Isle of Bones, book one

It was a quick, easy read.
If I remember, this was a free download. Even though it was an enjoyable read, I'm not tempted to look for the rest of the series.

Come stalk the streets of The Demon Isle... you'll go up against witches, vampires, werewolves, demons, shapeshifters, ghosts, mermaids, faeries and a host of other devious supernatural creatures waiting to wreak havoc on The Demon Isle. Where fans of the paranormal come to vacation and immerse themselves in fantasy. Where magic comes to life, mysteries abound, and you might just find yourself laughing, crying, and most definitely, falling in love.

I enjoyed the flow of this story, it reminded me of the Hardy Boys detective books and Witches Mountain.

The characters were fun and I enjoyed this story. You have siblings growing into their powers and being responsible for something bigger than them.

It lead me into the next book … A father daughter team up to what? Siblings in search for a parent, an old friend that has taken on the guardianship of the siblings. Whats up with this moon? Whats up with this dark haired fellow that has been coincidentally appearing?

So with these questions… is it enough for me to continue on with this series?

Nice Work!

Fun little story.
This book has the potential to become an incredible series.
Romance, master and the parabormal... who could ask for anything more?!...

I wonder how many times the title of this book will change? I have seen it and its cover change more than once since publication in 2012. A good way to ruin a following is to keep changing things without letting your reader base know what is going on!

Hoping to buy the series, but, even now, I am finding that it is even listed under a different author's name...?

Real girl

OK this isn't a bad book just kind of missing something to push it to great. Her secret love of her vampire protector brothers that are caught up in protecting her and wanting to make her own way

Not bad

This book wasn't bad. Kind of slow, but I'm sure it would get faster into the next book. This one was a bit short.

This story had potential but in this story it just got the introduction of the main characters. Nothing was finished. The writer did a good job of describing the characters and defining their powers and flaws, but then it ended. It left me feeling the story was incomplete. I know that series you always want to leave something to entice the reader to the next book but it fell short.

I think I like the idea of this book more than the execution. I like the characters, I like the story, but it needs some editing and more writing to make me love it.

This feels more like the start of a story, rather than giving me a satisfying conclusion. I understand it is part of a series, but this just doesn't feel like a whole story to be published alone, but the first section in a longer work. And, even then, I think it needs some rewriting to expand the characters, take out the overwritten explanations and provide more show don't tell.

I think the author had certain scenes clearly in mind, but not all of the ideas get onto the page, which means the pace is far too quick for my taste. Any suspense is left between stories, not in this actual story, which, since it is being presented as a standalone work, left me dissatisfied. Everything is in question-answer pairs and the only answer to be given in this story comes far too quickly, even episodes of TV shows usually take longer to get to the point.

So, I gave this book a three star review for the ideas, but I'd have liked more plot.

This book was very short and a bit confusing in the beginning but as i was reading the book it took me to a faraway place where three siblings are very famous for their talents and the talents of the family that came before them. The way the book flowed so well in such a short time period was awesome.

The three siblings have a constant companion in a vampire who was once their guardian after an accident left the three without parents, which no one can ever explain or show proof that foul play was involved until in an unlikely turn of events the siblings find that a good friend is part Spirit vessel and can allow the dead to overtake her body in order to talk to the living. Its always fun to read about siblings that can take on so much responsibility but at the same time all one of the siblings wants is to get away from the history and the heritage that is their family in search of something more in life.

I loved how the characters interacted with such ease and didn’t seem to be out of place in this short story. I would recommend this story to anyone with an interest in the paranormal and at the same time a bit of romance as well.

So I liked this book...kind of. Now let me explain. I did like this book, I liked the characters, they were charismatic with stories and voices that I liked. The premise of the story is kind of cool, a family protecting their home with powers that people don't know they have and then how they are heroes. However...the characters and story are a bit under developed since the book is so extremely short and there are definitely spots in the story that can be fleshed out by giving us more detail. I also hate, hate, hate books that are extremely short and that abruptly end. What is the point especially if you are writing a sequential book that almost just picks up from the previous story by picking up the last sentence. It annoys me, just keep writing the first book and be done it. I was able to get the first book for free but I would have to pay to get the next book which is equally as short so I'm choosing not to read it which is too bad.

I enjoyed the characters in this book and the plot was engaging. There is a nice lot of supernatural goings on and a story well woven to make you think and not instantly know what is happening. I often have the issue of being able to figure out a plot the moment all the characters have been introduced, but this one had me wondering. There was enough information to keep me interested, but not too much so it was written up in neon who did what to whom and when.

I haven't given it five stars because I found some parts of the book a little overwritten and stilted. It wasn't enough to make me want to put the book down, but every now and then it made me notice the writing rather than staying completely engaged in the story.

A good book, well worth a read and I am now going to go buy the sequel.

I finished this book in about a day and a half, it was definitely a quick read but a good one. Although I say it was "good" I'm giving the book 3 stars because I simply "liked" it and nothing more. I admit that my favorite part was probably when Melinda fell into the arms of that mysterious boys (romance junkie here). But other than Melinda the only other character I liked was William. I think the author really made his character more believable because of his manner of speech, so very gentlemanly and all. This book felt more of a set up for the series itself and maybe that's why it was a bit lackluster. It has potential though, I might read the other books if I ever get around to purchasing them.

Demon Island is full of the paranormal and the supernatural, protected by the Howard witches and a vampire named William. Four years earlier, the Howard children lost their parents. Although, the bodies were never recovered, the town believed they died together. Until the spirit of their mother told a different story. And, the skeletonal remains of a man was found in the underground caves brings up more questions of the safety of the island. Unfortunately for the reader there is no ending to the story, until you read the other books. The reader is left hanging until the next story is read.

A Ghostly guardian

I loved this book it has a mysterious, magical feeling when you read it. The part I enjoyed most was how the author gives you a taste of each character and their personal thoughts and feelings. I highly recommend this book to those who are looking for a little magic in their lives. I also can't wait until I read the next one and stay on the edge of my seat anxious to know what will happen on the next page.

This isn't a bad book, the characters are likable, the plot is sound and the idea is cool but if feels slightly rushed in places and changing POV almost mid paragraph is annoying as hell so the feel of the book goes from 'slick' to 'amateur' in a matter of pages. I think it would make for a really good holiday read for anyone in their teens or early 20's and there is a good number in the series so it would make for some spectacular binge reading.

Reading this book was a bit confusing because it doesn't tell the story from one POV. It just keeps changing POV, sometimes after four lines. Therefor I wasn't always sure who thought what.
I did like the story though, especially because so many things were happening at the same time: three potential romances, a ghost attack, a sea hag attack, who is the motorcycle guy and what's Eva up to? I hope to find some of the answers in the next book.

This book gives you just enough to make you want more - arg!

The synopsis is fairly accurate, though it doesn't give away much of the plot (for better or worse). Lots of familiar strife, but ending with love for each other, mystery, some hints of romance to come (or not), and of course paranormal happenings.

I found this story to just be okay. I didn't dislike it but I didn't enjoy it a lot either. I liked the premise of the book and the characters were likable but it just needed something more for me to became engaged into the story. Overall, I think the series has potential but I doubt that I will continue reading the next volumes.

I was lucky enough to obtain the whole series (books 1-9) to read for reviewing purposes. Since starting with the beginning of the series I quickly became enveloped into the problems of the Howard Witches and their duties as protectors of Demon Isle. Really good read and had me quickly going to the next book in the series.

Absolutely loved the whole series. The stories were a bit short and in certain areas could have used a bit more explaining, but all in all it is an amazing easy story to follow and I would recommend it to anyone who is into supernatural without all the adult part.

My first encounter with this author and I am impressed. Easy to read, story flowed easily and I was was left looking eagerly towards the next in the series. My only disappointment was that the story was far too short. I would still recommend it just on its enjoyment factor alone.

Good story idea. There were minor editing mistakes. I feel like I could let my daughter read this series. Short story as I finished it in one day.

It's ok

This is an ok read. The characters voices in this book are all very much alike. The reactions the characters have to situations are not very believable.
