Dan Wickline is a writer/photographer/bassist living in Los Angeles, CA. In comics he has written for the 30 Days of Night and Grimm Fairy Tales franchises as well as the on-going ShadowHawk and 1001 Arabian Nights: The Adventures of Sinbad. He's also written prose for characters such as The Phantom, The Green Hornet and his own creation Lucius Fogg. As a photographer, Dan has been featured in numerous gallery shows as well as a collection of his black & white work published under the title Private Skin. Dan had a brief moment in the Hollywood spotlight playing a corpse on the hit series Dexter, but now spends his spare time as the bassist for the newly formed metal band Murder Most Foul. Dan is happily married to his lovely wife Debbie, who has an amazing capacity to put up with the insanity that is his life.
Interesting collection of back stories of Neverland characters including Tinkerbelle, Croc, Pan and Tiger Lilly. It also includes a preview story from volume 1 of The Dream Eater's Saga. Recommended for not only the stories, but the cool art.
Perhaps because I have not read ALL of the grimm fairy tales series I am mildly confused about what is going on in this one.
I really enjoyed the Tinkerbell story that this started with. I felt like it was a pretty self contained story (with the ending tying into the main series). The others felt like less of stand alone and I struggled as a result.
As always, with this series, the art style was inconsistent and that can be confusing and distracting.
Overall, I enjoyed the art (as always it is very sexualized). I also grabbed onto Hook. So, a review on that will follow once I've completed it.
For some reason this was just not my cup of tea. Still good - granted I adore this series as a whole so I am slightly biased - but not the best. Hopefully as I read more from the Neverland side of things I will appreciate the foundations provided here.
Beautiful, vaguely erotic artwork but the stories portrayed these vicious characters which generally acted cruel without motive - a little too dark and violent for my taste...
