When Gord moved in more than ten years ago, he brought along his crockpot. He'd gotten it as a wedding present with his first wife back in 1976. I'd never used a crockpot so stored it away. Then I saw that my pal, Angie, was making crockpot meals. It sounded easy so I got ours out ... and it was very easy yet yummy.
This book appealed to me because I thought it would be fun to expand past just chicken pieces and a bottle of BBQ sauce (though delicious) ... and it was.
It starts with "Slow Cooker 101", which was helpful and I learned a lot.
Then on to the 200 recipes, which are divided up into different sections and lots of colourful pictures:
* All-day breakfast - yes, you can make French toast and banana bread! * Nibbles, dips and drinks * Soups * Beef, veal and lamb * Pork * Turkey and chicken * Meatless mains * Side dishes * Dessert - how about some pears poached in red wine or Christmas pudding?
So far, we've made three things from this book and they were yummy:
Cooking, hot tub, videos and even steamy reading for me! So what do you want me to share with you? Well let's start off with some really great food that was easy to prepare. Best of Bridge Slow Cooker Cookbook was a great help. It was very different than what we Southern women are use to in a crock pot cookbook. This is from Canada and from what we see in this book there is not as easy access to fresh food. So it has more canned and frozen food used. But there are some good recipes.
Nessa love the Sunrise-Sunset Apple Bacon Strata. Of course it has bacon so you know we are all there for that! I am partial to the Sweet Potato Cannelloni but I have always been a fan of the yam. It is great that there are tips for using a slow cooker. Many people have not been introduced to them. JD tried to make beans the other day while she was at work. When she opened the door to the apartment building she could already smell the burnt beans. Yes high is not a good place to cook them ALL day.
I thought this was a wonderful compliation of some really terrific recipes. Everything I have tried so far has been rather tasty, and I still have a long way to go to get through each recipe I am interested in trying. This is one of the best slow cooker cookbooks I have seen thus far.
Received this book for Christmas. Love it so far! So many tasty adventures to go on. Recipes are as always, well laid out and easy to read with easily obtainable ingredients. The photographs are lovely, they make me hungry just flipping through the book.
