Lauren Dane has been writing stories since she was able to use a pencil, and before that she used to tell them to people. Of course, she still talks nonstop, and through wonderful fate and good fortune, she’s now able to share what she writes with others. It’s a wonderful life!

The basics: Lauren is a mom, a partner, a best friend and a daughter. Living in the rainy but beautiful Pacific Northwest, she spends her late evenings writing like a fiend when she finally wrestles all of her kids to bed.

Loved this little freebie! But it's been so long since I read a book from the Chase Brothers series that I had a little trouble remembering these characters. Eventually it all came back to me, and I enjoyed the idea of the brothers (and Tate's brother Nathan--from Once and Again) all having a date night with their wives while grandma Polly Chase does the babysitting. I sure wish we got to read about all the brothers, but LD focused only on Shane and Cassie, Tate and Matt, and Tate's brother Nathan and Lily. Still, I enjoyed every word, loved reading the updates on all the brothers and their families, loved the hot scenes...and one couple will be getting a little surprise...
This freebie left me wanting more! I hope Lauren Dane somehow continues to keep us updated on this family.
4 stars only because it was too short.:(

REVIEW
To be totally honest I didn't read the Goodreads Blurb for this book, which is unusual as I do normally check out a book/novella I want to read on Goodreads first. I'd read the two Cascadia Wolves novella's, loved them and wanted to try another title or two by Lauren Dane and as this one was free I just downloaded it and read it.
The cover features a couple passionately embracing and undressing so of course suggests romance and though some people on Goodreads have classified this as erotica, to me, I'd say even though its a novella there is enough plot/story line in it, sure it has some steaminess suggested, but is mostly romantic. This book introduces you to the Chase's, very well as well as giving you a good idea of their family dynamics as a whole as well as how their own homes and their own little part of Petal are. I think its amusing how all the Chase brothers want is a little alone time with their partners whilst their parents are looking after the children.. One character in the novella also has an important announcement for her partner once they are alone.
I think reading this novella has given me a good idea of the family at the centre of it all in Petal and I do think I will adding the Chase Brothers Series to my "Want To Read List".
To sum up I still enjoyed reading this novella even though it wasn't necessarily the order they are meant to be read in.

Thanks Lauren for allowing me to revisit my favorite characters!! I love Shane and Cassie along with Matt and Tate!! Such a great quick read!! Makes me want to reread this series from the beginning!!! The Chase Brothers were the first series that I read from Lauren Dane and made me the HUGE fan that I am of hers. After all the books that I have read, this series remains one of my favorites that I continue to reread and Lauren definitely remains one of my favorite authors. I will never stop wanting more of the Chase Brothers series anyway I can get it!!!

Alone Time by Lauren Dane

2.5 stars

This is a quick free short story told from alternating chapters of the Chase family and their friend. Basically it follows a bunch of couples already together finally going on date night after having kids and I thought that was a sweet and endearing concept. While I haven't read the Chase Brothers and couldn't connect to the characters I did like how sweet and simple the story was. The writing wasn't anything special, but it was solid writing for a freebie.

Whimsical Writing Scale: 2.5

Shane and Cassie were the most entertaining couple and they had the opening chapter, which I felt like really hindered the next couples because the two chapters that follow Nathan and Lily are not very strong and I wasn't really invested and skimmed read most of it. Matt and Venus are an okay couple, but again I felt like the opening couple outshined them as well.

Character Scale: 3

Plotastic Scale: 2.25

Cover Thoughts: The curse of the bad kindle freebie covers continues.

Visits to Petal stories are bonus short stories included in the print versions of the new Petal/Chase books. These are little glimpses into the lives of the character we know and love.

The boys are getting ready to take their women out dancing. Of course all the kidos are staying with Grammy and Poppa. Only Polly and Edward would love to have 8 grandkids under their roof at the same time. We get to spend time with Shane and Cassie, Matt and Tate and Nathan and Lily. This is a great short story. I love getting to visit some on my favorite people in Petal. I am looking forward to many visits to Petal. If you enjoy the Chase brother and Petal books this will hold you over until we get the next Petal book. I am looking forward to Beth’s story.

Happy Reading!

Short story with a glimpse into the lives of Nathan, Matt and Shane some of Petal, Georgia’s favorites on date night. If you’re a fan of the Chase brothers and Petal’s newest couple Nathan and Lily, this is a can’t miss. Just a nibble, but enough to get you by until the next book in the series. Had me smiling the whole time I was reading it.

The warning should have been put at the beginning of the eBook, as it would have save me a rather uninteresting short read of what seems like an accumulation of epilogues of former stories that I had not read.
Nicely written however; I may be tempted by this series sometime or other.

2.5 stars. Not a badly written story, but just kinda blah. The author should have stopped with bk 4 of the Chase series. Now we're on to the Murphy's with a side of Chase thrown in.

This is a sweet short story about couples finding time to reconnect. There is life after kids! Date night with Grandparents taking all the rugrats is a great swap. There wasn't much development to this story and the characters seem to be perhaps from another series. There is not too much context or depth to this book. Just a quick and easy feel good read.

Short sweet and sexy

I don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy!

Just loved this book! Sheer escapeism in a time of Covid19. Having already visited the four cities on several occasions, it was wonderful and refreshing to get an insider's view and especially over food. Part travel, part guide but extremely well written.

Visits to Petal, Part 1

It’s date night in Petal, Georgia, and Nathan, Matt and Shane have some long-awaited alone time with their women and they’re not about to let that opportunity go.

Warning: This free story is bonus material for readers of the Chase brothers and Petal, Georgia, series and is not intended to be standalone.

I am a shamelss Lauren Dane slut. There is nothing she has written that I haven't absolutely loved and devoured. One of my favorite series of hers is the Chase Brother's and by extension the Petal Georgia series.

This short story is a quick update on the Chase Brothers, and Matt's brother in law Nathan and his lady love Lily. If you love these characters you won't want to miss this story.

Polly the matriarch of the Chase Family is of course in the story, because lets be honest what is a visit to Petal without a run in with her. She's got all the grandkids for the night, while Shane, Matt and Nathan are out with Cassie, Tate and Lily.

I am a series reader, meaning I prefer to read books that are in a series, and I love these little short stories that take us back and let us see where our favorite characters. So thank you Lauren for taking us back to Petal Georgia and letting us see what's going on with our the Chase and Murphy family.

I liked it. I enjoyed catching up with all the couples from this series. I was worried it would get too disjointed, as it's pretty short, and there are a lot of people to "visit" with, but I thought Ms. Dane was very creative in that it was one single date. One couple they're getting ready, one couple they're dropping the kids off, one couple they're arriving, they're at the place, they're leaving, etc. If it was one couple, it would be the perfect short story of one entire date, beginning to end, but even broke up as it was to catch up with all the different couples, I thought it felt neither rushed nor disjointed.

Well done, Ms. Dane. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE READ THE "PETAL, GEORGIA" SERIES, IF YOU DIDN'T THIS SHORT READ (RECAP) WILL NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU. I'VE READ THEM ALL, IT'S SET IN PETAL, GEORGIA A VERY SMALL SOUTHERN TOWN. THE CHASE BROTHERS, THE MURPHY FAMILY AND OTHER CHARACTERS, IT FOLLOWS THEIR LIFE AND LOVES, MARRAIGES, RELATIONSHIPS, BIRTHS, TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS AS THEY LIVE FROM DAY TO DAY. VERY LOL FUNNY AND TEARY AT TIMES WHILE FOLLOWING EACH ONE'S PROGRESS. THE TOWN SECRETS AND MYSTERIES ARE VERY WELL DONE. I LOVE READING ABOUT SMALL TOWN LIVING ALSO I LOVE BOOKS WITH A SOUTHERN FLAIR, THIS SERIES HAS ALL THAT AND MORE. OH! IT HAS SOME OF THE HOTTEST SEXY LOVE SCENES YOU'VE EVER READ. OH YEAH!!!!

A little peek into the Chase characters. Cute. If you have read the Chase Brothers by Lauren Dane, this short novella will give you a sneak peek into their lives to make sure they all got the endings we all hoped for. Enough to make you wait for the next book in the series. If you were wondering, Mrs Polly has lot and lots of grandchildren now, the children have found their happily-ever-afters and now she can put her forces to making the Murphys, her adopted family members happy to. I have no doubt she will do just that. ;) Were you interested in how the whole storyline began, the only thing that is still missing is the story of Polly and Edward. Wonderful world you have created, Mrs Dane.

A really surprising novella that shows different couples exploring the bonds of love and family with each other. Especially have the rare factor of alone time each couple reunites with their loves. They share ups, downs, and true happiness that holds them together perfectly. I really enjoyed the interactions of each couple and their bonds of love and happiness. I hope to read more from this author.

Just a short free catch up from the author.
But it should be book 5.5 as things are said that are pre events to things that happen in LOST IN YOU.
We see how our couples are getting on further down the line when they are all out on a date.
Each short glimpse ends with a sex scene so not really stories.
Really recommend that you have read the Chase Brothers series and Once and Again as Nathan and Lily also feature.

Oh, this book. It makes me want to go back and play in this world again. And that's a good thing. A very good thing. Short, sweet, and sexy.

This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 09/04/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.

A great, quick, fun read from Lauren Dane. This is a quick visit back to Petal, GA so if you haven't read any of the books in this series, don't pick this up. It's really just a nice way that Ms. Dane has given her readers a chance at a look back at some of our favorite characters to see what they're up to now. I just wished it was longer. Love these characters!

I am normally not a fan of short stories. Usually they feel like the writer had something to say but not enough for a full book. However, this story felt very much like a pulling together of all the other stories and moving forward. It was very well conceptualized and I hope this is something we see more of as we move into this new series of books.

It's been three years since I read this series. Surprisingly, I managed to remember the backstory to go with the characters so I wasn't at a complete loss. At 30 pages, there isn't really any story to this, just a brief visit back to Petal, GA and a sort of status update as to how many kids each couple has to date.

I really liked this little quickie. I loved catching up with all the Chase's and their extended family. It was good to know that just because they are settled, they are still very much in lust with their loves.
