Long held judgments crumble when she discovers the heart beneath the men she has come to count on. Rayla must overcome long held fears, discover the truth behind the creatures of the dark realms, and conquer her greatest weakness before she can take her place as the new queen of the fae.

However, her world crumbles when she discovers following her heart’s desire might just mean the destruction of the world. Will Rayla have the courage to choose the man who has risked everything to win her, or will she succumb to the manipulations of the fae council and those who would use her power for evil?

One choice: five men. The stakes have never been higher, but which one will prevail?

SUMMARY (50 words or less)

This series just keeps getting better. Rayla has a hard choice ahead of her and I didn’t envy her position. Five men and she had to chose one and not only by her heart but by her head. Because she would be giving one of them power beyond measure.

After reading and enjoying the first two books in this series, I was so excited to get to beta read for Christie Rich for this book. OK, so the first book is still my favorite of the three--I just really enjoyed the college bits--but this one is a close second. I loved the way Christie built on the intrigue and mystery surrounding each of the fae lords, and liked getting an inside view of each of their kingdoms which are each unique and have something different to offer. I really feel Christie's writing has improved with each book in this series. This series is a must-read for lovers of faerie books.

I loved this book, each book in this series just gets better and better, and now I really need to get book 4 Horizon. I was left wanting more. I hope to be able to get it soon.

I really fell in love with Heath in this book. He is the ultimate hot guy that has it all. In my opinion. I won’t say why I like him so much, beyond his hotteness, but that is not all there is to this complicated man.

I feel so bad for Rayla and what she has to go through in this book. I felt like I was on an emotional roller-coaster along with Rayla. How is she supposed to choose, when she spends time with each Fae lord, and gets to know them, that they all have some qualities that touch her. I myself still am all for Heath. I did love Zach, and part of me still does. But Heath to me, is the one who truly loves Rayla, and is the only one who seems to not really care about the power she will bring.
I don’t want to say too much more. I will share a few good teasers for you:

Quadruple crap. Why couldn’t I control myself? Why did he have this effect on me? “Are you compelling me right now?”To my surprise, his smile held an edge of sadness. “That would give you a much needed excuse, but I am afraid I am not.”Curse my body for reacting to his. As long as I kept him out of my heart, I would be okay.“I think it a bit too late for that, my dear.”“You’re using old man speak again.” I made a face. “It’s creepy.”He chuckled. “I’ll try to remember that, but I haven’t been around humans much in the past hundred years. It’s hard to keep up with the changes in common dialect.”“Let’s keep on topic, Jett. You were going to teach me how to control my mind.”

And this one

Once freed from the barrier our souls connected briefly before he pulled away. In that insanely short time, I knew him. It would take me an eternity to sort through all this information, but I couldn’t wait that long.I flung myself at him and peppered his face with kisses. He laughed and pulled me tighter, pushing me up against the closed door. He braced my back and lifted. I wrapped my legs around his waist, preparing for the best kiss of my life.“Ahem.”I clamped my eyes shut and groaned. How had I forgotten Grace was in the room? I lowered myself to the floor and Heath gave me a look that told me we would finish this later.Oh yeah we would.

Yeah, this book has some major great swoon scenes in it, and some great suspense, twist and turns you won’t see coming too. This entire series is very well written, and really hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the world that Christie created.

You need to try this series. It truly is amazing, its great along the lines how I think the Iron Fey series is great, which is a compliment to this one. Nothing is alike or anything, just the greatness of it, and the only thing similar is that its got the fae in them.

Give it a try, read my reviews of the first 2 as well. I hope to get Horizon soon, so I can read and review it. As soon as I can.

5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended!!

(note, I finished this book weeks ago, and did not realize that my review didn’t post, my computer crashed after I thought I posted, but it didn’t and my word doc didn’t recover all my review either, so had to start over, mostly, lol)

I was provided a copy of this book from the author for my honest review, thanks Christie, I appreciate it, and enjoyed it more than I can say.

I am really enjoying this series, Rayla has grown from a naive young girl to a woman who makes the best of her situations and forges ahead regardless of the costs to her. Some may say she is crazy and impulsive but I love that she stands up for those she cares about. Everyone seems to have their own agenda and she is finding it hard to discern who really cares for her and her wants her power. The Council suggested she bond with all of the Fae Lords to thwart Ainessa from trying to bond with her. Whilst that is a band-aid solution to her problem it does buy her some time to get to know the Fae Lords in their own environment and she can then ascertain if they are willing to bond with her for the right reasons. Having been so close to bonding to Heath, she feels almost cheated and does not understand the reasoning behind why she feels that way. Heath has gotten under her skin and for better or worse he is almost constantly in her thoughts. Despite being assured that this method of bonding would keep her safe, outside forces are at work and Rayla feels that she is not safe anyway. Time is running out and Rayla does not know who she can really trust but she must learn to trust herself first before she can make that ultimate decision. Hellhounds, wraiths and trolls become her champions as she refused to treat them as lesser beings because of what they are. Styx was one of my favourites, who wouldn't love a winged horse to whisk them away at a moment's notice. The Fae realms sounded so magical with crystal palaces and Atlantis style living, like something out of a dream. Any little girl who has ever wished that she was a Fairy princess would be envious of such a life. Will Rayla get her happily ever after or will she have to sacrifice herself to save those she loves?

I was honored to have read an advanced copy of Genesis from the Author. Christie Rich is a gifted writer and her latest edition to her Elemental Enmity Series was fabulous!

Rayla continues to flex her elemental muscles in this latest book. I was sooo not in favor of Heath at the end of Dark Matter (Book 2) I even tweeted to the author! But when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Throughout Genesis I found myself rooting for Heath - the whole time! Characters that I thought were good showed their darker sides and the whole story was full of excitement.

I HIGHLY recommend this series to any Young Adult / New Adult fan of paranormal romance!! You won't be disappointed!

3.5 stars. Probably the best of the three so far. I rather enjoyed it compared to the other two. Though, one of my biggest pet peeves about this series (and others like it), is the constant "We cant explain that to you right now, but continue to blindly shuffle through the next few weeks of your life, because the information I could have given you but refuse to give you for some ODD or 'its not time' reason... could have saved you a bunch of heartache and time." So yeah... that crap drives me up a WALL. At least have a VALID reason for keeping the MC in the dark... clearly ALL these people have ALL these answers, but never share crap with her. Ugh. Anyway ... other than that, pretty decent (:

I’m not sure why I like these books so much. If I had to pin it down, it probably stems from the fact that I love the developmental stages of a relationship; which this series is chock-full of due to the fact that Rayla connects with five different men. This has been my favorite book of the series thus far.

Finally, some of Rayla’s powers develop and more action ensues; not a great deal, but the first glimpses at the possibilities to come. Visiting the various realms and kingdoms was intriguing, as well as getting to know Jett better, even though it was brief.

Although there are still some plot holes, they are less than the previous books. Rayla’s inability to choose between the men is still preposterous and gives her a negative quality that inhibits a good connection with her as the main character. I understand that she needs to struggle with the decision so that the storyline can unfold in a prescribed order - but, sheesh! She vacillates so much that I feel bad for the one she finally ends up with, the poor fellows hanging on her fishing line.

All in all, I sped through the book, finding myself flipping through the pages, eager to figure out what happens. That said, I enjoyed it enough to loose sleep.

Genesis by Christie Rich is the third novel in this series about an Elemental named Rayla Tate. So far it has been my favorite. In “Five” the first of this series, we are introduced to Rayla, who is an Elemental, or one who can manipulate the elements. She was raised in the dark about Elementals and the fae realm she’d soon get thrown into. We are also introduced to four fae lords, all of who are hoping to win Rayla’s heart and convince her to bond with them. The first novel wasn’t action packed, but I did enjoy a lot of the world building and the beginnings of a romance. It was a fair set up to the next in line “Dark Matter”.

In the second novel we learn more about each fae lord as Rayla tries to choose which one to bond with. We also meet a new one here. Action was better in this second novel, as well as the characters behaving in a more believable manner. Editing in the first novel wasn’t the best, a few typos and such tripped me up more than I would have liked. “Dark Matter” had fewer problems and for the most part I enjoyed it.

In Genesis we find the characters developed even more. I found myself able to connect with the main character in a way that I had not in the first two. The tension is held well from start to finish and the action is better in my opinion. There weren’t as many slow spots that tended to make the text drag. It should be enough for those who want more than straight romance in their stories, though things are definitely still hot between Rayla and the lords here. The romance part has been a high positive for me in all three novels and is what first caught and held my attention in “Five” and “Dark Matter”. I personally don’t mind a small lag in action if it helps to build up the romance part of things. I believe there is a balance in this third novel that wasn’t in the first two.

If I had to pick a downside to this series, and especially in book three, it is Rayla’s constant questioning of the lord she finally ends up choosing. (You’ll have to read for yourself to learn which one.) I actually found myself getting irritated with her a few times. I didn’t mind problems cropping up to keep the two apart, but I didn’t like her constant questioning of his motives. I wanted her to grow up, take charge of her life, and stop acting so confused. But, all in all, this was a minor point and not enough to make me stop reading. I would like to give Genesis 4.5 stars but half stars aren’t available. I think Christie Rich is getting better with each novel and I’m definitely looking forward to book four.

Ok.This is an amazing series, but this is seriously not for readers who hate easily manipulated heroines. Don't get me wrong. I'm amazed with Rayla. She doesn't have any idea what to do in a world she didn't even know not too long ago, but she's really trying and she doesn't blame others for her mistakes and she forgives them even though she was used like an instrument

I love the story... very much . My problems only dwell on Rayla and the fae's weapon of choice...compulsion... or is it deception?

First, Rayla is so fickle! One minute she hates Jett and Taylor, the next she's all buddy buddy with them. Then she's back to hating them again. Repeat the cycle more times. She just can't see behind their actions and easily jumps to conclusions. What's more, she endlessly keeps on thinking of the "what ifs" when she's in dire situations. She regrets more of her actions when she keeps telling herself to have CONVICTION when she has decided for something. She has got to be one of those very aggravating heroines.

Rayla is also easily swayed. Guess what? Lust/passion/desire, whatever the term is, is the way to do it. Fae compulsion, beauty and charm might have a have a hand in it, but STILL. tsktsk... I thought in this book she'll have more the power and capability to control her urges.

Aside from those problems, I greatly enjoyed reading the book. The world brought to life by the author was amazing. The characters have their individuality and I can relate to them. I hope I can find what I'm looking for in the next book.

“Genesis,” the third installment of Christie Rich’s “Elemental Enmity” series, really injects the romance into paranormal romance.

There are more emotional entanglements in this novel than at the nearest Twilight convention. I mean, really, all Stephenie Meyer could come up with was a rather sedate love triangle … and even KStew’s best, er, recent efforts can’t hold a candle to Rich’s construct--a full frontal love hexagon.

That’s right. One woman. Five men.

Gives new meaning to putting a hex on someone … huh?

Now, before your minds slither into dark and delightful places, let me clarify: “Genesis” isn’t some sleazy, sloppy, sex-fest. It’s an emotional hurricane, all right, but it’s a hurricane with class.

Rayla is really put through the wringer in this book. She’s threatened, teased, tempted, and subjected to all sorts of manipulations that leave her—and the reader—aflutter. There are at least a dozen instances in which the readers would totally understand if the poor girl just threw in the towel and gave the hell up.

Does she or doesn’t she? Will she or won’t she?

Something tells me that Rich takes savage delight in toying with the emotions of her readers.

Once again, Rich's audience will be enchanted by her tale. Her characters shine, her settings and descriptions are brilliant, and her storytelling prowess is on full display. I enthusiastically recommend “Genesis” to YA, PNR, and fantasy fans.

Rayla is an Elemental and is learning to manipulate all five elements while at the same time trying to understand and get to know each of the Lords, make a love connection, avoid the evil fae lord sister Ainessa, rescue her family, and trying to not get captured by the Order again.

Poor Rayla! You can’t help but feel bad for the girl but at the same time envy her a little.

Who do you trust when everyone wants you for your power? Can you even hope for love when you are being forced to bond with one of the five fae lords?

Well, Rayla Tate is going to give it a shot. In order to postpone a permanent bonding with one of the lords she has agreed to temporarily bond with all five of them. In Rayla’s words at the beginning of chapter one, “Sounds pretty smutty, but thankfully it isn’t as bad as it sounds”. She hopes that this temporary solution will buy her the time to discover whom she can trust and most of all if she can trust her heart.

Christie Rich’s world building and character development is amazing. All of the characters continue to grow and change. I love that the author has woven questions of social class structure and weighing love against responsibilities into a story that is both vivid and captivating. As I have said before this is a fantastic series that continues to get better with each book.

In this 3rd installment of the Elemental Enmity, Rayla Tate continues in her quest of discovering her powers, learning who to trust, and deciding on who to finally bond with. In this book, Rayla learns more about each Lord and further struggles with her choices. She also uncovers many secrets that will help her continue with her adventure.

Out of the 3 books, this installment is my favorite so far. The storyline is full of adventure, heart wrenching at times, and comical as well. The author created an amazing fantasy world that I was able to conceptualize through her great narration.

The author created more depth in the characters which allowed me to become further connected with them. In this book, the fans of this series would definitely love Heath's character more and more. One aspect that I would have liked is for the heroine to have a more "kick-ass" personality. I'm hoping that this would be accomplished in the next installment. The author also managed to include a lot of surprises in her story that I fully didn't expect.

The ending did leave me hanging and i was really disappointed when I realized that it was the last page of the book. However, it was a perfect ending to make readers crave for the next one.

OMG. I can't wait!
1. I thought it was meant to be HER choice? bonding with zach was definitely NOT her choice... oh well. All is still well in the world :D

Gods, LOVE Heath! I hated that name, after the HoN series, I hated that name, and the characters that come with it, but OMG, this book definitely changed my mind. He loved her. And he wasn't using her love for him to get her power, he hnestly didn't even believe in her power at first, it's just so wow. Also, I'm am so happy to say my guess was PERFECT. I thought about it for a while. Like, why the hell would he relinquish any claim/bondy thing to her? HE LOVED HER. WTF? But then the comment about not giving himself all to the bond, and how Zach was afraid to lose her, all but completely tied it up.
Gods, it's soo sweet, and you know the instant she meets Heath [or like a couple of chapters afterwards], that he's totally the one. I hope it stays this way :D

As Junie B. Jones would say, "Wowie-wow-wow!" If you've read this far in the series you know what to expect from Christie Rich: amazingly descriptive scenes, crazily creative characters and sizzling, smoking chemistry! And Genesis does not disappoint! Yummy, yummy, yummy!

I love, love, love the absolute depth of each character and we get to really know each of the lords in Genesis ... and each and every one of them are a surprise!!! It's amazing how much emotion you feel along with Rayla: fear, uncertainity, compassion and lots of frustration. It seems crazy that she could be feeling so much and for so many guys, but it just so works in this book. Truly my only complaint is that the book has ended (and ooh-ooh-ooh what an ending!) and now I must wait for book 4. Please write faster, Ms. Rich! I must know what happens!!!

Another great installment of the Elemental Enmity series.
Packed with unanticipated twists and turns to keep you turning pages.
Christie Rich has done a remarkable job bringing the characters to life,
and weaving a most delightful hidden world.

Rayla Tate is an intriguing heroine, if not slightly exsasperating (in a good way)as she
battles to find her way through a group of five adoring fae lords all vying for her affections and
find love, all while trying to ward off enemies bent on claiming her power or her life, and save her family from a secret society trying to take over the world and bring down the fae.

I recommend this book for anyone who loves to venture into the unknown and find
themselves transported from one exciting place to another. Genesis was very well done
I look forward to the next book in the series

Repeating the other reviews I have posted, lol. Love these!! Each book is has a exquisiteness to them. For me, as I read it started to feel as though I was Rayla & her problems & decisions were mine. It took me a week & a half to get through all 3 books. I found myself, as I did my house routine, drifting back to the book wondering what would happen. Pulling myself from the book was hard to do. I got so submerged. Now that I have read them all I'm TRYING to wait for the next one. Don't think I want to ever see a ending to these books, lol. They are so delicious.

If you have read the first two books in this series this one will make you go crazy for more. Rayla has gone through so much and so far held it together, I am so exited to find out what happens next. Ms. Rich's writing style will capture you and plunge you into Rayla's life to the point that you will try to turn the page before you finish with it. I must tell you to beware this series is quite addicting and will make your mouth water for more!!!

I loved the first book. The 2nd was good as well but.... The 3rd was too much repetition of the same "I love them all and don't know who to choose!" Blah blah blah... And a lot of tangents that wasn't really important and seem to last so long I'd find myself skipping up many pages... It definitely started to get better by the end enough to make me want to buy the last one.
