Gerald, Cathy and Jimmy are out exploring when they discover an enchanted castle. Even better, they meet a princess who says she has a ring of invisibility. But how much is she making up - and how much is pure magic?
Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.
I can't speak for the 1907 Edith Nesbit "original book . . . much longer and harder to read than this one." This 2007 condensed version, adapted by Lesley Sims, a small picture book 62 pages, seems less than gripping.
I love this book. The children are so imaginative and willing to take things into their own hands to have a good time. Its a great blend of fantasy and reality (or escape from reality) to take you back to childhood.
