Cooking Light is an American food and lifestyle magazine founded in 1987. Each month, the magazine includes approximately 100 original recipes as well as editorial content covering food trends, fitness tips, and other culinary and health-related news.
We are VERY picky eaters, usually preferring lighter fare (we're not from the beef-and-potatoes or casserole crowd). This book is chock full of recipes that even the pickiest of us enjoy, plus it focuses on cooking fresh, healthy foods. There are also some awesome tutorials that are helpful for newbie cooks & bakers (like me!) who are just starting out.
Awesome chicken, pasta, and vegetarian dishes (we haven't ventured much into the beef yet, but it looks good, too) as well as promising bread recipes. The only disappointment so far has been the dessert section, but then I don't really believe in "light" desserts anyway. ;)
I love reading cookbooks cover to cover. I finished this one last night (it's an easy read ... more recipes than exposition) and am looking forward to putting it to good use. There are so many recipes in this book calling to me!
This is the first cookbook I have ever bought for myself, and I am extremely excited to begin as soon as I move into my new apartment. We shall see just how resourceful it turns out to be, although I feel very confident in this used bookstore purchase :)
Hard to believe that some of these recipes are "light." This is a fantastic cookbook for those looking to cut calories or just to eat smart. The book contains more than 1000 of Cooking Light's best recipes. Yummy!!!
I have subscribed to Cooking Light for over 10 years and thought I would buy this book that captured so many good recipes. I was not disappointed. Lots of great recipes and nice pictures for those visual cooks. I use Cooking Light recipes for almost everything I make and am rarely disappointed.
