Lynnie Purcell’s “The Saints”-Book #3 in ‘The Watchers’ series

***SPOILER ALERT***

I believe that The Saints is my favorite book from this series. While all of the books share a strong sense of storytelling, I feel that this book sets itself apart in many ways.

This story is action packed, from Clare’s prison escape to the raid on Lorian’s stronghold. The Saints strongly delivers for those readers who love action and adventure. Afterall, this is what the Saints organization does best.

With the much hoped for reunion between Clare and Daniel, readers of a romantic nature are sure to be in heaven. Imagine spending weeks believing that your one true love must be dead… losing a bit more hope everyday. Then each discovers that the other is alive… unable to quite believe it until they actually see and touch each other. Love is not dead and buried but alive and well.

Finally, there are a couple of ‘good triumphs over evil’ moments for those readers looking for justice in a good story. The Saints delivers justice in spades as spies die to pay for their crimes, and everyone gets to play a part in ending an evil war that has lasted centuries.

The Saints is a book that will appeal to many different readers, including me, for all of the plot lines listed above. However, what appeals to me most in this book are the very human aspects of it. The person who was Clare experiences a transformation brought on by the pain and fear she undergoes while being held prisoner and tortured on a regular basis. While experiencing these things, she also feels the separation from her friends… her lifelines. She must overcome, depend on herself to do what must be done. Save herself. Learn to trust again. It is this journey she makes that appeals to me so much as a reader.

In the same vein, Alex’s experiences make her more than a one-dimensional character. Even though her troubles stem from a decidedly supernatural event, the effects that she feels are very human in nature. What does it feel like to be rejected by the one person you thought would be with you forever because you joined? How does that rejection change your perspective about your future? What does it do to your perpetually sunny disposition?

It is the journey of these two characters (in addition to all the cool stuff listed above) that has me fascinated and in love with this book. I recommend it highly with 5 of 5 stars, as written on my review blog https://wordpress.com/post/58334465/223.

You are brought back into the story right where The Watchers left off. Ana is bringing Clare to L.A. as a prisoner for Lorian. She is tortured for almost 2 months as they attempt to retrain her. The only thing that keeps her going, besides her stubborn attitude, is her dreams of being with Daniel. She knows she needs to fight if she wants to see him again. While she is making her escape she is injured but is rescued by a group of watchers that fight against the brothers. Their leader, Reaper, promises to help her find her friends but asks that they consider joining his group, The Saints. After being alone in their fight for so long it is difficult to accept and trust the help that is offered. Though as more and more secrets are revealed and ultimately lead to more questions they need all the help they can get.

This is the third book in the Watchers series. Anna had kidnapped Clare and taken her to Los Angeles to be given to Lorian. There, she is put through a rough, and violent re-training. Where they torture her. She is on the edge of her sanity and the only way she gets through, is her dreams. They are all about Daniel. The saints, a group of rebellious watchers rescue her.

I liked this book. There were a lot of times where I thought Clare was going to give up, or I thought someone was going to die. I'm glade that didn't happen though. There were lots of surprises and twists and turns through out the book.

Ah. I love these books. There is no longer any doubt, it's my favorite of all favorite series! And that is a very big title that I don't just go throwing around :)

In the Saints, we are introduced to new people. We learn new things about Clare. And the biggest thing of all... the build up to the final battle is getting so huge!

And you wanna know what absolutely makes these books? The conversations between Clare and Daniel! It's awesome and ALWAYs left me smiling/laughing despite the seriousness of whats going on. And I love how you always feel like you are there with Clare and Daniel and the gang.

Next stop: The Last!

I felt like even though it was a long book it wasn't that long. Maybe it was because I was never truly bored. I did get annoyed at Clare's stupidity only twice in the story which she annoyed me quite a bit on the other books. I think she's has finally come into her own. She is a survivor and I admire her for that. I just get annoyed at how she is selfish and does not stop to think of others. She wants Daniel to not be selfish but when she does it she thinks it's ok. Daniel has grown more in this book and I enjoyed seeing more of his past. The Saints organization is great and hopefully in the next book they kick some more ass.

More action and unanswered questions. Clare and Daniel have the answers, they just aren't thinking hard enough. Clare's powers are getting stronger and it's only a matter of time before she attacks full throttle. Amazing new characters, whom I love. Not all are allies as they claim to be. Again, Clare has a tendency to act before thinking about the consequences. I just hope that she's learning from her impulsive behavior. Again, awesome book 3! I'm anxious to start The Last!

This third book was consistently entertaining however, I was a little frustrated at the characters. Clare, Daniel and the rest have all the clues in front of them and yet they don’t figure things out. I hope they get a little smarter in the fourth and final book of the series. All in all I am eager to read ‘The Last’.

Another action packed addition to The Watchers series. Clare, as always, is at her best. Clare seems to be like the old Timex commercial (some of you younger folks will not have a clue as to the connection but it's still applies lol), she takes a licking and keeps on ticking. After all the bruises, cuts and abrasions she still hangs in the fight. Great read.

My favorite book so far in the series. I found some grammar issues though, not not enough to annoy me. They are getting closer to finding more about why Clare is the way she is.

Lynnie Purcell has a way of getting you invested in her story. Her characters a flawed and real, even if they are half angel.

I loved the characters, but it seemed like they spent the entire book basically just treading water. Great characters but not a lot of progression in the storyline.
