s character, it made it hard to seem believable that he would choose her . The only thing I can say to kind of back that decision up is I like the fact that he has premonitions and knew that she was his mate I do really like that fate side of the story and as I said it kind of justifies why he was so drawn to her because otherwise you really couldn’t picture them together. Like I said, I don’t hate her as a character , a lot of female leads aggravate me but she didn’t for the majority, but there were areas where it did make me cringe.
I love the storyline throughout and I really liked Lucy as a character even though she was a side character her relationship with Anna was really nice throughout and she wasn’t just a throwaway in the story. They actually added a depth. I am going to assume that throughout the series, her story grows and I would love to see that because I think I actually prefer her as a female lead to Anna.
The twist towards the end actually made me gasp I loved it and I was so invested in that. The writing was good throughout and it was easy to read but Anna‘s cheesy one liners felt a bit immature, but I think that’s just down to her character rather than writing style.

There was a bit of spice in this and some of it was delicious to read but the only downfall in this author’s style of writing is that the spice also fell a little immaturely wrote it lacked something for me. I think needed a little bit more of a sensual side to it given that it is Dracula she supposed to be sleeping with it felt very ordinary.

Overall I would recommend this book if you love Dracula in general it’s a good spin on it and if you want to imagine him as a younger bachelor rather than a more mature man this is definitely something that would peak your interest. I know it’s very stereotypical to say, but it does have a very strong Twilight vibe throughout it as well so if you did love Twilight, I would say you would eat this right up. A good little spooky read to get you in to the Halloween spirit, not sure if I will continue the series though.

This is a “BUT…” book for me. Meaning I liked it BUT… For everything I did like there seems to be just as many things that bugged me. I will say I think it got stronger as it went so that bodes well for the rest of the series.

Anna is a vlogger and after vampires let the world know they existed a week ago she is determined to capitalize on it. A tip leads her to a club that is supposedly illegally taking blood from humans. Her sleuthing results in her bleeding to death in an alley when none other than Dracula swoops in and turns her. Not only is he now her sire but there is a deeper connection between the two he seems awfully cagey about.

Anna took a while to grow on me. She is reckless, snarky and a bit shallow BUT I did like her inquisitive nature and her easy acceptance of becoming a vampire. Her world had been turned upside down but there was very little “woe is me, my life is ruined.” Her carefree, impulsive attitude made for a light read.

I liked that the world had just found out about vampires BUT there was a lot of info dumping. Anna, being a newly turned vampire, was given a lot of info on vampires by Vlad and she got an email, very modern, from the queen's court going over common new vampire questions. I get the info was needed but it wasn’t given in a very interesting way. Lots of telling and very little showing. Most of this book takes place in Vlad’s mansion with Anna adjusting to her new life and hiding out from the vamp who tried to kill her in the alley. At 400 pages this could have been edited down so the plot moved faster.

By all accounts I should not have liked the romance. Vlad is a 500 year old vampire. He is reserved and old fashioned. Anna is a 24 year old vlogger who is overly snarky and reckless. These two had literally nothing in common. As the story went on I can’t say there is really anything about their personalities that makes me think they would be compatible. I can’t even say I think they know each other that well. BUT I kinda loved them together. It just worked. There was tension and they had a chemistry I can’t really pinpoint.

Final thoughts. Despite some issues overall I had a good time. Even though this storyline wraps up there are some open-ended questions that will be answered in future books. I wouldn’t mind picking up book 2 but it’s not available at my local library and not on KU. Do I like this $4.99 worth? I kinda think I do.

A fun, hilarious and romantic about a girl turned into a vampire and ends up dating her sire.. who is also Dracula. XD

I participated in the Book Blitz/Release Day Blitz for this one last year and it was around that time I also got the Kindle book. And now I finally had time/was in the mood to read it! And boy, this was so much fun! Vampires, romance, mystery, exciting moments and murderous peeps.

Sorry in advance if my review is a tad confusing, I am still filled with all the emotions!

You know that one saying (Curiosity killed the cat)? Well, our MC apparently didn’t… because she is a big snoop and stuck her nose (and her phone) into the wrong things. And now she is dead and turned. Yep. Despite her being a tad annoying at times, I still really liked the MC, especially as the time went on. I loved that while she did struggle a bit with her new reality, she also tried to embrace it! Learning about it as much as she could, either from the website she got or from asking Vlad and others. I had fun seeing her become more and more vampire as the story continued. At first she was really a baby vampire but with the story continuing we see that her scent is heightening and that she is now also able to pick up moods/emotions (which can cause the occasional embarrassment because horniness is also noticeable. XD). Plus, she is getting stronger and stronger! Disadvantage though, your appearance will always be the same, you are stuck with how you look. While I was conflicted on how she reacted to the big bad vampire that was still hunting her, I do think it was pretty good of her to just step up and make a stand. Yes, it wasn’t the handiest, but I would have done the same thing. Fuck that bastard. You already murdered me, just leave me the fuck alone.

I loved that vampires were out in the open in the book and that we learn about the hierarchy in that world. Plus, I absolutely LOVED finding out about the vampires and who they really were back when they were human, there were some nice twists that had me gasping! There were also other things that Vlad had to explain, like the orgy thing, or that there are people just willing to donate blood.

Near the end of the book the pace really picked up and we got some exciting moments that had me on the edge of my seat! Given that there are more books to come I knew things would end up fine, but it was still very exciting and OMG.

I have to say I wasn’t sure about the whole mate thing that Dracula was talking about, but in the end I have to say it worked out. He wasn’t pushy about it, he didn’t go on and on about it, he was really sweet towards Anna. And they sure had chemistry! I was shipping these two so so much!

There were a few times that had me scratching my head. For instance the running water thing, you went under the shower right?? Or that she apparently totally forgot she couldn’t vlog because of the whole reflections deal which Vlad clearly explained to her at the beginning.

I am also not sure how I feel about vampires not keeping up with technology or at least trying to. Vlad does everything old-fashioned and I was just rolling my eyes. I have read several vampire stories and Vlad isn’t the first one. I am currently watching What We Do In the Shadows and while they at least know what a laptop is and how to get mail… they still are so out of the loop and it just surprises me. Really? If I was a vampire and something fun and new came out? I would give it a shot. Try it out! Especially in What We Do in the Shadows were they rely on living blood donors..

Also, could we please just get a book about Lucy and the werewolf hottie? Please!!! I need it!!

All in all, this was one action-packed, romance-filled, and also with a great dollop of humour book and I definitely want more! I would recommend this one to all!

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would I picked it up because I saw it on booktok and thought that looked fun. It was fun and interesting Anna and best friend Lucy out investigating a blood orgy and boom all hell hits the fan.

Anna is attacked and Vlad (not that Vlad) saves her and now she has to get used to what being a vampire means. Then the one who attacks her is stocking her to finish the job.

It’s a lot but fun and just a great listen and I loved the narration it was perfect not to serious it was just right.

This was just ok for me. I don't know what I was expecting but this just lacked "something". I liked the characters well enough and will probably get the second book featuring Lucy and Samuel in hopes I'll like it a bit better. Here's hoping...

About the Book: Anna wants to become famous through unveiling illegal vampire activity at one of their most notorious clubs. Sadly, it was not meant to be, for she soon found herself dying in an alley behind it. Lucky for her, that wasn’t meant to be either, as a mysterious dark stranger approaches, ready to save her life the only way he can.

My Opinion: The book is told by Anna, and goes through the motions of life among vampires, living as a vampire, and detective work – find who killed her, take actions about it, and so on. It’s simple, straight-forward, evenly paced, and peppered with sassy jokes.
