"You look terrible. Why in the world do you wear that silly ponytail? And put on some eye makeup. Your face looks about as interesting as an undercooked pancake.”
I’m remember reading this when I was younger..... a lot younger. It did bring back some fond memories though.
Megan wasn’t as klutzy as I remembered or wanted her to be. Boys don’t make us all choke on pizza.
I really enjoyed this book when I was in Junior high and cannot wait for my daughter to read it. This book is funny, cute and well written. The book relates to how lots of early teen girls feel everyday and shows them self confidence is all you need.
This was one of my favorites as a pre-teen, so I decided to read it again before I gave it to my daughter to read. I still love this book. Sure, it is a little hokey, but I think it gives a good message of accepting your flaws and realizing your gifts.
Megan wants to have a talent, any talent, like the rest of her family. So when her friend invites her to join a play, she goes for it. I remember getting this at a school book fair in 3rd or 4th grade. I loved it so hard, and it's amazing how much of it I still remember. Helen Mae who tried to go by Helena, Chris wearing all white every day, the painted rocks that look cuddly. I think this was even what made me long for charm school my whole life--a place that teaches you how to talk to people, what to expect in situations, and how to be prepared? Um, YES, please!
Minus two comments about Helen Mae's weight, this honestly held up decently well from 1986.
I found this book in a Little Library and couldn't resist reading it due to the title. Also, it is a YA teen romance from 1986 when I was in high school and I loved teen romances. I enjoyed the story, but it was not well written. It did have more substance than the original premise.
Megan is a klutz. She has a crush on handsome, wealthy Chris. She's so messy she gets pizza all over herself. Can she meet a boy? There turned out to be more to the story. (4 stars for nostalgia)
This book has a good ending... but the way her friends talk to her is just absolute bullshit. Who treats their friends that way and makes fun of them? I absolutely hated the dialogue and the way her friends aren’t supportive at all of who she is.
Too cute! Another random find on here that I read forever ago.... I remember this one being laugh out loud funny, and the Megan the Klutz title is just too close to home! haha
haha I got this for a friend of the same name who was very clumsy. I also got her some other books with suggestive titles like "Why don't you ever go home!" and others as a way to make a point about how I really felt about her. She was a toxic friend, but I tried to joke about it and keep it in perspective. Oh the memories.
Childhood favorite, my first chapter book (I was so proud of that!) but I don't know what happened to my copy. I just remember liking Megan and thinking she'd be a really fun friend, if not for her klutziness. She tries to overcome her teenage awkwardness by doing a play, and has some entertaining results!
A Tice Kid Classic. For some reason, I associate this more with Philip. Maybe because I saw it there on his side of the room. Who knows. But it was fun reading about a girl who was so klutzy. It made me feel better.
LoL, I read this forever ago but it was one of my faves in junior high. It's cute and perfect for the artsy and awkward tween in you. I still have it if you want to borrow it Zack. =D
i love it.. great story, day-dreaming evry thing.. Mehan also reminds me of Jeanette the chipette, Helen-Mae Eleanor the chipette .. and Carla- Brittany the chipette
