Novella Formerly titled Cybot Awakens
Take a shy bookworm from Montana. Hand her a stack of her much older brother’s sci-fi and fantasy novels, James Bond books and horror comics. Later, introduce Barbara Cartland and the world of romance fiction. Get her a teaching job or two in authentic, one room Montana schools, ala Laura Ingels Wilder. Marry her off to a great guy, move her to a big city in Tornado Alley, then pop three daughters out of her in twenty-two months(one set of identical twins). Then, make her a jinx–every great genre TV show she loves gets the ax– Beauty and the Beast, Dark Angel–and Buffy and Spike never have a happy ending! She gets upset about no romance in the world, and fires up to write her own stories with happy endings. Throw this all together into a small house in Wyoming, along with a small bouncy dog and too many cats, shake constantly and pour it out onto a computer keyboard. There! You have me, Melisse Aires.
Years of wanting her cyborg to be a man, not a cyborg, made her weak. He was a man—more aggressive than she’d ever imagined, but still a man. Real.
Even though I have read this plenty of times I made sure to read it last night to have a fresh perspective.
Sabralia was married off at a young age to Sirn and after the first few years she became insignificant in his life and became isolated. Qy, her cyborg, does everything from styling her hair to giving her orgasms in the bathtub, of course this was after she trained him to. On the night she is supposed to give herself to one of Sirn’s friends she quickly hides to only realise the next day that the castle was under attack. Now Qy, is starting to return to his normal self, Kaistril. And with this a whole lot of memories…
Now I know what you’re thinking, this cyborg just turns quickly into a normal human being? Well, Ms Aires writes it in a way that makes it realistic. This read will make you laugh, smile and feel very, very hot!
I'm not 100% sure how to rate this book. I was quite excited to read it because the premise is interesting and I'm writing my own similar robot sfr right now. The first half is probably a 4-4.5 stars for me due to the interesting set-up, but unfortunately the second half drops to 2 for execution.
Our heroine Sabralia is one of the neglected young wives of an evil dictator. Because she never gave him an heir, he has decided to turn her into a sex worker to service his military officers at the next banquet. She concocts a plan to escape that fate by tricking her dumb cyborg servant (a spy for the harem manager) into reporting that she is meeting a fictional officer on the beach, away from any witnesses.
Then , as advertised, her cyborg awakes.
The beginning is quite engaging. Sabralia is a very sympathetic character. She wasn't schooled beyond sixteen, when she was given to the dictator in a treaty to protect her home world. She has survived okay in the harem by completely isolating herself, and even though the schooling issue bothers her, she still manages to make smart choices that control her destiny.
There is some yummy sexiness right at the beginning in the shower with the cyborg, but it's also sweet and sad because she's so lonely and he's so clearly not sentient.
The rape-threat trope, which usually really bothers me as a trigger point, didn't this time because
Her cyborg is actually a warrior prince named Kaistril. He prefers hard, dangerous military women, not sweet, soft Sabralia. While they get to know each other as people, he teaches her useful skills (how to pilot and maintain a space ship, for example) and she begins to blossom.
However, then there is the second half of the book. Spoilers!
So, I liked this book okay, but since it had the potential to be so much more, I finished it with a lingering sense of disappointment. I will probably give the author one more chance, but maybe not at full price.
FYI- there are a few spelling/formatting errors, but nothing that would really detract from my enjoyment of the story.
...like their sci-fi steamy and full of naughty times. ...enjoy when a powerful man regains his facilities. ...get a kick out of cyborg-on-lady action! ...love the idea of two people being trapped on a space ship and forced to rely on one another.
Yeeeeaaaah. Sexy sci-fi. There's nothing quite like it. And I must say, I did like this one!
Well written. The plot just didn't snag me. She is on the run & ignorant of most survival skills. He's a cyborg waking up from his drug induced cyborg life as her maidservant.
Erotica, but not really. HEA. More in the series, but I wont be reading them. Recommended as filler.
For those tired of stereotypical heroines but who still like their males all Alpha (with a sensitive edge), this is for you. Enjoyable, sweet but with full on, passionate bedroom scenes, plus interesting touches of tech for the scifi fans. See my full review at http://critiquedebook.blogspot.com/20...
Part of an evil dictators harem, a trophy wife since the age of 16. R is dreading the up and coming ‘fesivities’, shim the dictator is allowing his officers free reign over his harem.. including his wives. Hatching a plan R hides out and when her cyborg servant qy unknowingly assisting, R manages to steer clear of any offices and and attack by invaders. The invaders attack prevents qy from attending his daily maintenance and as a result he awakes from his cyborg state and remembers who he actually is. Escaping off the planet with R and the attacks giving chance until they can reach his family.
I really liked this book, I’m not normally one for cyborgs..it’s new tripe that I’m gently dipping a toe into. However, I think what swung this bit for me was that he was actually still a man... he did have a number of implants but wasn’t full or part machine unable to understand emotions.. once his ‘cyborg programming wore off’ he returned to being a man.
The story could have a been a bit longer for my liking as it was more novella length.. and I wanted to know more about qy/K’s how world....but that is what the following books are for!
Sabralia and Qy/Kaistril, who was her cyborg.... This story is well written and involves her wishing her cyborg was more real than being robotic. Her wish actually comes forth in the midst of an attack on the palace where she was a treaty wife to Sirn. Kaistril awaken after being blocked from maintaining his cyborg parts for a while and his memory comes back full force when Strafe attacks the planet. He pulls Sabralia to freedom as they escape to their freedom. There's love, adventures, as well as danger, and HEA. I give this 4 cups of hot java, ☕☕☕☕. I will look to read the next book to this series.
A very short story, by the time you get invested in the plot it finishes. It started really well, that was the first book I read about a bought wife as part of a harem with her own modified made to take care of her. Great premise for an amazing plot development. Then we had the actual threat of coerced rape and I was hooked. From there, things progressed fast and we have them running and fighting. No insta love once he gains his mind. We have a short relationship development and then a quick drama before the end.
Ngl, the writing for this story was rather flat although I'd say that's better than being god awful. The story had potential, but it all felt rather unexciting. Whether this is because of the writing or some other factor, I don't know.
All in all, it's a lackluster read that isn't really exciting. It's also a very shallow story considering the fact that is had a lot to tell. This book would have read better as a longer story more so than the short story that it is.
2 stars. I have no feelings for it tbh. Read it if you want, but if you don't, you're not missing out on anything.
An alien warrior, Kaistril, kept compliant with cyborg mods, wakes when the Emperors palace is attacked, he escapes with the woman he was tasked to guard as a cyborg.
The woman , Sabralia, was a contract wife to the Emperor, and not one he cared about, he just wanted the food from her agrarian planet. But Kaistril wanted her, for herself, and returning to his home planet where his mother was Chancellor with an arm load of info tapes about the Emperor's military was a gift not to be refused in time of war.
until they're not. Two times this story uses the ruse of a cyborg not living up to all he could be. It's an interesting analytical tool seldom used in romance genres that I found refreshing. The author uses the comparison to demonstrate how much more compelling a real man is to a cyborg. However, the story is not written as an analysis but as a stimulating sci fi romance.
This was pretty cute, although was not a fan of how the book is so concerned about her safety and autonomy, but then has her making him pleasure her when he is in a position of being unable to give consent. Look, it wasn’t super bad - but it was a bit too far for my liking. Was also a bit boring by the end. But I did really enjoy aspects of this book. Maybe the premise was just better than the delivery?
Sabralia is married to the tyrant Sirn by a treaty between the two planets. As ne of his many queens, she isn't a favorite of Sirn. Qy is the cyborg who takes care of her. She wishes he were a man and capable of cuddling at night when she is lonely. Will she escape Sirn before he lets his generals have use of her body ? The story is a little slow at the start due to the setup buts soon gains speed until the reader can't put the book down. Worth reading !

She is a Queen but just an insignificant member of a harem. He is a Cyborg assigned to the care of Sabralia. When their world is attacked Kaistril awakens in his Cyborg body. As a warrior he knows what's coming and moves quickly to save them both.
This is a very interesting twist to being a Cyborg. I enjoyed it and will read further in the series.
Fun read about outer space colony type wars and humanoid interaction. A love story of a princess, maybe a queen, who disobeyed her husband and ended up being the only one to live. Her Cyborg bodyguard is there to help her escape. What happens next is the story here. Will look to other books by Meliesse Aires later.
An underage queen, sold by her guardian to buy peace with a galactic warlord, Sabralia spends her long days dreaming up romance stories about her cyborg servant. When a coup disrupts the please palace she takes the chance to flee...only her cyborg, deprived of his usual rest cycle, isn’t acting normal at all....
The book was different and At could remove his appliances plus his memory was suppressed by nightly maintenance . Plot was interesting a i look forward to reading the next book in the series
Short and spicy read. I didn't know what to make of Sabralia at first, but she proved herself and became strong. Super sexy Qy was even better when he woke up and realized he's really Kaistril. Their escape is action packed but I still have a lot of questions.
Read the author's story in pets in space, decided to try her books. This series is interesting so far. Will read on. Will look on audible for her books. Characters are interesting the sex not too much, liked the action and the h is willing to help herself.
A harem wife who should be a Queen on her home world. Her cyborg slave who was a warrior on his home world. Coups, wars, mad dashes for freedom. What more could you want?
Sexy, not what I was expecting. Starts out in a harem, goes to a starship then a military transport and a few stops between. Great futuristic sci-fi romance, enjoy.
I was not expecting what happened in this book! I really enjoyed it, though. When the attack comes and Qy begins to remember who he really is and it's not a pleasure cyborg, but a warrior...The action really starts happening. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I needed a break from all the dark reads I've been reading lately and this bit 'o fluff was just the ticket!
Sabralia is one of many wives of her king. Because she has borne no children, she has fallen out of favor and spends her time alone but for her cyborg servant Qy. She has taught him to kiss, massage, and bathe her. And he assists her when she seeks a bit more... To chase away her loneliness at night, he spoons nightly in the bed with her.
She has been told he was created from a deceased human. He must report nightly for maintenance. But when an alien species attacks the planet, he is unable to report. Sabralia is shocked when Qy "wakes up" and begins to remember who he is. Not a cyborg created after the likeness of a dead man, but an enhanced human captured and equipped with cybernetic implants, who will eventually serve more devious plans than servant to a queen.
Qy is now Kaistrel and Sabralia is terrified that her sweet, obedient servant has turned into a terrifying warrior, who remembers EVERYTHING about his previous relationship with his mistress and wants to take the relationship on to the next step. Sabralia must go with him if she has any hope of escaping the devastation and death to her planet.
This sweet, uncomplicated romance gets 3.5 stars from me. Not a story you want to analyze too deeply--just enjoy. Great for settling down the brain after too much dark scary stuff! And the best thing is that Kaistrel has three brothers each meriting their own book, which I'll definitely be checking out in between my dark reads.
