In 770 or thereabouts a young peasant boy is taken into a monastery because he has the gift of song. He is christened Theodore. To the same monastery comes Princess Matilda, whose husband suffers an unlucky accident with a swarm of bees.
Rachel Billington has written twenty one novels and eleven books for children. She is also a journalist, feature writer and reviewer. She is a regular contributor and Associate Editor of Inside Time, the national newspaper for prisoners and a Vice-President of English PEN. In 2012 she was awarded an OBE for Services to Literature.
Sorry, I tried and tried to continue reading this book but just wasn’t interested enough. I read the first ‘tale’ and was underwhelmed, started the second but didn’t have the motivation to continue.
Interesting concept showing the love story between the two set across different timelines and during different times in history. Nice book but didn't set the world on fire.
