After escaping Neverland and its mad lords, who in their right mind would ever wish to go back? My memories from the island torment me. I am worried about Peter, Jas, and the other Lost Boys, no matter how badly I want to deny it. Coming back to my own world hasn't given me the relief I'd expected. I miss them. I miss what we did together. I miss being with these men who understand me, understand what I need and give it to me, no questions asked, no regrets, no shame. Leaving them, I was aware I might be signing their death warrant, but I was selfish. I thought I was happy in the human world. But the truth is, I don't think I am. The only place I've ever felt safe and content and right in my own skin was with them, on the island. In Neverland. So when Peter Pan appears below my window, I jump at the chance to go back. Call me crazy. I must be. Will things be like before? Will I be able to help them? Will I face my fears? What about my feelings for them? And their feelings for me?

It was okay. The riddles every one speaks in and the ongoing secrets, you never get a full explanation of who or what the lost boys, Peter Pan, and Neverland are. The first book was decent, purchased the second one because I thought the story would progress, Wendy would face her fears, we’d finally get to the meat and potatoes of everyone’s damn backstory. But nope. More riddles, more holes, more erratic nothingness from Tink.

4 ⭐️’s Lord of Shadows by Mona Black is book 2 in the Brutal Never Boys series. These are very good books.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for character development. The development of characters continues in book 2. There is one character, Charlie, not well developed. She is only in book 2 for a short time. The author tried to make her a caring friend but she just comes off as annoying and condescending.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for plot and storyline. There is a very slow start to this book. The reader is 28% into the book before things start to get interesting. After that, the pace of the book picks up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for grammar/spelling/word choice. This book is well written.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ for spice. It doesn’t get started until approximately 1/3 through the book and there was zero sexual tension up to this point.
Overall, these scores average out to 4.0 stars for the book. At this point I will continue to read and recommend this series.

Things are taking a turn for the worse since Wendy left Neverland now its up to Peter to get her back. Wendy's memories are fading and she can only remember snippets of her time in Neverland. Until she faces her fears she won't be of any use to Peter and the Lost Boys. This is a dark romance so heed the trigger warnings. Time is of the essence and with danger coming from every side Peter and the Lost Boys are starting to lose hope.
More secrets as well as a few plot twists. Will Wendy remember enough about Neverland to return and save the 5 men she can't remember or are Peter and the Lost Boys doomed to their fate?.

A good book, but a little annoying on some parts. Spice is good and I like the characters. I like the idea of Tink being a male but he’s a little annoying in this book. I’m about to start the third book, I hope his character gets a little better. And Hook is confusing. Peter started off a decent character but she made him a little whiny in this one. I will have to see how the third one ends.
It was good enough that I couldn’t put this one down.
Wendy Darling cannot understand what is going on. She has these dreams that seem to memories. Peter wants her back at Neverland since she is the one. Wendy has to face her fears.
This is a why choose dark romance. Please check triggers.

I think this one was slightly better than the first. I didn't really enjoy the first all that much but the curiosity of needing to know what happens next got the better of me. And nice short books makes then easy to get through.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First... 🥵 This series is less of a rollercoaster and more of a drop tower. And I love it.
Now, this is one where I'm still lost, but she's feeding me crumbs and then adding more ways to make me feel lost, but I'm not mad about it. As long as it's all tied up by the end, I will be very satisfied.
Truths are coming out and things are falling apart (literally). I'm intrigued by all of the characters and the world itself.
The men? Yes. And you added the other crazy fucked up man to the mix? Double yes. They're each special in their own way and I'm just dying for more of Tink. I'm not sure if the third book is the last one, but if it is, I really hope everything gets covered by the end.
Have you ever regretted a choice you made? Wendy sure does. She’s back home but missing Neverland. She chose the cowards way out when she left and now she must return to make the wrongs right. After all, Neverland is made of her nightmares and traumas, so naturally only she can save it. This book is a fast read. So fast, I wished it would have slowed down a bit. But this Peter Pan retelling was meant to be a wild ride and I enjoyed every sexy twisted second!
Lord of Shadows begins where King of Nothing left off with Peter Pan in the human world watching over Wendy like he has her whole life. His mind is clear but his body is breaking down from fairydust withdrawals. Poor Peter, a junkie in the real world and insane in Neverland. Will he ever find peace? He helps Wendy to remember Neverland and like a moth to a flame, Wendy is pulled back into the alluring world of Neverland and the Lost Boys.
However, Neverland is worse than ever. Tink has been poisoned, the Lost Boy’s home has vanished, the island is sinking, the Reds have grown stronger and the mermaids are as vicious as ever. And Hook, he’s the unlikely hero of the story - dooming himself to save the ones he loves.
We learn more about all of Wendy’s harem in this book. Tink doesn’t have a shadow which means he doesn’t have a soul. Peter doesn’t want Tink to die so he shares his feral shadow with Tink, even though Tink doesn’t like it. As for the twins Wes and Colt, one is a changeling but no one knows which one is. And Hook made a deal to save the Lost Boys that left him alone with an army of ghosts. So much information is learned if you so much as blink, you might miss something. It’s gold metal level drama and it’s incredibly addicting.
The book ends on a thrilling cliffhanger. Luckily the final book in the trilogy, Queen of Dreams, is out now!
What do you think of this dark Neverland? Do you love it?

Omg, that ending has me depressed. Wendy and the guys are having difficulty figuring out what is going on. Memories are crucial, and yet it is truly an inconvenience at the moment. I'm running to read the next book because I need to know what happens next. Hopefully, Wendy can get it together soon before it's too late.
So, I actually paid for this book and it wasn't my fave in the series. First of all, Tink was all over the place, and not in a good way. Too confusing. Jas was too. The vague dialogue and talking in riddles was just confusing and irritating. The sexy times were the only things to save this book. Don't know if I'd recommend it though.
Part 2 of a 3 part series. It's like Peter pan on 90's HBO late at night. Keeps me wanting to know what Wendy's big secret is....it has its spice moments too.
Thoroughly frustrating because no one seems to know what is going on... A few more little bits dribbled in and teased, but gosh I am looking forward to the resolutions and actually knowing what the hell is happening in book 3 (fingers crossed)
Enjoyed it more than the first one, although plot-wise nothing much happened, and in a way it was even more confusing. But I still liked the setting and the magic, the spice was spicier, and I enjoyed seeing more of Hook.
Some more smutty Peter Pan. I kind of like the premise of this one, with Neverland being based on her nightmares and traumas... kind of an interesting scenario. I'm curious where book 3 will go. :)
As neverland is going through all the chaos you really get to see who the characters are and have a better feel for what is going on. This is a Peter Pan retelling but is done in a way that is different than the other books that are out there. More of a darker romance with a RH vibe and more magic.
I can not wait to get the next book in this series!
I wish Tink was a girl and that pissed me off because it would have been waÿyyyy better and hotter if that were the case! It was to the point where I was changing Pronouns in my head... why can't she be a bi girl?????
Lord of Shadows by Mona Black is even better than the first book. It dives deeper into the dark, twisted world with a fresh take on the Peter Pan story, and the stakes are higher than ever. The characters are even more complex, and the mix of power, loyalty, and moral gray areas is so gripping. The pacing is spot on, with more action, more tension, and way more emotional depth. And let’s not forget the spice—it's turned up a notch, adding some seriously steamy chemistry that keeps things heated throughout. With all the twists, high stakes, and that perfect balance of danger and desire, Lord of Shadows is a must-read for anyone who loved the first book, and it definitely leaves you craving more.
