About the author

Max Kruse was the youngest of seven children of the artist family Kruse - his father was the sculptor Max Kruse, his mother the famous doll maker Käthe Kruse. He was best known for his children's books, especially his "Urmel" series, but has written for adults, too. His works have been translated into many languages.

Pretty intense for such a young intended audience. This reads like a plea for vegetarianism packaged in a weird sci-fi children's book. Great!

Not as good as the first one. I read this one to a 4y old. Parts of the book are also definitely not suited for that age (trapping Wutz and Urmel to eat them)

I have so much love for the Urmel books. They are definitely among my favourite children books and I've reread them many times, even as an adult.
