Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Myers

She's sworn off weddings…

After two failed relationships and six stints as a bridesmaid, Stephanie Ludlow is convinced she's man-poison. So when her hormones point due south to her sexy—but not so charming—new landlord, she can't help the sparks that fly. It's a good thing she's declared a strict "no sex" policy, because Mike Brubaker might as well have "it's not happening" tattooed across his delectable chest.

He's sworn off love…

Spurned single dad Mike has learned the hard way women are the source of all evil and should be avoided at any cost. And that definitely includes his gorgeous new tenant. But when they're thrown together in the wedding party from hell, both will stop at nothing to fight the heat building between them. Giving in is not an option for either of them.

May the best man—or woman—win.

Oh la la la... I wanted to be be Stephanie in this story! Mike is dead sexy and a great father. So while Stephanie and Mike debated whether or not it was a good time for them to be in a relationship I wanted to barge in and bitch-slap Stephanie (no offense really, just needed the distraction) and drag Mike out by his man parts to my car for a little one on one time. Great story, perfect writing, lovable characters, and one grade A quality beef what's not to like?

For me I pictured Mike as Gerard Butler...

And Olivia Wilde is a great choice for Stephanie...

Although the authors choice of John Barrowman works for me to....

Overall this was a great read, go buy it immediately. Then come back and tell us who your "Mike" is. We really want to know, comment here or upload a pic to Deliciously Sexy Book Boyfriends.

When Stephanie gets evicted from her rental she must quickly find another place to stay. She's in a tough position, so when a room in a beautiful house is immediately available, she jumps at the chance and takes it. When she gets a look at her new landlord, Mike, sparks fly. He's totally sexy. Here's a bit of the scene from when they just meet:

She heard shuffling, fumbling sounds from the other side of the door, and then it opened to reveal a broad-shouldered, flat-stomached man dressed in faded purple pajama pants--and nothing else…..Feelings she would have sworn were long dormant suddenly clamored for attention. Her heart pounded. She forced her gaze up to the man's face. He had thick brown hair, tousled as if he'd just awakened; a strong jaw shadowed with dark stubble; and piercing blue eyes. Sleepy eyes. Sexy eyes.

This is definitely an inconvenience, because Stephanie is not looking for relationship. Her past two have been failures. Also, Stephanie's mother and father divorced when she was sixteen, after twenty-years of marriage. So her experiences with love have left something to be desired. Add to that, Stephanie is working and going to school to obtain her masters. She has absolutely no time.

Mike has been burned by love as well. Married to what he thought was the love of his life and then dumped for someone else. He no longer buys into "happily ever after" and has no desire to get into any serious relationship. As far as Mike's concerned, the only true love in his life is his nine-year old son, Ryan. He's happy to make him his prime focus and concern, so when he feels an instant attraction to Stephanie, he does everything to fight it.

Both Stephanie and Mike are reluctant lovers and push each other away because of their fear of getting hurt. I have to say that I favored Stephanie more than Mike. She made it abundantly clear that she wasn't thrilled with starting a relationship with her circumstances but even more so if it was a no-strings-attached situation. She knew her heart couldn't take it. Mike seemed to agree with her for the most part but kept pushing a physical relationship only. He finally smartened up as the story progressed, but his attitude towards relationships started to really bug me.

Always a Bridesmaid was a cute, quick and enjoyable read. It's only 139 pages so you could easily read it in one sitting. A perfect summer afternoon or beach read.

2.5 stars. This was another contemp romance standard. Not bad, not great.

The problem for me with books like this is that there's nothing really worth writing about in the review. It was a cute love story. There, I'm done. See?

Was it even all that cute? I don't know. Mike and Stephanie were thrown together because Mike needed someone to rent a room and Stephanie needed a room to rent. They each thought the other was attractive, yet couldn't seem to explain their feelings (it's called lust, people). Mike fought the relationship because he wanted to put his son first, which of course bugged me. My feelings weren't nearly as disenchanted as I've felt in the past about other books handling a similar subject (*cough* Perfect Play) but I still wish authors would quit writing all single parents as these self-sacrificing doormats who let their kids decide their happiness.

I was somewhat grateful that Stephanie got tired of Mike's nonsense :

But what kind of grown man - even a father - let a nine year old dictate how he handled personal relationships? She was not a parent, but wasn't Mike taking his concern for his son too far?

At least someone in this book had some sense.

What else can I say? From the title, I think I was hoping for a story mirroring 27 Dresses, which wasn't even all that exciting but at least the "dress" parts of the story were amusing.

Maybe this story would have been better if there hadn't been such a disconnect of the couple fighting their feelings, then going straight into admitting their love. This is one book which might have benefitted from a few extra chapters of the couple getting to know one another. Either that, or the side stories with the friends and relatives could have been scaled back.

I'd recommend this book to people looking for a quick and simple love story. The book is a fast read and if you're in the mood to sit down with a light romance that will zip by in no time, this might be the book for you. Like I pointed out earlier...not bad, not great.

Another forgettable contemp filed away on the read shelf...

SUMMARY (50 words or less)
Based on the title I had a different idea of how this story was going to go. But in the end, I can’t say I’m unhappy with the storyline. It was good with just enough conflict, bad boy like behavior and spiciness to keep me interested from beginning to end.

Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Myers was a fun and quick read that entertained me, but didn’t really wow me. I really liked the main protag Stephanie, but I didn't really come to like Mike at all in this book. He seemed so negative and just over the top broody in a not so sexy way. I like brooding characters, but Mike’s personality just came off to be more grumpy and negative than anything else.

There were parts of the book that felt really rushed and random. Towards the end of the story, it felt a bit jumpy and disorganized and finally the ending came out of left field.

I felt some characters were thrown in to be fillers. For example, Stephanie's dad and Grace could have been substituted with a better parallel story line. Nicole, the roomate, was so poorly developed that she could have been excluded all together. I actually liked Ilsa and Justin, and I would have liked to read a bit more about these two characters.

I think 3 stars if fair and quite generous. I liked it to some degree despite its flaws. Just okay, IMO.

This was a really fun, quick read for me! I felt like I started it and then blinked and it was done, but I really enjoyed the romance between Stephanie and Mike. They had great chemistry, and the 'will they or won't they' kept me anxiously waiting for the sparks to start flying!!

I loved that Stephanie was independent and strong, she handled her life like she wanted to be in control and have the final say in her choices. The pain from her past relationships was keeping both her and Mike from moving forward, and they were both terrified of facing the same pain they had before. She and Mike had both been in love, thinking nothing could go wrong, and then lost it all, so it was understandable that they were scared to take that step again. I was more empathetic to Mike's situation, because he had really made a life, home, and future for his family, only to have his wife leave for someone else. It crushed him, and the fact that he had to live in the very house that he designed and built for his perfect little family was just so sad.

I liked the roommate factor, with Stephanie and Mike having to face their attraction to each other as they went about their lives at home. Mike was very sexy; with his overt flirtation and muscle-clad body, I was sold!! He and Stephanie had an instant attraction, and I just loved the moments when they were trying to deny their attraction to each other but were struggling to keep their composure! Sparks were flying and I was so ready for them to just give in!! =)

I would have given this book 5 stars if everything hadn't been quite so rushed. If the book had been even just a few chapters longer, the relationship wouldn't have felt so rushed, and we could have had a glimpse of their future instead of the story just kind of dropping off. This would have been perfect if more time had passed for the story to develop more, but I really enjoyed it as it was!!

I have for a very long been a fan of the authors work and this time I loved the "fight" between her characters Stephanie and Mike. The book was a cute little romance about as the blurb suggests two people trying their darnest to not fall for each other, purely due to having love and lost at one stage in both their lives.I really loved the spark in this one !

I loved how the author brought the characters together and added just enough heat in the bedroom to ensure it to not be too over done for a contemporary romance.I also adored how the author took me behind the pain to such a extent that I felt more than just emotionally connected with the book. I cried, I laughed and I even yelled which is something that does not happen on a regular basis! !

The book was not only adorable it was a also a very quick read -the perfect pick me up for when you need to escape to a world of romance. Beautifully written and a very memorable read.

This was a cute and easy to read romance. There were some great scenes and sweet moments. My only issue with this book was its ending. I would have been more satisfied there was just a bit more about how the characters ended up. I think an epilogue would have given a bit of balance - after spending so many pages getting to that point and then....

I really enjoyed this and will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

This book was OK. It was about ordinary people living a very ordinary life. The plot was nothing special, very predictable, and no twist or turns. I don't regret reading it but I wouldn't read it again. I liked the characters and it was a quick read which is nice once in a while.

I would recommend read it at the park while kids play or throw it in your purse and pull it out when your in a waiting room, its not a book that requires a lot of concentration.

I give it 3 stars, not a great book but fun!

A cute and sweet story...

Stephanie has had it when it comes to relationships. She's decided her time is better spent going back to school, getting her Masters, gaining experience outside of her dad's company. Between work, and school, she simply has no time for any kind of relationship, whether a fling or long lasting. Truth be told, she doesn't want to bother with going thru the emotions of meeting a guy, getting to know him, figuring out whether things may or may not work. At least, this is what she thinks until she meets Mike, her new landlord.

Mike, just like Stephanie, wants no attachments of any kind with anyone. He's open to flings, but runs the other way (yes, he can be a jerk) when things start to get serious with his conquests. His excuse for having friends with benefits is that he doesn't want to hurt his son... that's a lame excuse if you ask me, but you know how guys are if you let them, ha!

All isn't perfect on either Stephanie's or Mike's lives, but they want it to be. Why? Because they want to pretend the attraction they feel for each other is not there. They want to pretend everything is great and that they don't need to give into temptation as temptation may rock their world, and put their lives upside down. And guess what? Tempation is too daring and hard to ignore.

Overall, this was a cute and sweet read. In my opinion there might've been room for more development in the "bedroom" scenes. The story talks about the "great sex", but I thought to make it "great" more should've happened behind closed doors. For me, whenever a character thinks things such as: "sex is great, s/he is a great lover", I expect to read the details of what makes him/her a great lover, not just read what the receipient thought of their time together. However, I don't want to short-change the story, as overall it was pretty good.

Always A Bridesmaid Review on K-Books

"That was the woman I love, running out of my life."

Always A Bridesmaid is yet another book from Entangled's Indulgence line that I have fallen head over heels in love with. Another Entangled Romance that had me swooning and left me breathless.

Stephanie is sick of always being a bridesmaid but never a bride. She wants romance and love, but love doesn't always work out with her. But when she moves into a new house and she meets the gorgeous new landlord/roommate sparks fly. Afterall he's gorgous why wouldn't they? But Mike is sworn off love, after his failed marriage he is determined never to trust a woman again. Until he meets Stephanie. Could it be that two broken-hearted people just need each other to fix themselves and have a new chance at love?

I loved this book. I loved, loved, loved it. It's just incredible and I just wanna read it again. It was amazing and it had me swooning and as always refusing to stop reading until the characters got their act together and admitted their feelings for each other. Which was, surprise, surprise, right at the very end. I love these kinda books even though they irritate me to no end and I always know what's going to happen within the first chapter. Call me a hopeless romantic, a sucker for a love-story, whatever, I'm gonna agree with you I am definitely both of those things which is why I cannot stop reading these books. I love them all.

As always the characters in this book were amazing, though sometimes you kinda wanted to bang both their heads together and say "yea you've been hurt. So what? Open your eyes to what's in front of you!" Stephanie is an awesome heroine and I loved her. I loved her mixed emotions. She was falling for Mike but didn't want to be hurt, and the same goes for Mike. I loved their relationship and the scenes that they had together.

This is an incredible romance story that any fans of Entangled's other romance titles will love.
Amazing.

Stephanie knows she's wading into deep waters when she starts lusting after her housemate/landlord, Mike. Mike has a nine year old son and a bitter divorce in his recent history. However neither of them can deny there's chemistry between them. They try to fight it--especially since Stephanie has been burnt before by love, but it's hard to fight something that could mend both their broken hearts.

Always a Bridesmaid is a book with soul and emotion that skirts the edges of women's fiction by having a guaranteed happily-ever-after of a romance, but the firm setting in reality is there. At one point, poor Stephanie is dealing with a clogged toilet and has to get her landlord to help with it. This could be a book about your neighbors or your best friend or your cousin.

The author is a very good writer and the writing in this book ranked up there with the greats of contemporary romance like Nora Roberts or Debbie Macomber. The characters are distinct and three dimensional. The writing style and descriptions are that of an experienced writer. The book has a very polished feel.

I typically read to escape and this wasn't an escape so much as watching a couple fall in love despite a lot of work. If you've been in a relationship any length of time, there will be that moment when you think, "Being in love shouldn't be this hard." It's a cruel slap of reality that love overcomes. I felt like that while reading this book.

There was a really brilliant line in this book:

Maybe that was the real test of love, when you found someone with whom you could share you innermost feelings and fears without being afraid you were giving away too much.

***

I think the reason I four star (liked it) and didn't five star (love it) is ultimately personal--I have too many friends going through divorces and fighting custody battles right now. There wasn't enough humor to cut through that feeling of too much reality. In fact, I disagree with humorous romance tag. This wasn't a "fun" read. It was deep, emotional, and the characters were very true-to-life. This was a very good book--and if you like your contemporary romances to read like it could be happening to you or a friend, this is the book for you.

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures

I’ve decided it had to be fate, I had just requested Always a Bridesmaid to review and then I hopped over to Guilty Pleasures to find an interview with the author. Although Cindi has 50 published books, she is a new to be author and I’m happy to say I’ll be checking out her other books soon.

Always a Bridesmaid is the story of two people who have loved and lost. For Stephanie not only romantically but also when her Mom up and left her and her dad when she was 16. I don’t think even she realized how much that affected her. Mike on the other hand was married. He’s a single Dad with shared custody and trying to do what’s best for his son. He’s somewhat cynical about marriage and commitment and doesn’t realize how much this affects him day in and day out and how other people see him.

Stephanie is a grad student who also works for her Dad. She’s independent, capable, and determined not to let anything or anyone get in the way of her goals. Mike owns a construction firm, he’s comes across as somewhat of a jerk but in reality he’s insecure. Neither of them are prepared for the sparks that fly when they meet.

After a couple of impromptu kisses, these two decide that they need to keep their distance. They eventually give in to the attraction but because of Mike’s son, Ryan, they keep their relationship somewhat hidden. Add in Mike’s ex-wife, her new boyfriend, Stephanie’s dad and his lady friend, and their housemates and well….hidden is easier said than done.

This is a very well thought out and well written story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The entire cast of characters and their feelings were believable. I completely understood why they did the things they did. Even though they are somewhat damaged, Stephanie and Mike are quite likeable and their relationship interesting. The supporting cast offered great variety and perspective, something you don’t always get in a romance novel. Always a Bridesmaid is a charming book that just proves no matter what you think you want in life, things change and sometimes change is good, really good!

Always a Bridesmaid was my first novel by Cindi Myers. I enjoyed everything about this novel except for the romance between Stephanie Ludlow and Mike Brubaker. I know crazy right? I really enjoyed Ms. Myers fluid, easy-to-read writing style, but I had trouble believing in the relationship/attraction/connection between Stephanie and Mike. I think it had a lot to do with how wishy-washy they were about their feelings, wants, and desires. They were like: Yes, I want to be with. No, we can't be together. Screw it, let's be together. Oh, we should slow things down. Yes, lets love each other forever. Agh! I understood that they were both a little jaded when it came to love because they had both been hurt and walked out on before, but they didn't really get my sympathy. They "wanted" my sympathy so much that in the end, I couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for them. I just wanted them to make up their damn minds about what they wanted in life: a relationship or no relationship. Also, I didn't really feel like they built a foundation for a lasting relationship. They didn't interact or connect enough for my liking.

On to the good...

I really, really enjoyed the non-romance aspects of this novel. In Always a Bridesmaid, Mike and his ex-wife are raising their son together. Mike genuinely wanted to do right by his son, and his concern for his son's well-being was very endearing. Certain moments really melted my heart, like when Mike saw a picture of his son with his ex-wife's boyfriend. His pain was heartfelt. He hated seeing someone else fill his shoes as Ryan's father, but he was mature and considerate enough not to bad mouth the man to his son. I really admired him for that.

I gave Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Myers 3 STARS. Overall, it was a cute story, but it wasn't one of my favorites.

-XOXO

Review:

"Always a Bridesmaid" by Cindi Myers was nice well written good romance novel and I did thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Stephanie was a graduate student working for her father...she was a very determined independent and capable of not letting anyone or anything get in the way of her goals. Stephanie's mom had left her and her dad when she was only sixteen...Mike was head of his own construction firm....single parent with a son...nine year old Ryan.

Due to Stephanie's friend Justin...she meets Mike(landlord)....and she ends up renting a room from Mike. Justin was a friend of Mike and Stephanie and he was getting married ...Mike was the best man and Stephanie ended up also being in the wedding... as a bridesmaid. After a impromptu kiss...it was decided (Mike and Stephanie) would keep their distance...not wanting to get 'involved.' "They wouldn't fool around as long as they lived under the same roof." Now... Mike had been referred to as grim...has a son, ex-wife (with boyfriend.... and for Stephanie...there was her dad, his girlfriend and then their were the housemates.

Stephanie was looking for love and was afraid to move forward for fear of being hurt again...just like her father. For Mike who was a recently divorced dad and had turned sour when it came to any relationships due to the way he had been treated in his last marriage. Will Stephanie and Mike start a relationship and if so will this be kept a secret? Now, this is the time that I say you must pick up "Always a Bridesmaid" to find out if there will be a relationship between these two.

The characters were all interesting and even very believable referring to Stephanie, Mike, Justin, Ilisa, Judy, Kay,Ryan, Jack, Kaye, Grace, Todd, Madeline, Paul, Sandy, and Nicole.

"Always a Bridesmaid" was a quick read and if you are in for a sweet good read then I would recommend this one for you.

I always like a quick romance book that makes me feel like I was not the only one that was completely inept when it came to a romantic relationship. With Always a Bridesmaid it was Stephanie's emotional scars from her parents divorce and her own bad luck that had me connecting with her immediately.

Stephanie is gun shy about relationships, seeming to make the wrong choices in men and always falling hard for them and then falling apart when the relationships ended. So when she meets her new landlord, Mike Brubaker, she knew she was in trouble.

Mike, a recently divorced father, has been turned sour on relationships. He questions his ability to find the right person to spend his life with and decides focusing on his relationship with his nine year old son is for the best. But when he meets his new housemate, he discovers that his best laid plans have been smashed to bits by a woman.

As a reader, I connected with Stephanie immediately. She's been hurt in the few relationships she's had and by her mother who abandoned her for the shiny lights of Vegas. She searching for that one person who can love her for who she is, stubborn, independence streak and all. In Mike, she sees a kindred spirit, but also someone who could utterly crush her if she lets him get to close.

Mike can't explain why he's as attracted to Stephanie as he is, but he keeps reminding himself that he needs to focus on his son. But he makes excuses to reach out to Stephanie, to talk to her and finds that when he's not with her, he misses her. He needs her, but he also has to figure out how he can have both Stephanie and his son in his life.

This was a very sweet read. It went by fast, but it was the perfect way to spend an hour...losing yourself in the story of two people learning how to compromise to make a relationship work.

I always love a good, old-fashioned contemporary romance novel and this one fits the bill perfectly. Take who people who have some serious emotional baggage and bad luck with relationships, Stephanie and Mike, and a tempting situation (living together in the same house), an instant attraction (not the unbelievable kind, but the good, lusty kind) and you’ve got a fun read. I felt like Cindi had just the right amount of fun, light-hearted scenes and intense, serious ones. Nowadays, it’s hard not to meet someone doesn’t have some kind of baggage like a marriage that didn’t work out, kids, or trust issues, and Cindi plays on that well with her characters. But she also lets you believe in the power of love and keeps things sweet with the newlyweds and with hope that Stephanie and Mike can find love despite their pasts.

What’s a good romance novel without some nookie, am I right?! Cindi does a great job at writing those intimate scenes where it doesn’t get too tacky, but it remains quite steamy and HOT. You can definitely feel the attraction these two characters have for each other right from the start, and I like that it evolves from that into real love. Although much of it was pretty predictable, it didn’t deter me from reading on and enjoying the book. I liked Cindi’s writing style and her characters were great. The parts pertaining to actually being a bridesmaid, especially about the dresses, was hilarious and reminded me of how my friends felt when they had to be apart of my wedding (although I thought I chose cute dresses, lol).

It was a very short and fun read, something to throw in between reading those serious fantasy/paranormal reads, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

First I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Danielle @ Entangled for allowing me to read this book. For those of you who have not had a chance to check out Entangled's website here is the link http://www.entangledpublishing.com/

Always a Bridesmaid is a book that captures you right from the beginning. Stephanie is looking for love but can't seem to find it. Mike is a divorced father that has given up on love. Why love when it leads to heart ache and pain? So when Mike and Stephanie meet they don't know what hit them. Mike is fascinated with Stephanie while Stephanie is in awe of Mike.

The only thing is when you have been burnt from a relationship you learn to put up walls and set boundaries to ward people away from you so you don't get hurt. Can Mike and Stephanie stay away from one another? Or will they give in to their desires and mend each other's broken heart.

This book took me on such a ride that at times I was laughing and at times I was screaming at Mike and Stephanie. Mike is definitely a guy I would bring home. He is a dedicated father that has a lot of love to give to the right girl. Stephanie is such a great woman who has her head on straight. She is goal oriented and knows exactly what she wants. In the end they will have to make a decision and that decision is to love or not to love........

I heard this song by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson Don't You Wanna Stay and this song sums up Stephanie and Michael enjoy the video http://youtu.be/0c4ti6TKzt0

Always a bridesmade is a novel about love and the heartache and "prejudices" it causes

I found the novel very realistic in some parts.I'm sure divorsed parents all over the world worry what their child feels aboyt dating other people or if they are gonna be replaced by a new father or mother.Another thing is how a broken heart affects some people in their future relationships.

Stephenie has given up on love after 2 relationships that didn't worked outMaybe I'm a little exaggerating here.Mike is bitter after his divorse and thinks that there is a huge chance that any marriage won't work and the couple will broke up.Nice way to see a relationship BTWHe doesn't believe in love or wants it.When Stephenie and Mike meet there is something between them that they cannot ignore but they are doing their best to not to act on it.That's what they are doing for 110 or something like that pages.Later they do something about it but after that they have to face some problems. What Mike will do when he says to Rayn(his child)that he wants to start dating again and Ryan gets upset about it?Stephanie want more that just sex. Will Mike be able to give her that or their weird relationship will fall apart? What happens when Mikes ex-wife says that she wants them to become a couple again?

The book was good but I wanted an epilogue(I'm a sucker for them, what can I do?)or something like that to see what happens to our characters after an amount of time.Apart from that I don't have any complaints about the book

Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Myers was a super cute, fast romance that I did really enjoy. The plot wasn't my favorite thing, but I just loved what each character brought to the story.
The book didn't feel complete to me. I guess right off the bat I was thinking of a little different of a story. With the title Always a Bridesmaid, I was thinking the story would focus more around her friend's wedding, but that was actually a smaller part of the book. There was a bit of romance, but the majority of the story was the buildup to romance. Then, the book ended right when things I thought were finally getting to a little more of a romancey type plot. Those things aside, the way the story actually did go with cute. There were so many great moments. I loved the whole side story of Mike trying to be the best father he can to Ryan - it was really touching.

I loved the characters - they all were super wonderful. Ryan was so adorable. Ilsa was a complete riot and made my laugh all the time. Mike and Stephanie were so much alike and their story was a ton of fun to read about. The characters were definitely my favorite part about the book.

Always a Bridesmaid is the perfect romance if you want a fast read on the shorter end. I read it in just a couple hours, and the entire time I was reading, I really didn't want to put it down at all.

Stephanie Ludlow is done with relationships. She has been hurt before and doesn't want to try again. She is happy with her life. She is back in school trying to get a degree. She works for her dad's company and has good friends. But when her landlord calls her and tells her she has to pack and move she is in shock. Thankfully, her coworker and friend tells her she can move into the house he is renting.
Stephanie decides to check the house. She was not expecting to meet her future landlord without a shirt and looking sexy.
Mike Brubaker is an architect. He created the perfect home for his bride. Too bad the bride left him and now he only sees his little boy on the weekends. He swore off relationships. So how come he can't stay away from Stepahnie.
Cute little book. My only complaint would be a rushed ending.

This was a really good book. Mike was against relationships since his divorce and he wanted to focus on his son. Stephanie thought she found love, but instead got dumped. Stephanie's co-worker Justin asks her to be a bridesmaid for his fiancee and she reluctantly says yes. Stephanie is also told she has to move right away and Justin says that there is an open room where he lives, which happens to be Mike's house. Stephanie and Mike try to deny their chemistry. Mike finally decides he needs to move on with his life and Stephanie also decides that she needs to take a risk with Mike. These two were interesting to watch and it took them a little while for them to finally figure out what was really important to them.

I was looking for a fun, loving quick read and this filled the bill nicely. The typical story of two people refusing to be in a relationship and bam find one another and fall in love but I still liked it.
It warmed my heart. For Mike and Stephanie love will always sneak up on you when you least expect it.

There were some great supporting characters in this book which helped make the story. It was a cute read. I really liked the ending of the book

I am torn between 3 and 4 thumbs up but hey since it is the end of summer lets give it 4.

The book was surprisingly good. You felt for both Mike and Stephanie as characters. The chemistry was there from the beginning though both fought it. Mike is a divorced single father and is afraid to get attached to someone again only to loss them. Stephanie is afraid to fully give her heart because of abandonment issues. They are not perfect but they work and the book was good even though it needed an epilogue.

Sweet & fun read, yet full of sadness & pain. About 2 persons once burned by love and are now shy of any future commitment.
Stephanie is wary of relationships after being dumped first by her mom, then 2 boyfriends.
Mike is a divorced father, trying to get to term with his divorce and his ex- wife betrayal. His bitterness & cynisism are just a shield to hide his pain. Very realistic in handling divorce issues, especially when there is a kid involved,

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun and flirty with likeable characters that felt like people you would know. I don't usually like romance wih children in them but the relationship between Mike and his son was lovely.

Sweet story. Steph and Mike are both cynical about relationship. Ryan is such a cute boy, I wish that there were an epilogue because I'd like to see what happend with the house and the housemates that they shared. How will mike's ex respond?
