reading this i realized one of the biggest differences between american and japanese comics. when robin, toro, pinky, bucky, speedy etc were created it was to give kids somebody their own age to identify with, however in interviews kids said they liked them because they could pretend to be the adult hero and boss/bully the sidekicks around.
manga almost always has the kid as hero in adult situations, and the manga creators are only in their twenties - little older than their readers, rarly have i found younger sidekicks.
don't know why the difference, but interesting.
saint tail is a twelve year old catholic school girl by day and Saint (pony)Tail by night a hero/thief in the robin hood/green hornet mode by night. the art is unfinished in the style of girls manga. but the faith shown is real and not insulting.

I really loved the anime when I was a kid.
It's kind of weird to read again Meimi's adventures after so much time. I probably would have appreciated this manga as a teen. As an adult (sort of) it's a bit more difficult to get involved in Meimi's adventure. She can find her way out of every situation a bit too easily and that's not challenging enough for me.
A good manga, though. I'm happy I can read it again.
