Rate this book
After having lived so many different lives already, Ginny finds it hard to believe there isn't a storyline she can't figure out. That is, until now.

Ginny becomes a young woman who has to live in the shadow of a scandal her parents created. Her only option is to move in with an eccentric uncle, far in the north of England.

What she discovers at Arden Castle is nothing short of a mystery. Can she convince her love interest that she's not insane? Or will she discover the truth too late to save her newest character?

I started writing fiction at the age of 12 for my friends. Of course, in those days, I was the heroine, saving dashing rock stars from their ruin. Now, somewhat older, hopefully wiser, I decided to finally put down my ideas on paper and write about a heroine not unlike myself (personality wise, certainly not realistically).

After finding my own soulmate (which is just another word for the only man willing to live with me), and having two beautiful children, I'm changing my stay-at-home mom status to part-time author. Which isn't to say that my days are not still filled with laundry and dishes, but I've also added writing.

I have many plans for my heroine, Ginny. She will meet matchmakers, pirates, cowboys and maybe a vampire or two. If I've read it in a romance novel, you can bet, Ginny will live it in an upcoming novel.

Thank you for all the support from my family and friends. Without my overly encouraging husband, none of these books would have been written. And I really appreciate my fellow neighborhood mommies. They make the best editors in the world.

Trust is hard

Our GINNY IS BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH A NEW LOVE INTEREST MATTHEW. This is a scholarly man (Ginny type for sure). The two of the work together in this who done it tale. Meanwhile Ginny doesn’t know who she can trust so she puts her faith in the Mega Hunk.

A Lesson in Trust is the sixth book in the Lesson series. It follows its predecessors as being one of the better ones (though I personally like them all). This time it has a strong element of mystery to it that keeps you guessing until the end. Ginny finds herself in the body of a young woman whose parents are dead from a murder-suicide and only one relative willing to take her in. She arrives in Scotland to discover the uncle who had welcomed her by telegram has left on an unexpected trip, despite his apparent enthusiasm for taking her on as a ward. Only her aunt (by marriage) and her aunt's nephew are there to greet her. It isn't the most welcoming response and she is immediately made to feel uncomfortable, but poor Ginny has nowhere else to go and has to make the best of it. The nephew, who is the hunk she knows she is supposed to fall in love with, warms up to her quickly enough, but her aunt doesn't show the same kindness. Matters are made more difficult as a possible paranormal element of the ghost variety comes into play, along with a suspicion that all is not what it seems in the household.

I fell in love with this series when I stumbled upon the first book back in 2010. For those just discovering the series, you really need to read A Lesson in Passion first to understand how all the rest work. After that you can probably skip around and be alright. It explains how Ginny (who was always skeptical of love) ended up reading a bunch of romance novels while sick, only to end up in an accident where she woke up in a romance novel story living the life of a heroine. Each book takes her through a journey, teaching a lesson, but she must also work to make her character fall in love before she can move on to the next. It is like the old show Quantum Leap in that she inhabits someone else's body. The difference being she doesn't have anyone to explain the person's past or possible future consequences. Instead memories eventually come to her so she can make her way without being completely blind to her situation. The only tricky part I find is sometimes it takes a bit to get into the story as you wait to figure out what is going on. After that, though, it tends to keep your attention until the end.

This latest novel took a new twist with the mystery element. Most of the others were strictly of the romance type of storyline, but I enjoyed the different angle of this one. I also appreciated seeing Ginny's growth since the previous books. She thinks about past mistakes and tries not to make the same ones again. It doesn't always work, but at least she isn't quite as reckless as she has been in the past. There are still some issues with her using modern lingo that the other historical characters don't get, but that is one of the fun elements. Watching a modern American woman slip as she tries to play her part in a different time and place can be rather entertaining. She has a wry sense of humor to her and a sense for excitement. Every book is a separate journey as she does her best to complete her task and move on in the hopes she'll eventually wake up in her own body.

The lesson series is not to be missed if you enjoy romance, and especially if you appreciate a time-travel element. I highly recommend it and look forward to the next novel when it comes out.

A Lesson in Trust by Jennifer Connors.

This is the 6th book in this series.
I loved the first book and the introduction into Ginny's life. I got it for free on my kindle from amazom dot com and bought the others as the concept was unusual and I wanted to find out happened to Ginny next. I enjoyed the continuing story of how Ginny coped within each romance story and her reaction to the customs and the time periods and her place in it.

I would suggest you read these books in order as in each story, Ginny learns something more about her self and her leading man and each story builds on the previous one.

I look forward to reading the next installment and hope we will learn more about what kind of hero Ginny wants for her own happy ever after.

A scary book, not because of the ghost aspects, but because of the very real problem Ginny has in this novel - being set adrift in the world with no family or friends to rely on, being drugged and "haunted" to make her seem mentally unstable, all in an effort to hide a murder and other crimes. The lesson in trust seems reversed in this novel. Several times Ginny says that she trusts her mega-hunk implicitly, with her life, but HE does not trust her. Ultimately, I think this is more of a lesson in trusting fate or the divine plan, that everything will work out okay. Sadly, real life is not resolved as cleanly as a romance novel, though the trust bit is still necessary. The novel still struggles as the others do with too many pages devoted to sex, and increasingly poor editing.

Book 6 of 9. This was not my favorite book from the series. I didn't love the characters or the setting and plot. But Ginny still gave it her all and pulled through. Matthew. her hero, left me wanting. In the end I don't know if I could have trusted him. Here's hoping for more in book 7.

Ms. Connors lost me a little bit with book 5 but has redeemed herself with this newest installment! Very much looking forward to the next book in this inventive series.

Love the series. I would like her to eventually return to the present, however.
