SUMMARY (50 words or less)
I loved every second of this book. Did I already say that? If I did, I’ll say it again. Well, you know. If you haven’t read this series it is a must. IT’s not REALLY YA. More NA with a teenager to begin with who grows into a New Adult

I had been looking forward to this book for a long time – ever since reading Ink last year. The story picks up a few months after Ink left off, a school year to be exact. Hope returns from college for the summer with high expectations, only to have them quickly demolished. Trying to figure out what is happening between her and Slade and her and her best friend Karsen, who both seem to have better things to do than spend time with her, Hope turns to someone new who seems to have no trouble making time for her.

There was a lot going on in this story, and Hope had to do some soul searching to figure out what was best for her. I loved Slade in Ink, but he was so remote in this book I went back and forth with loving him and hating him. He had his reasons, of course, but his character was very frustrating. And throughout the story I wasn't sure how I was supposed to be feeling about the new guy, Hutch. He seemed almost too good to be true, so I really did not trust him.

I love this series and am looking forward to the next book to find out what happens with my favorite characters.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book picks up about a year after the end of Ink. Hope has been at college over the past school year. She has been talking to Slade nightly on the phone during that time, however, she hasn't seen him since the past summer. Hope arrives home to find that her relationship with Slade isn't quite as solid as she hoped it was. There are a lot of complexities, and it feels like there is a lot Slade isn't telling her. She embraces the fact that she is a witch, but definitely does not want to go down the same dark path as others. Enter Audrey- who is another daughter of the witches who head up the coven and saved the life of Slade and his family. Audrey is not pleasant in any way, and obviously wants Slade. Hope hates her and all the dark magic she represents, and is definitely pissed that Audrey is after her boyfriend in addition to boss her around. As she struggles to determine whether she and Slade have anything left in their relationship to salvage (aside from their continually hot physical connection), Hope meets Hutch, who is a very hot stranger who seems to be able to offer her everything she isn't getting from Slade. Hope feels very alone, and has powers now that she doesn't really understand.

I really struggled through this one in terms of deciding what I wanted for Hope and who I thought she should trust. I wavered between thinking that she should trust Slade, and feeling like he needed to open the hell up and stop being so stoic and secretive. I didn't trust Hutch at first, but as time went on he really did seem like a viable alternative for Hope in terms of guidance in her new life and a potential hot romantic interest that would treat her the way she deserves.

It was hard to witness the disconnection Hope was experiencing between herself and nearly everyone else. Her friendship with Karsen was strained, as well as her relationship with her father. The author does a good job of helping the reader feel along with Hope, throughout the story even though there are a lot of uncomfortable and confusing emotions being experienced.

There is a pretty solid level of angst here, and I liked watching Hope step up and speak out when she needed to and not lose herself in situations where she is pressured to do or be something she she doesn't want. I admire her strength as she fights to stay true to herself despite a lot of adversity. There are some pretty intense situations that come about towards the end of this book, and some definite lines drawn in the sand when it comes to some of the towns people and the outsiders. Hope has some danger coming at her from a few different angles now, and I'm really nervous and excited to see what happens in the next book. I'm still struggling with whether I'm team Slade or team Hutch, but I'll reserve judgement until I know more (and hopefully so will Hope). I'm really looking forward to reading the 3rd book in the series!

Holy tricking cow!

What a book....this is truly captivating. Every part of the book takes a hold of you and you can't seem to get enough, well I know I can't anyway.

Soo much love for Hutch in this book but I'm still rooting for Slade.

Looking forward to the next book......

The storyline of this series is very intriguing... But some of the characters are killing it for me. This book pissed me off but for some odd reason I couldn't stop reading! I can't stand desperate/whiney woman in books. And Hope, is so frickin' pathetic! My goodness. When Slade is ignoring her she goes to next guy (Hutch) but as soon as Slade comes back around, it's "ALL ABOUT SLADE!l" Hell No, you make that asshole suffer! She was just so quick to give up her p*ssy to him! Smh. Slade was a complete douche-bag to Hope in this one. And the scene at the Carnival (I would have got off that ferris wheel and gutted him) just saying! I really loved Hutch! I wanted to know more about him.
And with everyone having these bad ass powers - why hasn't anyone just taken out Tucker and his father yet???

**There was lots of errors, pages missing, spelling errors, etc. Usually that don't bother me, but it was pretty bad.

And so the story continue

I didn't like this book as much as the first. There were a lot of ups and downs that didn't make sense with the flow of the story. I felt that the first book really takes you there, you are part of the story and can almost see all the chaos and love occur, but this time it just seems so incomplete. But alas I read on...

Review for Twisted Magic (Ink #2) by Holly Hood

If you only knew. When Karsen left, and my life took a turn for the fatal I never told her what happened that night. Nobody besides Slade, and his family knew what actually happened. And I wanted to keep it that way. I didn’t want Karsen scared of me or anything, for that matter. So the secret of who I was would stay just that- a secret.
Back in Cherry for the summer, Hope is now on break from ASU. She hasn’t seen Slade at all since she left Cherry and she misses him like crazy. Hope can’t wait to see him again but when she goes to find him, she learns that he is in jail and all charges against Tucker have been dropped.
After a blissful but short reunion with Slade, Audrey forces her way into Hope’s life. Hope, now a witch and a member of a dark circle quickly learns that this group is hell bent on destruction, destruction she wants no part of. She is torn with evil lurking all around her she struggles with wanting to be with Slade but trying to remain Hope. It all becomes too much for her to handle.
“She gets your rules, Audrey. So get out of here and leave her alone,”
Learning rules and trying to control he powers Hope feels hopeless. She isn’t sure where her relationship is headed with Slade or if they are even in a relationship. It doesn’t help that her best friend Karsen and Kidd have the relationship she longs to have with Slade. Even though Slade has warned her off, Audrey continues to be a torn in her side. When things get even worse between her and Slade and a mysterious and handsome stranger buy the name of Hutch arrives. Hope can’t deny the attraction she feels towards him. He is so opposite of Slade and he seems to do and say the right things. Confused, Hope starts to question everything she knows and feels for Slade.
“Just like the night the coven changed all of you. I don’t need to be saved. All I need is for you to be honest and tell me what you want.”
Slade whirled around in an instant. He grabbed me by the shoulders; his finger’s digging into my flesh. His lips close to mine, but his eyes were frantic almost. “I’ll always want you,” he said.

When things start getting out of control and the town slowly starts to turn on them. Hope ends up battling everything in her life, her coven, her family, her friends. She has to decide if she can stay true to the girl she has always been or risk it all for the love of her life.

Holly Hood knows how to write a frustrating character in Slade. One minute you absolutely love him and the next minute you are cursing his name.
I have to say that Hope annoyed me a little bit. I felt she became more immature. I did feel sorry for her. So much to deal with and no time to deal with it. Then throw another hot guy who seems almost too willing to help her into the mix and you have yourself a bowl of confusion.
I enjoyed the twists and turns this book had to offer and of course it leaves you hanging and needing more.
A fantastic continuation of Hope and Slades’ story. I can’t wait to see what happens in book #3!

Review also posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

I read the first book last year when Holly Hood contacted me to read and review it. I fell head over heels in love with Slade. (noticed a trend yet with me I always fall for the bad boys) I was anxiously waiting for the sequel to the first book. When Holly told me, I would get another book with Slade…I squealed with delight. =)This book thought made me go through an emotional roller coaster. I was upset with how Slade was acting in the whole book to Hope. What a JERK!!! And I fell in love with a new character, Hutch, who I cannot wait to learn more about in the series.

I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love reading about witches, and readers who do not mind getting mad at individual characters. I warned you… remember that. =)

Slade, you play with that lip ring, and I am putty. But then you go and get all asshattery, even borderline douchecanoe territory. No bueno. Not at all. Stop it!

I think book #1, Ink, will hold a special place in my heart. Just thinking of the 'tents' Ink created... but while this book had scorching hot moments, I didn't want to erect as many tents. (To fully understand my metaphor... please see my review of book #1.)

And Hope. *Sigh* What are we going to do with you, Hope? I keep doing a 180... "Yeah girl, you tell him!" to "Oh no she didn't! It's on like Donkey Kong."

More to come, but overall a solid 4♥ read, and I definitely will be continuing the series. Come here Slade, I'll comfort you... among other things.

More to come.

OMG.
This book made me furious, made my stomach hurt, made me want to kiss Hutch, and punch Slade in the face.
All I know is a bad boy is one thing, but Slade was a total JERK in this book and I almost hate him.
Totally not what I was expecting, but very good.
And what a cliff hanger ending... I need to know more about Hutch and I have to see how everything pans out.
I need Ink #3 NOW.

I'm hooked!

I got the first book for free and thought it was good enough that I had to read the next in the series. Now I have to see where this is going to take Hope, Slade and the rest of the gang.

Another brilliant instalment in the Ink series. Hope finds herself in a very different state of mind after the end of the last book. Not sure how to handle what she has become, Hope struggles with everyone.
