Oh what a fabulous story! Love those strong Scottish lads from the Highlands!
This historical has love, sensuality, intrigue and clan devotion.
Ian has been in love with Selena since he was 18 years old. She feels the same about him but she is the Englishman's daughter and her father is the man who took their land.
Ian devises a plan to make Selina his wife and despite their original objections his clan come to love and respect her.
Selina is a strong, feisty heroine and Ian a strong, sexy Gaelic man.
But there is a traitor in their midst. Will he be discovered before any real damage is done?
A long but fabulous read!

The backstory is that highborn Selina spent summers in Scotland. At sixteen she fell in love with Ian, the highlander. Now she's back and going to marry dull Dunstan because no one can win her heart like forbidden Ian. When she discovers officer Dunstan is going to foil a smuggling operation, Selina rushes from her bed at night to warn Ian. She ends up unable to return and flees with Ian...I'll leave the rest to the readers.
Though I did catch a couple of minor colloquialisms, Lethbridge does a wonderful job of building sexual tension, and her love scenes are sweepingly sensual. A definite read for Harlequin historical buffs.

3 stars - Adult Historical Romance / Scotland, 1818
It was a good read. Except the main characters were infuriating at most times. The book has a bit of cliffy itself and so that means I have to keep tabs on the series.

It is a good story. The Laird, Ian is incredibly stubborn, which becomes annoying.

Reunion romance, in which the hero is Scottish and the heroine is English. They knew each other as teens, and liked each other then, but family drove them apart. He's involved in smuggling and when she goes out to warn him about government guys coming, they have to hide out, then run away. The Scottish law about marriage comes into play and creates more complications. It's a nice story with the laws about whiskey making and marriage making up the background of the story. I liked it.

I do not give usually 4 stars, but the story line was very good written,fabulous story. I could not put the book down.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a good moving plot and plenty of adventure. I liked the background of smuggling in Scotland and the historical aspect of illegal whiskey distilling was interesting.

I usually rate most books 3 stars but I loved n enjoyed this somewhat sentimental story. I give it 4 stars for the tears I shed over this misunderstood couple :-)

Ian and Selina have known each other since their younger days. They first kissed when they were teenagers, and then he and his brothers made fun of her. Later, when they are older, and Selina has suffered an injury that has maimed her leg, she helps Ian to escape from a smuggling situation. They are forced to wed so that they can find a place to sleep in one of his clansman's houses. Selina is in constant turmoil because even though she's attracted to Ian, she doesn't like the thought that he has used her to suit his purposes.

I really like this story and both lead characters and how they came to be married. Ian and Selina had chemistry and the story moved along at a smooth, forward space.
I like this writer’s writing style and will seek out more books from her. I also didn’t notice any errors that needed more proofreading.

I really like this book it is the second time I have read it. It is a good plot and gives you a good idea of the border conflict and that of whisky making in Scotland versus the law.

An unusual setting with a complicated story but good characters. I usually love her work, but for me something went amiss in this one.
