Another charming book in the Froggy series that my granddaughter loves. I found this one at a resale shop and it is just so much fun to read, even over and over again. It perfectly relates to a toddler's bedtime routine with their constant wanting more books, a glass of water etc etc etc.

Highly recommend for this age group. The illustrations are just so darn cute with lots to look at on each page.

Another great Froggy book that both adults and children will identify with as Froggy thinks of every way to stall the inevitable and finally go to sleep.

Froggy Goes To Bed” is a sweet storybook that I got recently at a local charity shop. I see that this series of “Froggy” books came out in 1992 and continued until 2011. Mine is the eighth, published in 2000 and I really enjoyed it, granting it four stars. The story is so brief that I will refer to little of it and discuss more of the artwork. Although he sounds Polish, I see that illustrator Frank Remkiewicz is a Florida resident and the author is a Californian, Jonathan London. He is said to be a nature-lover whose aim is for his literature to honour it. His series seems to parallel our Canadian “Franklin” turtle, who also emerged in the 1990s.

Animals do love and protect their children; even if tadpoles are independent after hatching. At our country home, we love and respect life so much: if it is so dry that our ditchwater evaporates, we pour our hose into it long enough for the tadpoles to survive! This cleans our well too. I read up on authors who created literature I own and derive greater pleasure, knowing that some people’s hearts belong to animals and nature, like ours. Frank must share animal appreciation in common with Jonathan, as the bright, happy expressions on the frog son’s and Mother’s faces show.

His surrounding detail is my favourite trait: cows and cactuses on the boy’s quilt, holding a doll while browsing a ladybug book. A kind owl peeks into Froggy’s window from a green branch; with the window’s background alight in an orange sunset. I love the preciousness and loyalty of Froggy hugging his Mom, who fell asleep reading Froggy his ladybug book. My dearest Mom went to Heaven two months ago. It was my pleasure to have read for her.

Froggy is a spoiled little shit that should cut his mom some slack... also, why the hell was his toothbrush in the cookie jar?

This book is cute, but for some reason...Froggy always manages to annoy me.
Before I get into this little review of mine, what in the heck does sentence #2 even mean??
"Froggy was too pooped to pop." I just don't get it. What is this pop that London speaks of?

Anyway. For being so tired, Froggy doesn't seem like he's going to bed anytime soon. He has enough energy to yell and hop everywhere on some goose chase for his bedtime preparation objects.

Forgive me, but I always assumed that the sole purpose of brushing your teeth was to clean out your mouth and remove the digestive chemicals and sugars that are lodged in your teeth and whatnot by the help of a toothbrush. Correct me if I'm wrong. Froggy's toothbrush is in the cookie jar.....this kinda defeats the entire purpose of brushing his gums or teeth, whatever. It would seem to me that the toothbrush would have already taken on a bunch of sugar like household furniture takes on dust. Therefore, it would now be pointless for Froggy to brush before bedtime.

Also, I don't find Froggy's toothbrush in the cookie jar to be in the least bit sanitary. I am quite certain that Froggy's family planned on eating them sometime in the future. However, considering they are now covered in Froggy's SALIVA, I don't see this happening.

Finally, why in the heck would Froggy waste his time brushing his gums if he's just going to end up eating FLIES afterwards? I'm sure flies would probably not leave his gums in the least bit clean.

I think this book could have used a little more planning and LOGIC. =|

In this story, Froggy's Mother is trying her best to get Froggy--"who isn't tired" off to bed. It is the story of every parent who has or has ever had a young child. There is a bath, a spilled glass of water, another glass of water, lost bedtime items and finally a tuckered out Mother who has read too many bedtime stories. It made me wonder where Daddy Frog was in all this. It is a cute story, even though, I could have done without Froggy answering his mother "WHAT??" all the time, as I prefer my frogs to politely answer, "Yes, Mama," when I call on them. Read out loud the various noises Froggy makes are pretty cute.

For those familiar with the Accelerated Reader Program, this is a level 2.0 book.

This is the second going to bed book that I have read with a similar theme and it is one I don't care for. The child (or in this case frog) comes up with tons of excuses why they can't get ready for bed to the point that by the end of the story the mom is so exhausted she falls asleep before the child. Not saying it doesn't happen but isn't an idea I want to give my child that it is fun to try and outlast their parent at bedtime. Won't be reading again.

This book is about Froggy going to bed but of course he had to make it difficult for mother froggy. As we journey through this story we go through each of the steps froggy and mother takes to put Froggy to bed. We see a pattern as whenever Froggy needs something its not where it usually is and Froggy "needs to go find it". This to me seems like a common trend for young kids as they are stalling to be put to bed. Mother froggy is very patient with Froggy while he goes through his nightly shenanigans. At the end of the book we find Froggy in bed asking his mother to finally read him a bedtime story. At this point mother is exhausted and as she's reading she ends up falling asleep and Froggy kisses his mother goodnight and proceeds to go to bed himself. This story was very cute and relatable as I have gone through the same struggle when I have had to put kids I was babysitting to bed. I recommend this book to elementary school students as they would find Froggy to be funny and maybe relatable to them as well. I rated this book to be 3 stars because it simple made me smile.

Froggy Goes to Bed is another routine in which children may relate to because it includes the basic ways of getting ready for bed. My theme of goodnight stories goes hand in hand with this one, showing children that it may take a long time to get ready for bed until everything is just right. It also exhibits that some people have different routines than others as well. This picture book is about Froggy slowly getting ready for bed, he also needs to find the things he needs such as his toothbrush and pajamas. His mother is patient with him throughout, and ends up falling asleep to a book she reads to him. I think that this relates to “The Purple Jar” by Edgeworth because the little girl is very stubborn with what she wants and does not seem to understand that not everything is as it seems. Froggy takes such a long time getting ready for bed that he does not realize that it is his moms' bedtime as well, and she is very tired. He then falls asleep in bed next to her. Perhaps next time Froggy will get to bed sooner, acknowledging that his mother is tired as well.

Froggy Goes to Bed is a book about a young frog going to bed. His mom tries her best to put him to bed, but she can't. He looks for his toothbrush and runs everywhere besides his room. Finally his mom put him to bed, and while she was reading him a bed time story she fell asleep. After she fell asleep the little froggy was able to sleep.

I like this book because the pictures are very well drawn. This is also a shorter picture book so about any kid could read this book. This book is also a story about a boy and her son and the troubles of putting him to sleep.

I would use this book in a lower level classroom. I think any kid could read this book, and it was very easy read. Kids could also laugh about the struggles of bed time, because many kids do not like going to bed.

"Froggy Goes To Bed" by Jonathan London.
I used to love the Froggy books; I even had a couple of my own. They are very relatable to both parents and kids. Froggy's mom helps Froggy get ready for a bath, but every time Froggy does something like brushing his teeth, he has to look for it, and it is always in such a random spot. Froggy gets in bed and decides he needs all kinds of things before going to bed. The last thing he asks his mom is for her to read a bedtime story to him. His mom says yes but gets tired and falls asleep while reading. Froggy is still awake and kisses his mom before finally going to sleep. These books are silly, but you and your kids will love them. This one is great for a before-bed story. This is friction as Frogs do not live like humans.

Although I think I get the basic point of this story, I found the main character Froggy to be super obnoxious. I get that a lot of kids do this stuff, but the dragging out of the bedtime routine is just as exhausting to read about as it is to experience. The repetition in the story enhances the feeling of frustration parents feel when trying to get their kids to sleep (and young children learn best with a repetitive story structure), so it is purposeful and functional, but it does make the reading experience more tiresome and less engaging for me as a parent. I also hated how none of his belongings were in the right places and he had to check in gross places for them.

All in all, the illustrations were cool, and I get the function of the story, but I found it somewhat tiresome to read.

Froggy goes to bed is a very silly, and very relatable story about a froggy and it's mother's bedtime routine. Froggy does everything in it's power to avoid bedtime. If you've ever put a child to bed, lyou know the routine! I think this would be a great book for parents to try to get their child to bed in a more consistent fashion. You could read this book while your child, and preform every step as you read it, That way, you and your child will learn a routine and they wont have any excuses by the time they get to bed!

This is a book about Froggy and his nightly routine. I think this would be a great book to teach scheduling to students. I think we could read this as a class and write down everything that Froggy does in list form. We could then talk about our nightly routines and learn how to write them out for ourselves. This would also be a great time to go over how to read a clock because the kids could then begin to take notice of what time they do certain things.

This is another book we ended up purchasing from the library after Heather tore the pages. Still, I'm glad to have it! It's a good book for stage between very simple, basic, short words and multiple picture books and ones with longer chunks of text. It's a happy medium that actually holds her attention. The frequent sound effects sprinkled in add a fun, reliable element, too.

"Froggy Goes to Bed" is a fun and playful children's book that follows the adventures of Froggy, a young frog who is avoiding going to bed. The book is filled with humor and relatable moments as Froggy tries to delay his bedtime routine with games and stalling tactics. The book also touches on themes of the importance of establishing a bedtime routine and the value of a good night's sleep, making it an excellent tool for parents and educators.

I am a PROUD FROGGY FAN! I own every book in this series. Every Froggy story follows the same storyline with a different theme... London has a way of bringing such joy, humor, and delight that the same story line never gets old. He is a master of rhythmic, repetitive, and melodic lines. Oh and his illustrations are pure JOY!

I especially love it when Foggy munches on his FLY PIES.

Such a fun series! My kids loved these books and now I can read them to my grandkids.

Froggy can’t go to bed until he finds his pajamas, toothbrush, stuffed animal, etc. and until his mom brings him a glass of water, closes the closet door, leaves the bedroom door open just so, and reads him a book.

Who falls asleep first?

A fun picture book about a frog who keeps finding excuses not to go to bed. Froggy's attempts to delay his bedtime were kind of annoying and may not be the best example to set for kids...

I always enjoy Froggy books. It reminds me of my parents reading it to me as a kid. This story is so cute that it shows Froggy getting ready for bed and his parents helping him calm down to go to sleep. The pictures are always good and represent the story well.

Very cute book about a little boy(froggy) who does like many children do and find a million different excuses to not get to sleep. His mom continues her efforts and finally he falls asleep to a book just for her to pass out herself and drop the book which woke him up again. Very cute/heartwarming about a caring/loving mother and her son.

One could likely fill an entire zoo with picture book animals who star in books about, "I don't want to go to bed."

Sure, this is a very common topic, worthy of an entire genre of picture book lit.

Froggy's particular variation on this theme includes words that repeat thrice, thrice, thrice.

The story also has playful drawings. Sure, FIVE STARS seems about right.

Exhausted Froggy's mother announces that it is time for bed, yet Froggy remains wide awake and invents numerous excuses to delay his slumber. Each phase of the bedtime process transforms into an escapade: he needs to locate his bath boat, which is hidden in the laundry basket. He hunts for his pajamas, which are tucked away behind his desk. His toothbrush is discovered in the cookie jar. He requests one last drink, a hug, and a story. Although his mother begins to read a tale, her eyelids grow heavy, and she eventually starts to snore. Upon hearing his mother snore, Froggy finally shuts his eyes and drifts off to sleep. This narrative delves into the universally relatable issue of bedtime defiance among young children and the enduring patience exhibited by parents. It incorporates captivating sound effects such as "flop, flop, flop," "zwoop," and "glug, glug, glug," along with vibrant, expressive illustrations by Frank Remkiewicz, rendering it enjoyable and accessible for preschoolers. The humor arises from Froggy's clever delaying strategies and the familiar, slightly chaotic occurrences of daily life. Children resonate with Froggy's wish to continue playing and his imaginative justifications, making bedtime routines appear both amusing and commonplace. While entertaining, it subtly emphasizes the importance of bedtime practices such as bathing, tooth brushing, and storytime.

This book is one of my favorites from this collection. I believe this book is a great way for children to learn how to have a bedtime routine. While at the same time, they will be laughing at how silly Froggy is when it comes to his bedtime.
