Mom and kid tested and it was incredible! This book I found at the library and then I bought it. The Vanilla Pear was an amazing combo. They are all good for you and full of nutrients.
I have a smoothie every day. While I don't use milks, I just use water and instead of ice, I use frozen fruits, then add my own supplements.
This book has really interesting combinations. The Pumpkin Pie one we had as a treat and it was well loved by all of us. I love books that can just give me a jumping off spot. I would not have thought of some of these combination and I can substitute ingredients I can't eat.
Every single recipe calls for ice. I really don't like adding ice to my smoothies, but I know lots of people do and I may be in the minority in this opinion. I really did like reading about the various ingredients, and I may try some of the recipes using juice instead of water and ice.
Lots of good ideas. A lot of the recipes in the White section use kefir as a base or coconut milk. I normally do smoothies for breakfast, which means before I run. I don't like to have dairy in my stomach when I run. It doesn't sit well. But they do sound good, maybe post workout or post run. Also a lot of coconut milk in the first section, which is very high calorie. I could see subbing it with coconut water or almond milk, though.
The straight veggie smoothies (cauliflower, garlic, mushroom???). Do not sound good as a smoothie to me, but I bet warmed up as a soup they'd be good. There really isn't many of those recipes in the book, though. 95% of it is on the sweeter side, even the green ones.
So I have some new ideas and combos to try - yay!!!
It has some really good information about what nutrient each fruit brings to the table. I probably won't try all of the recipes, but a few sound pretty good!
