Dale Carnegie was an American writer and teacher of courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Born into poverty on a farm in Missouri, he was the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936), a bestseller that remains popular today. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948), Lincoln the Unknown (1932), and several other books.
One of the core ideas in his books is that it is possible to change other people's behavior by changing one's behavior towards them.

I like reading motivational books occasionally. It's like Proverbs
lite - rules for life. This book was well done with lots of lists,
then discussion of what is on the lists. There was a list of qualities
that show personal resiliance. Then some discussion on building
resiliance (adapting to adversity, bounding back):
1. make connections
2. avoid seeing crisis as unsurmountable problem
3. accept change as inevitable (learn how to play a bad hand)
4. move steadily toward goal (bring adversity to an end)
5. look for self discovery opportunities
6. keep things in perspective (don't overreact)
7. take care of yourself (laugh, rest, relationships)
A few more guidelines:
- Giving puts the universe in your debt.
- Grateful people are less fearful people.
- Get plenty of rest when you are in a stressful situation.
- Rekindle optimism to build courage.

Typical Dale Carnegie book.. very easy to read and very well written. Sometimes it feels like it speaks to you. Dont rush through these books.. to have a greater effect, you'll have to slow down and ponder upon the statements that trigger some spark in your conscience.

"The bad news is, everyone looks great on paper and in interviews, but everyone also looks exactly the same. People have figured out how to present themselves as competent, qualified managers who won’t make waves and who won’t make mistakes—but nobody is able to say, “I’ve got ideas that are really new and different!"
---Make Yourself Unforgettable---

Not as good as How to Win Friends..., but I found some of the strategies presented in Make Yourself Unforgettable... were valuable (so long as I don't forget them!). The book is basically a hodgepodge collection of characteristics which can make you a "class act", and how being a class act will make you unforgettable.

This is not a work by Dale Carnegie himself but the training organization and that reflects in the book. This book is a collection of random suggestions, vaguely expressed thoughts and many a times borrowed works from others. Nevertheless, I found some of the tips and suggestions given pretty helpful. It is possible that this book maybe of a greater help to someone else.

Carnegie sets the gold standard for self improvement programs. Each section has practical and simple methods for changing or examining the chosen topic as well as real life examples of people who experienced them. I'm going to have to give this one another listen.

I'd recommend this for anyone who is looking to "class up their act" whether that is in business, personal life, or anywhere in-between.

So yeah... I basically went on a highlighting frenzy with this one, thus beating the purpose of notes and highlights. :/

Another good system with lots of good information. Though, don't be surprised when most of the points taught in this book are lessons in honesty. If you can be honest, you can be classy. If you're one of those people that has a tendency to cut corners in the honesty department or have commitment issues, this books offers some good advice to remedy that. Enjoy!

All I can say according to this book that class is about being a good, honest, tenacious, and responsible person. Basically, being a classy person is being a good human, the one who is able and willing to help others and reaching his own goal without giving up.

Nevertheless, this book still gives the explanation and description about class act in a detail which we can easily depict in our daily live. There are even many things in this book that we didn't realize although those things happen frequently.

Then, there is also some discussions about passion and happiness, just like any other self-help books. Unfortunately, with what actually only few things to learn, this book is a bit thick and took not a short time to read (at least for me).

What I like the most is the part about stress management. There are a lot new things I discovered after reading that chapter. The suggestions are very implementable.

Overall, I think this book deserves three or four stars. But because it opens my eyes about some new things, I'll just give it 4 stars.

Definitely a good read it for everyone, I still love to read this book. It is changing my life daily. The book is a great read for everyone.

I have extracted from the book some paragraphs that I like best in order to introduce this good book to the readers. You can read these interesting quotes prior to making a decision to read the whole book....!

"Confidence is knowing that you will succeed."

"Live one day at a time."

"Money makes many people uncomfortable."

Thanks and Wish you and your family health and success.

"Fear scares you into not trying. Not trying deprives you of acquiring experience. Not acquiring experience means you are not moving forward. And if you don't move forward in any endeavor, how can you be successful?
Looking fear in the eye without blinking is the primary act of courage. In the seventeenth century, the British philosopher Francis Bacon said, "Nothing is terrible except fear itself.
...
We learn by doing. Children don't learn to walk by watching others, they try to stand and fall hundreds of times before learning how to put one foot in front of the other in perfect balance. Doing things that are uncomfortable and new ultimately expands your comfort zone. It enables you to confront new tasks courageously - not without fear, but with the fear under control."

This is an amazing book for leaders and managers, and for anyone who is aimed at improving their skills. Carnegie places prominence on the role of class that gives some type of energy to people and helps them to become unforgettable in society. The central message is that any person can ensure self-improvement. The book helps to better understand how to achieve success in life based on personal beliefs, values, and attitudes. It takes an in-depth glimpse of the 10 essential elements of being unforgettable and delivers a clear-cut step-by-step guide for developing and embodying them. The information is divided into an introduction, 18 chapters, and an epilogue. “Success in life depends on confidence, determination, and dedication”. I give it 5 stars out of 5.

No matter how many times I read Dale Carnegie’s books, I always gain something valuable. His writing prompts me to reflect deeply on the mistakes I’ve made in the past. It reminds me that good character is not something we are born with—it is cultivated through conscious effort and constant self-discipline.

Pride can sometimes deceive us into thinking we are flawless, but in truth, we are full of shortcomings that require ongoing attention and improvement. Especially in our interactions with others, we must be mindful of our words and behavior. This is particularly important when dealing with those we care about—our actions and speech should never become a source of hurt to them.

Great book, but I HATE the title.

This gem is a Dale Carnegie book (I love me some Dale Carnegie), and it is about learning to be a person of class in our business and personal lives. LOTS of great techniques and suggestions.

Being unforgettable??? I wouldn't even WANT to read a book about being unforgettable!

Also, in chapter 4, I think they edited out a story about Steve and Ben because when they mentioned these fellows, I had NO clue what they were talking about. I spent quite some time trying to find Steve and Ben, but I do believe they are officially MIA.

Excellent info and narrator's voice, however, the music in between sessions (chapters) is super dated (currently 2024). It's really all about being a good person, a class act, and how that is win-win bc you reap the benefits in many areas of life. My favorite chapter was the last one, Chapter 11, about courage, and how that can pertain to finding a job. Chapter 10, regarding generosity, was also excellent and hard to find in the headlines these days.

There were some interesting takeaways from the book if you don't take it too seriously. I thought it interesting to describe how he tried to improve himself. I'm the kind of person that thinking to hard about the right way to do everything stresses me out. So I thought his interesting to listen to, but not something I'm going to try and change about me in my everyday life.

I found the first half of this book inspiring and it has had a real impact on how I define my own success. I now want to be a class act over any other goal. I have down graded to four stars because the second half of the book is filled with platitudes and rehashed basic self help tips.

Yeah I skimmed and I liked it...
This book would’ve been a 5 star if it were shorter.
Overkill on the stories.
What I did get from this read is reassurance.
I’ve been practicing everything that was written.
Feels real good to know that I’m on the darkest of roads to my black heart’s desire.
