The ancient wolves were once proud guardians of time. Now they are enslaved in the underworld, mere extensions of Lucifer’s will. Lawson's pack managed to escape this fate by fleeing aboveground. But when the hounds capture the girl Lawson loves, he will risk everything — including his own brothers’ freedom — to win her back. Meanwhile, Bliss Llewellyn is adjusting to humanity after giving up her immortal vampire life. When her Aunt Jane is kidnapped by the Hounds of Hell, Bliss vows to do whatever it takes to save her — even if it means joining forces with the dangerously good-looking boy with a wolf's soul and a too-intimate knowledge of Jane's captors.

It has been a really long time since I have read the original series but I remember being curious about where Bliss was at the time. I really liked this and will definitely continue the short stories when I have time. Might also inspire me to actually finish the first series as well.
Short and had no real point that fact that I have to read some side story before I can finish the Blue Blood series is ridiculous. Melissa de la Cruz is dragging this storyline to the point where I just hate it. This is not good writing or story telling at all.
So part 1 is not long ( under 100 pages) I decided to try part 1 without diving into the full 4 part book which is not how the book is given out. I am stuck in describing how I feel about this.. this is the first actual book I have read from the author. And I read this is actually a follow on story.. so possible that would have assisted me in understanding this book. For me I feel it will eventually be a story but what I got was like a day in the life of these hellhounds who escaped. At this point I am unsure if I will continue this book and I may have to read blue bloods first. I did get quite the giggles that this is essentially about the hellhounds and a girl named Bliss.
Quick companion read to the main series of Blue Bloods, helps to add more depth to characters and adding characters so that they don't come out of left field when they come into the main series.
I loved the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz when it first came out. Eventually there got to be so many books and so many other novels demanding my attention that I got behind on the series. I fully intend to catch up one day (I have read through book 5), but I couldn't resist this novel when I heard about it. It's a companion novel to the Blue Bloods series that focuses on werewolves. In an intriguing move, the publisher decided to release this one in segments as an eBook. I was lucky enough to be granted early access to the first segment and I devoured it in one delicious sitting and I'm thirsting for more. Part two will make it's debut on October 23 and you better believe that I will be downloading it ASAP.
What I really love about this tiny little morsel is that it shed light on the hell-hounds who have been mentioned in Blue Bloods books. It was interesting to finally get more of their story and I have to admit that I might have developed a tiny crush on Lawson. I love how loyal he is to his pack and his intense emotions. I certainly would love to see more of him in future books.
In addition to learning more lore about the hell-hounds and their connection to the Blue Bloods, I also loved getting to spend more time with Bliss. She is by far one of my favorite characters from the original series. More of her history and purpose come to light in this small addition; information from these Wolf Pact segments will certainly be invaluable to readers as they prepare themselves for the final installment in the Blue Bloods series, Gates of Paradise, hits the shelves on January 15. I know that Bliss and the hell-hounds have a crucial role to play and its been fun for me to see what is going on behind the Blue Bloods scenes.
In addition to all the Blue Bloods connections, I also loved that there is a connection to the Beauchamp witches. I love the characters from that series as well. It is fascinating for me to watch as Melissa de la Cruz weaves all of these intriguing groups together in one large paranormal tapestry. Her writing is strong and I have always loved how she uses history to enhance her creativity. I can only hope that she may write an entire series devoted to the hell-hounds at some point.
One Last Gripe: This was so short! I know it's because they are releasing the story in segments, but I'm ready for Part II now!
My Favorite Thing About This Book: I love Bliss and her connection to the hell-hounds
First Sentence: His earliest memory was of the collar around his neck.
I think I might have mistakenly picked this book up. At first, I thought it was just a new series by de la Cruz, about werewolves. And that's what I expected I was getting myself into when I started reading it.
And then it got confusing.
It took me a while to figure out that it was actually just a continuation of the Blue Bloods books. It didn't help me any that I haven't read all of that series. I was able to get through only because I had a vague recollection of the story from the first three Blue Bloods books. Maybe it's because of that that the story seemed way too fast-paced. One scene jumped to another, with barely any explanation as to what was going on.
Okay, so they're werewolves. And the werewolves are slaves to Lucifer. But they don't want to be, so they escape. And there's some sort of myth about Fenrir saving all the wolves. And wolves are different than Hell Hounds, because Hell Hounds are mind-controlled by Romelus, the Original werewolf. And Bliss, the main character from Blue Bloods, has to find them to stop this war that's going to happen because of something that happened in the Blue Bloods books.
I...kind of understood what was going on? The whole idea was pretty interesting. But I just couldn't follow it. Characters were sort of introduced, and then killed, and never explained. There was almost no character development. Bliss had the most developed story, but that's because she already had an entire series written to set her up.
I know I was supposed to feel sad when that one old wolf died, but I can't even remember his name. He was barely there, never developed as a character, and then killed. There's no time to develop any sort of emotional connection with him. Yet he's given a death-speech scene that's clearly supposed to elicit some sort of response. The only one I could muster was, "Oh yeah. He's a character."
And Lawson... but it's never explained how he could possibly have that power until the very end. There's no foreshadowing about it at all. It's not even an interesting twist, because it's never even hinted at that it could be a twist.
I'd very much recommend reading the Blue Bloods books before picking this one up. Otherwise, you're just going to be expected to know everything that's already happened, and be confused by everything that's left unexplained.
Lawson and his brothers are wolves, almost old enough to become a Hell Hound and work under the control of Lucifer and the Silver Bloods forever. But Lawson and his brothers don't want to become hounds, they want to be free to have their own loves, for they know once they become hounds they would lose themselves forever. Lawson has hope that they will succeed, except something goes wrong in their escape. While Lawson, Edon, Tala, Ahramin, Mac, and Rafe were about to escape from Hell Tala lagged behind. Trying to save her Ahramin pushed her forward and got caught herself, and din't make it to the portal
Now in the human world they live in parks, and get food from garbage's. They move around a lot, afraid of their surrounding they try and stick together. Finally Lawson and the others get some help from a wizard Arthur who helps them and takes them into his home to help them learn how to fit in with society.
After leaving Arthur's they head out on their own. Tala and Lawson becoming closer and closer. They begin to see each other in secret. Everything seems to be going fine. They have a home, clothes, food, jobs, and each other. That's when danger comes and finds them. While they've always been careful of not staying in one place they were finally caught. A familiar face finds them and burns their house to the ground. When Tala gets captured all Lawson can do is think about getting her back, no matter the cost.
Meanwhile Bliss is still on her mission with her Aunt Jane to find the hounds and bring them back into the fold, just as Gabrielle her mother had told her. Following every lead they can including the burning house Bliss finds what she thinks to be a lead, instead it might be more danger than she can handle.
Loved this novel. So exciting to read more about Bliss and extra exciting to read about the wolves and what all is going on in Hell. It was amazing all the powers that Bliss still possesses, and how Hell keeps drawing her in. Could not put this short story down!
WOLF PACT is a serial novel by Melissa de la Cruz exploring the wolves of the Blue Bloods' world and their relationship to Bliss Llewellyn. The fourth and final part comes out next week on December 4th. I am only reviewing the first part, which may seem a touch pricey at sixty-ish pages for $1.99. But in the end that's a whole book for $7.96, which is below market price. Plus, I think serials are fun and I'm happy major publishers are playing around with the model.
WOLF PACT begins in Hell, where Lawson and his pack escape from their masters before they can be turned into hellhounds. But their escape comes at a price, and they are pursued by the hounds because they can still be converted as long as they're recaptured before they turn seventeen. Meanwhile, Bliss and her Aunt Jane search for the wolves in order to ally with them to fight the Silver Bloods.
While WOLF PACT deals with a society that's not explored in the main Blue Bloods continuity, it's not really friendly to new readers. Since Lawson and the pack are new to Earth, they are briefly caught up on the various factions. But de la Cruz's world is too involved to be explained so quickly. I can't be sure since I've read the Blue Bloods novels, but I suspect WOLF PACT will appeal more to fans than newbies.
Now, the Blue Bloods series is one that I once loved, but I've been disappointed by later installments. I think WOLF PACT gets back to what made the first books more appealing. There's action, a sense of fate, and what seems to be the set up for a neatly woven plot. I'm intrigued enough to read Part Two.
Wolf Pact Part One is very hard to describe because it was a short read with a bit of an abrupt ending. That was to be expected but I was so caught up in the story I wasn't expecting it to end the way it did.
It's a nice beginning and gives the reader some good setup and background information on all the characters. The premise is fantastic and the book does a great job at keeping a good pace and also getting the reader into the story. There's not much development of anything besides background and the story being set so there's not much I can say except that I'm a little bit worried that the characters won't be properly developed. I barely got to know the pack in this installment and now they're gone.
Even though it's less than 60 pages of writing, a lot is in those pages and I found it very entertaining. My only complaint is that I wish I could read more.
I'd say that if you're a fan of Blue Bloods you should keep an eye on Wolf Pact. So far, I'd recommend waiting until all four parts are out and then by the book because Part 1 felt a bit like a teaser. Once I was truly getting acclimated to the story it ended. Also, remember that Wolf Pact is only available online. This book is very different compared to what I usually read, especially considering length, so I don't think it warrants a rating just yet.
This second spin off from Melissa De La Cruz’s Blue Blood series is action packed and is an original take on good versus evil or angels versus hellbeings.
I haven’t read Blue Bloods but I have read the spinoffs. Witches of East End and this start to another great series Wolf Pact. I love the use of lore and magic. Something about the writing just grabs me and takes me to there mythological world, wishing it were real. The characters are so vivid in my mind.
On the down side I feel there is a little bit of the Blue Blood story that I have missed out on because I haven’t read but that doesn’t make this unlikable or hard to understand. Just makes me want to read more.
It very fast paced and I am glad for some new characters. I fell in love with Melissa's storytelling in the Blue Blood series, especially how vampires are descended from angels! Now she explains where werewolves come from! We get a new cast of characters and Bliss is also in this book.
I don't why Hyperion decided to cut it into four parts, but I am going to keep on reading.
It was refreshing to still be in the world of Blue Bloods, but dealing with humans and Hellhounds. What I really loved about Part 1 was the introduction of Lawson and the pack. The first five chapters are told by Lawson and Bliss narrates the last five.
If you plan on reading this, I suggest getting all four parts. Part 1 ends abruptly.
Weird! I haven't read anything from Melissa since Lost and Time! And it was AMAZING! But reading something new and new characters is a bumppy road. But until you get the hang of it it gets better and interesting.
This is just the first part of four and it has me interested. It has been a while since I read any Blueblood books, but things slowly came back to me. I like the story so far.
I'm really glad that we get to read about Bliss and the hellhounds Sad that its an ebook though but either way I love to read about the Blue Bloods world
I can't believe this series is coming to a close! I ejoyed reading Bliss' story if not to complete the puzzle of this great story! I'm off to read 'Gates of Parsdise' now.
I LOVE THE BLUE BLOODS SERIES, AND I JUST STARTED THIS BOOK SO I COULD UNDERSTAND THE LAST AND FINAL BOOK OF THE SERIES, NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD LOVE THE CHARACTHERS...
