About the author

Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

It's getting better and better. Things started to fall into place, i finally feel for the characters ,love'em and the story got even more exciting and addicting. It's like "Now.. the real journey begins!" Haha
One thing i love about this manga is it cracked me up all the time. 😂

I can sense that this manga series will become one of my favorites for sure. 😋👍🏻

PEOPLE'S DREAMS DON'T EVER END!

One thing I really have to applaud One Piece for, here, is pacing: we've just finished up with the biggest and most climactic story arc in the series, that's held our attention for ever since they first came on Grand Line, so it's time to chill out a bit, lower the stakes, start up a new adventure in slow-mo. There's a lot to like in solving a seemingly unrelated sea mystery, in shipwrecks and diving, in a small lawless island with the authentic pirate atmosphere. Diabolical masterminds give way to small-time crooks: not only does it let us breathe, it's also an opportunity to show just how far the Straw Hats have come since the journey began, how much they've grown, and how powerful they've become in the grand scheme of things.

Plenty of great little jokes and gags to laugh at, too. And weird new characters to also laugh at. And Bellamy to laugh at soon.

And yet it still manages to set things up for later. There's a new big story in the horizon, and though it hasn't really gotten started yet, you can hear it rumbling. Some of the things it sets up for later still, such as a chance meeting at a saloon...

Reading One Piece in these volumes becomes even more entertaining. The story and character development are truly amazing, making each new chapter a delight. The evolving dynamics and deepening bonds among the crew members add layers of excitement, keeping readers eagerly turning the pages.

One Piece, Vol. 24 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (217–226) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon begins the Jaya Arc. Indebted to Monkey D. Luffy for rescuing her, Nico Robin joins the Straw Hat Pirates. On their first adventure, an old ship falls from the sky. Rummaging through some of its remains, while dealing with a rival salvaging crew led by the monkey-like Masira, and nearby monstrous sea creatures, the Straw Hats discover the fallen ship has come from Skypiea, an island high in the sky.

Unsure of how to reach it, the Straw Hats visit a nearby port on the island of Jaya. There they meet Bellamy, a pirate who looks down on Luffy, and mocks his dreams of becoming Pirate King. Luffy, who had promised Nami not to fight in the town, allows himself to be beaten up and bullied by Bellamy.

The Straw Hats then proceed to another part of Jaya to meet a man who might have a lead on how to reach Skypiea. However, they must first get past Masira's brother Shōjō and his crew.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. The crew tearfully leaves Nefeltari Vivi behind and continues on their journey with Ms. All Sunday, aka Nico Robin, joining as an archaeologist. When a ship inexplicably falls from the sky and the Log Pose begins pointing up, they go to the island of Jaya for information on "Sky Island". There, they encounter Bellamy, a pirate who is heralding a "New Age" where pirates do not dream, and a man named Mont Blanc Cricket.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 24 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

Cierre de Arabasta y principio del arco de la isla del cielo 🙊 skypia jajjaj tenía cositas que comentar pero siempre se terminan olvidando 😅

Bueno partir por Robin, he de reconocer que las veces anteriores cuando ví/leí está parte Robin no me agradó incluso aunque luego conocí su historia no me terminaba de convencer como personaje 👉🏼👈🏼 pero en esta ocasión, desde la parte en que dice que no tiene motivos por los que vivir o cuando dice que lo único que quería era conocer la verdadera historia, es que me emocioné. Ahora la miro con otros ojos jajaj después su pasión por la arqueología y en fin todo eso, estoy ansiando llegar a water seven 🥰

Luego por el contrario a Robin, tengo un acercamiento a Barbanegra y uyyy que le tengo rencor a ese personaje, es que no lo aguanto 😒

Bellamy lo tengo metido en la cabeza pero no puedo recordar por qué 🥲 y mi hermano no me quiere decir xd

Y pues eso más que nada, ahora vamos a dónde Criquet aunque no recuerdo si se escribía así o no 😅🙈

So intrigued by Robin and her decision to join the Straw Hats. I think she's a great addition to the crew, and I can already predict so many arguments between her and Nami. And she really needed a good adversary instead of Sanji fawning over her all the time (and I love Sanji)!

A fun beginning to the Skypeia arc! The mystery of an island in the sky! I appreciate the build-up to this island instead of just showing up there. Reminds me a bit of what Oda did with Alabasta, but instead of political intrigue now we have a mystery!

Finally, I have some time to continue my re-read of this gem. What I remember Skypia arc was not one of my favourites. Nevertheless, the great imagination of Oda is starting to show. We meet humanoid Apes, weird ships, sky Islands and of course a proper bully Bellamy.

It is very funny and satisfying to read something like this if you know what will happen in like 50 volumes. Oda has great character work and in here he starts to show the bigger threads. Bellamy, sky Island and most importantly Blackbeard.

I can't wait to dive into in back once more!

2025 reread : on this reread I appreciate the title of volumes/chapters much more than on previous reads. The title of this volume is well picked, since it starts with us learning about Robin's dream and pretty much ends with Black Beard stating that people will always have dreams.
This truly marks the end of the Alabasta arc and the start of the next one. It's nice to not get emotionally destroyed for once (I know what lays ahead...), sadly I don't have much more to say about this book. Except maybe the fact that I think it is sweet that Robin is the first person to ask to be part of Luffy's crew rather than him doing the recruiting.





This is very much a transition book. It still has cool stuffs. Like Robin, the introduction of angel islands and new characters popping in. It's not boring and actually a pretty nice moment of calm before a new arc.

Clueless as to how to reach the mysterious sky island, the crew encounters odd monkey-like seafarers and other pirates who mock their goal.

Nothing stands in their way to this day and once they set their mind on something, they clearly do everything in their means to achieve it, and this volume proves it.

Mostly serving as an introduction to new faces, things are about to get more interesting.

Robin joins the crew and as they are going forward they learn of this Sky Island and find some ship and legend continues. They meet Magira Pirates, have a face off in a bar against Bellamy Hyena and his crew while at the same time meeting Shoujou PIRATES king Shoujou and seems like they have to face off against him next! It was a good quick read and deepens the mystery about the SKY ISLAND!
