If you like multi-way sex stories, this is a reasonably good collection. The best tales in the collection push beyond the stereotypes. "Lucky Pierre" (Carol Queen) and "Blackberries" (Nalo Hopkinson) stand out in their demonstration that "official" gender orientation doesn't mean much when you're with the right people. Shanna Germain's exquisite "Remember This" brought tears to my eyes with its tale of a long-term threesome getting older. "Wives" by Kate Dominic is a hot fantasy about joining a Middle Eastern man's harem. Lawrence Schimel's "The Minyan" addresses, with a huge heart and a hard dick, the fate of an Orthodox Jewish queer. Kendra Wayne's "The Twelve Fucking Princesses" is an arch retelling of an old fairytale. "Ivo", by Alana Noel, is strange but compelling in its portrait of a submissive male bisexual, his roommate, and the woman who tames them. Jacqueline Applebee's "Celtic Tongues" brings the beauty of rural Scotland (and some kinky Scottish males) vividly to life. And I guess I should mention my own contribution, "Goldberg Variations", the tale of a string trio made up of three brothers who must find a new cellist after one of them dies. Deidre Rasinovsky-Corbatta is not at all what Al and Harvey had in mind, and she definitely shakes up their lives as well as their careers.

Quite a few of the stories in this volume were reprints that I'd read before. This rather reduced my reading pleasure, I must admit. Overall, this is a solid but not extraordinary anthology. It is mammoth, though - thirty six stories, some of them quite long.

After finishing it, you might not want to read another menage tale for a while!

In the Mammoth Book of Threesomes and Moresomes there’s a little bit of something for everyone. While comprised of newly published (in 2010) and previously published works, the anthology manages to have more than just you bang and go story lines. Linda Alvarez edits this piece and seems to get that,
the thrill lies in being the focus of so much attention – sexual attention – and, in the realm of make-believe at least, the more the merrier. Three is decidedly not a crowd, and nor is more.
And with this large body of work (over 450 pages in all), there are many different ways to explore that sexual attention.

After reading about so many people getting their freak on, I'm a little numb.

Overall a nice mix of graphic, heartfelt, and irreverent. My only criticism is of the two stories which break the glass wall back into reality. "Take Me to Carnevale" and "Don't Be Mad at Me" were sad and angsty and a bucket of cold water...
