5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fun witty story! My first book by this author, and I will definitely be looking for her other books.

I would say it can be read without having read book #1. I didn’t feel lost at all, the characters from the first book were introduced towards the end of this book and it wasn’t confusing.

I found this book recommended on a GR list of Best Steamy Western Romances. Compared to the typical squeaky clean religious westerns, it was steamy. But overall, I would say it was only mildly steamy with one make out scene and one sex scene. The strength of the story though was the witty, fun bickering back and forth btw the hero and heroine. The heroine was feminine, yet a tough cookie. The hero was a bad-ass, yet caring and patient.

There were a few “hmmmm, ok……” moments. I don’t know what happened with the gang bank robbers and Colt (that THEY were chasing him). It should have been the other way around, so it left me thinking Colt was inept at his job. Secondly, while the gang of 8 bank robbers were right on the hero/heroine’s tail, chasing them thru the wild, Colt decides it would be nice to stop at a stream to cool off, wash their faces and skinny dip. With no worry of the thugs finding them. So that wasn’t the smartest move on the hero’s part. 🥴

But other than that, it was an enjoyable story to jump into. 🤠

Spoiler Ahead This was book two in the "Willow Creek" series. Sarah Hartford has always dreamed of going on a grand adventure but she never thought that she would be kidnapped by an outlaw who robbed her father's bank now she must survive. Colton Avery spent months planning the bank robbery and now he has to deal with a woman Sarah who pulls a gun on him and shot at him and he wanted her. Robbing the bank, and handing over the gang of notorious outlaws to US Marshals, would be routine and boring. Sarah Hartford made it anything but. Taming the woman who stole his heart the instant he saw her was a challenge he was more than willing to take on. All he has to do now is escape the gang of outlaws he just double-crossed, hideout from an Indian raiding party and elude the town marshal who just happens to be his little new fiancé. This was a good book it was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I needed a change from all of the dark romance reads that I've been doing lately, so thought Historical was the way to go. And instead of a Regency era read, went with American Western. Gunslingers used to be all that I read back in the day, so it's possible that my love for this book was triggered by that nostalgic feeling. And I love a hostage read too, so this was a winner. The story was great, and had more spice than I was expecting for a historical. I am excited about the side characters, and will be looking up the rest of the series.

I bought and loved The Lawman (Willow Creek series #1) by Lily Graison. Too my surprise, I was beyond excited when asked if I would like to review the rest of The Willow Creek Series. Lily sweetie you made my day! After reading The Lawman which was my first read by Lily Graison, I fell in love with her writing voice and she has become one on my favorite new authors.

While I was reading The Outlaw I kept thinking to myself why is Sarah the Heroine even thinking about naughty things about Colt when he is a leader of bad guys robbing her Daddy’s bank. Well he has a little secret and had everything planned out with his bank heist until a feisty and stubborn Sarah decides to stop him with a shotgun.

The Outlaw starts off with a bang and never lets up. Sarah is a strong will woman who will do what ever it takes to stop the bank robbers even pull out a shotgun, shoot and not meaning to miss Colt the leader. Colt fell head over heals with Sarah from their first meeting with her trying to shoot him. Oh my the back and forth with Colt and Sarah right from the beginning had me smiling and giggling. And it just gets better and better through out the novel. I loved how he would call her sweetheart and it annoyed the heck out of her. Colt, baby you can call be sweetheart any day.

Colt is arrogant and does get what he always wants. He makes it very clear he wants Sarah. But Sarah does not make it easy for him. His twin brother Holden’s wife died and left him with his daughter. He saw how heartbroken Holden was after his wife’s death and never wants to go through with that. So he is perfectly fine with bedding woman. That is until he meets Sarah. She has him thinking of things he never would of thought, like her being his wife and pregnant with his child.

Their chemistry is hot right from the start. Oh my goodness the sexual tension is out of this world. I loved the lake and the barn scene with the haystack. Four words Sarah say’s “Oh my sweet heavens” Yes that about sums it up for the barn scene.

Colt’s father James has been sick for some time, does not talk much and doctors do not know what is wrong with him. My heart was sad while Colt was talking to his dad about his trip. He was going on and on like he is having a normal conversation but it is a one way conversation. Through out the book you see the feisty side of Sarah until towards the end then you start seeing a sweet and loving side especially with James.

I enjoy reading when the Avery brothers are together. They all have their own voice. Holden has definitely caught my attention and look forward to his story. But will have to wait because Tristan is next. Do not know what Tristan is like, but if he is an Avery then he has got to be a yummy hero as all the Avery brothers are turning out to be. I was extremely happy that I got to see more of Morgan and Abigail. I love how Lily Graison heroes in the Willow Creek series all have sexy names Morgan, Colt, Holden and Tristan.

Thank you Lily Graison for giving me the opportunity to read and the boost I needed to up The Willow Creek series on my TBR List. I love the world you built in the western times that I could not resist and had to buy Tempt Me Not (Wicked Series #1) to see how you do in contemporary romance.

The Outlaw can be stand alone but highly recommend just reading the series from the beginning with The Lawman. You will enjoy and appreciate Morgan, Abigail and Holden more. If you are like me and loved reading The Lawman what are you waiting for The Outlaw is just as good. My only down fall was that this is one of those books you will want to devour all in a few days, but for me, I have been working out, just so tired I was only able to read a little at a time.

Colton Avery is a US marshal who gets in with outlaws and then turns them over to the marshals. This time, they are robbing a bank when he is almost shot. Sarah Hartford’s father owns the bank and she is tired of it being robbed. Colt pulls down his bandana and grins at her. Sarah follows them out of the bank and fires another shot, knocking Colt’s hat off. He told her “Missed again” and then she is snatched up by one of the outlaws and taken to their hideout. Colt comes and saves her from the others. Outlaws are after them, then Indians. Then her former fiancé comes after her. Sarah wants Colt and he comes to save her again.

When he pulled down his bandana, Sarah felt her heart give a flutter. She had never felt that with William Brighton, her almost-fiance. She knows that he wants her father's money more than her and that is why she never agreed to marry him. She goes with Colt and wants him. Sarah knows if she doesn't have him now, she will always regret it. At Avery Ranch, she goes to him in the hayloft but he kids her and tells her it's a midmorning romp. She thinks he doesn't care about her and leaves the ranch.

When the hotel catches fire and Colt knows Sarah is in there, he is frantic. He runs into the burning building to find her. He loves her even though he hates to admit it. He gets her to safety. William comes and grabs her and takes her back to her home but she doesn't want to go with him. She wants Colt. Indians come and Colt rides up beside her, grabbing her off her horse and onto his. He tells her he loves her and will never let her go.

Did he set up the Indians to come after them so he could save her? He tells her he's an outlaw and that's what they do.

He takes her to the ranch and shows her where he would like to build their house. He looks at her and says "Marry me Sarah". She says yes.

He had lived a life impersonating an outlaw to set them up to be arrested by the marshals but felt something was lacking in his life. With Sarah, he felt complete.

Lets me start off by saying I love the name Colt. It's so damn sexy it makes me swoon just imaging it being whispered by a lover.

So Colton Avery had a big thumbs up from me before I even started to read. Then add in his bad boy persona, the heart of gold, his cocky smile and protective streak and I was all over this hunky hottie.

The Outlaw is very similar in feel to the first book in the series - The Lawman. It had a nice relaxing pace and was an easy, enjoyable read. So if you enjoyed the first book in the series, this is definitely another book you should pick up.

Although the Willow Creek series isn't as hot as Lily's other books, it was scorching in the seduction rating. I loved the push and pull, the desire, the flirting, the belly churning emotion. I will be honest in saying that I prefer Lily's hotter reads a bit more though - I'm a naughty girl ;) And Lily writes damn good sex scenes.

Sarah is also a great character, strong willed, not a mild wilting flower like some tight laced heroines in historicals. She definitely deserved Colt and gave him a run for his money too, making him work hard to get what he wanted.

All in all, another great read from Lily Graison.

The Outlaw takes you back to the Wild West with all the action, violence, outlaws and guns blazing that will hold you spellbound and your heart will race, wondering what will happen next. Lily Graison has outdone herself with this novel that is well-written, filled it with a magnificent cast of characters, a strong plot with great dialogue bring this read together perfectly! So many emotions that whirl through you as you read about Colt and Sarah's journey to admitting their love for one another. With double-crossed bandits hot on Colt and Sarah's trail and an Indian raiding party Colt will do anything to protect the woman he loves even kidnap her a second time. They soon find their attraction building for one another in this heart pounding story full of drama, hot passion, turmoil, trials and tribulations, shootouts and while the suspense builds, tensions escalate and all twist and turns abound that makes for one outstanding story! Can't wait to read The Gambler!

I bought this immediately after reading the previous WillowCreek book, THE LAWMAN, which I very much enjoyed. THE OUTLAW is a wonderful sequel, not only bringing readers up to date with the lovable characters from THE LAWMAN, but iving us a whole new adventure, filled with action and romance.

I very much enjoyed the story, especially the way in which the two main characters, Sarah and Colt, discover their strongest, best, and most tender selves in their relationship with each other. There is action, humor, suspense, and a lot of heat between the two lovers.

Hot gun slinger saves feisty banker and can't let her go

we take a cross country, pursued by bad guys, fiancees and indians trip with Colt and Sara. Sara and Colt don't give in to the attraction they have until Sara is ready. Misunderstandings galore cause a lot of unnecessary heartbreak, but the romance is tingling and perfect throughout the story

Having read all 4 stories for the brothers, this is the one with the most emotion, probably due to Sara's virginity more than anything. No quick romp for these two, Colt has to win his lady over with drugging kisses and tender words!

The Outlaw

I was surprised when I read the 1st book in this series at the interesting aspects of the story. Now with this book I find that I'm just as interested in the characters and the way Ms Grayson has written it. Very amusing and an intriguing journey thru the old West with ladies who are ladies but don't always fit the term, with men who are men and don't think they know everything about women. They gave the fact that they may lose the person they loved it they don't step in the right direction. Definitely would recommend this to those who are just getting interested in this genre.

It's attraction at first sight when outlaw Colton Avery, with his gang, robs and bank and bank teller Sarah Hartford, shoots a gun at him. When the gang kidnaps Sarah, Colton rescues her from the group, but at some point, the rescue becomes more like an adventure in love. Is Colton really a bad boy out for himself or is there something more?

The author, Lily Graison, has written another tightly woven book, with high sexual tension, danger, and romance. Sexual scenes are mildly explicit. The tale is gripping from the first page to the last.

Sarah and Colt

This was another good read in the series, though I have to admit I was getting a bit tired of Colt and Sarah not communicating their wants. I loved how feisty Sarah was and Colt definitely was arrogant. I do wish we had gotten to see them settled but other than that- I’m happy with how the story ended.

Humor, action, sex. All mixed into a rousing western adventure.
The Overview is a Spoiler. Gives too much away.
The shotgun used by Sarah, shot like a rifle. She would not have missed him with buckshot spray.

"Ya All" Remember the review I did on the Lawman by Lily Graison right? Ok quick go to http://tinyurl.com/7tdc3tv and read it.... leave a catchy comment and come back I will wait......

Waiting ....waiting....waiting....

In the Lawman Morgan has a VERY HUNKY brother named Holden, you all remember him, the super hot, sexy widower with a daughter? Yeah that's the guy. OK......now close your eyes and picture this......Holden times 2! That's right! Colton is Holden's identical twin brother and MAN IS HE HOT!

I love the way Lily puts the reader right into the feel of the old west using verbiage that may have been used by people back then. And let me tell you, you have got to love an author that uses the Phrase "in cahoots"!!

Here is the promotional description of the book:

Genre: Historical western romance Title: The Outlaw
Author: Lily Graison Series: Willow Creek

Sarah Hartford always dreamed of a grand adventure. She just never expected to find it in the arms of an outlaw.

When her father's bank is robbed, Sarah doesn't make the gunslingers' escape easy. Putting her own safety behind those she hopes to protect backfires when she's kidnapped by one of the escaping men. Now her only hope for survival lies with the same arrogant man who laughed at her while staring down the barrel of her gun.

Colton Avery spent months planning the perfect heist, every detail fine tuned and executed with precise timing. Nothing could go wrong. That is until he comes face to face with a determined woman holding a shotgun. She aimed at his head and never flinched when she took a shot at him. He wanted her the moment the smoke cleared and he saw her face.

Robbing the bank, and handing over the gang of notorious outlaws to US Marshals, would be routine and boring. Sarah Hartford made it anything but. Taming the woman who stole his heart the instant he saw her was a challenge he was more than willing to take on. All he has to do now is escape the gang of outlaws he just double-crossed, hideout from an Indian raiding party and elude the town marshal who just happens to be his little hellion's new fiancé.

Next books in the series will be:

The Gambler - May 2012
The Rancher - June 2012

So who are the characters?

Sarah - She is the good daughter of the banker in town and engaged to the pudgy sheriff in town but not in love with him. She is a strong, plucky female character that refuses to take anything from anybody. Heck she shoots at the bank robber, TWICE, with a shot gun during the robbery while everyone else scream like little girls.

Colt (Colton Avery)- How do I describe this delectable dish of a man? He is a super hot smexy roguish bad boy that protects women and secretly is a good guy. He is a combination of Colin Farrell and Matthew McConaughey if that is even an adequate comparison. I really want this man! Lily, can I keep him? I can't tell you more about him without busting out the story so you will just have to enjoy the ride while you read the story.

Thomas Jenkins - a bank teller in Sarah's fathers bank that screams like a little girl.. He actually has a tiny roll but made my *snort* and Laugh out loud so I had to add him.

Having described Thomas I just have to post the first paragraph of the book.

There were outlaws in the bank. Sarah Hartford sucked in a quiet breath and whispered, "Sweet lord above not again." Her comment drew the attention of Thomas Jenkins, the clerk working the counter with her. When he looked toward the door and saw the gunmen, he screamed like a little girl. The commotion in the room stopped as everyone inside the building turned to look at each other. When they saw the four armed men at the door, their frightened screams echoed Thomas.

*SNORT*!!! It still makes me laugh!

I appreciated that Lily stayed true to the era and Sarah worked very hard to maintain her virtue even during difficult situations. YES, there are some hot scenes for all of us gals who love them but boy oh boy does Colt have to work for it...hee hee.

I must say, remember this story is set in the historical wild west. Back then women did not voice their wants and desires to men. Every once in a while when I got frustrated with Sarah and wanted to scream "just tell him you love him already!" I had to remind myself that would never happen back then and breathe through it and of course keep reading. I charged through this book in a day and a half... so yeah, I liked it A LOT!

All in all, another great read from Lily Graison.

Oh and Colt can kidnap me anytime.

Sarah lived a normal life working her fathers bank, she dreamed of normal things like getting married to the perfect man. but one day her life changed. Colt Avery walked into her fathers bank with his out law friends and held up the bank and stole all the money. Sarah seeing no one was going to help and she decided she was going to stop them herself. she got out a shot gun and aimed at the leader but missed. she knew right from the start that she was drawn to the leader.

the outlaws take off but not before one grabbed Sarah and took her as hostage wanting to do a number of nasty things to her. if it wasn't for Colt then he would of had his way with her.

Ill skip on into the book a bit so I don't spoil the book for you. Colt and Sarah end up on the run from the outlaws, with Colt doing everything in his power to keep Sarah safe. in the mean time the two are drawn closer and closer the longer the two are in each other company. Sarah ends up dreading going back to her normal life after having such an exciting experience with the very handsome colt.

This is yet another amazing book from Lily, I love this series. its so different from the books/series I seem to be reading alot of lately and it is very refreshing. The book is really well written and you will find it hard to put it down once you have started it. I love the chemistry that runs between Sarah and Colt. the desire that runs out of the two of them makes my toes want to curl and my tummy flutter. The only regret I have is that it took me so long to get to reading it.

My second Willow Creek book, just as fantastic as the first one. I am in love with the people from Willow Creek.

Sarah Hartford always wanted and dreamed of a grand adventure. She just never expected to find it in the arms of an outlaw. When her father's bank is robbed, Sarah's doesn't make the outlaws lifes easy. For her trouble she is kidnapped by one of the outlaws. To make matters worse she laughs at the arrogant man who has a barrel of a gun pointed at her.

Colton Avery has spent months planning the perfect bank robbery. Every detail fine tuned and executed with precise timing. Nothing could go wrong until Sarah aims a shotgun at Colton and fires at his head. He wanted her the moment the smoke cleared and he saw her face.

The plan was to rob the bank and hand the outlaws over to the US Marshals. It was meant to be routine and boring but Sarah makes it anything but routine and boring. Colton decided that he wants to try and tame Sarah and make her his. But there are problems in his way, the outlaws he double-crossed and the Indian raiding party.

Can Sarah and Colton escape the Outlaws and Indian raiding party? Can Colton tame Sarah? Does Sarah want to be tamed by Colton? Read the book to see!!!

I would recommend this book and the series so far.

Let me just say this was an amazing book, if you haven't read any of Lily Graison's books, what are you waiting for. This is an awesome book that starts a stubborn, strong, loving Heroine, Sarah and the sexy Colt.
Colt is an arrogant man who is the leader of guys robbing her father's bank. These two lovable characters meet when Sarah pulls a shotgun and shoots (misses) Colt. From that fabulous meeting he falls for her. These two take you on a ride where the chemistry is hot and the sexual tension is off the charts. I encourage you to read this and look at the amazing couple two turn out to be. Check out the rest of the series because these two are not the only ones that will have you reaching for a cold glass of water.

Loved the storyline - but wish it had more depth. Like the first book, the characters were shallow and lacked the complexity all people possess. I gave this one a three stars because I loved the intergration of the characters from the first book into this second book and the suspense of how on earth such a nice, well brought up girl would end up with the Outlaw, and there would be a happy ending. The author, to her credit made it work in a credibly way.
