Aydan and Zane...where to begin. This is a tangled story of love and loss, sacrifice and revenge, good and evil. I have loved watching the development of Aydan, Nessa, Zane and Cass. And the new characters - well, I just love them too! All I can promise is that this is a story that will keep you wondering, hanging on edge of your seat until the bitter end. Some answers will be given, some relationships revealed. But it wouldn't be one of my stories without something unexpected. Just saying!

I hope you enjoy. And yea...I think there is a short story to bridge books 2 and 3. Yes!

Seriously!! There are no words to begin to describe how I am feeling right now, after finishing this AMAZING book. I think I will take the opportunity to thank the brilliant and wonderful Christine Fonseca for allowing me to read this mind blowing sequel before everyone else. I am honoured more than you know and am truly thankful and grateful for being given the opportunity. Let me tell you, I am completely in awe, totally floored and in love with the words you write. Words, which breathe life into the remarkable stories you weave. Not stories, but eloquent poems that tear at your heart and rip at your soul, in such a good way, of course.

Libera Me will have you holding your breath the entire time you read it. You will not exhale until you read the final sentence and even then you are left breathless and wanting so much more. Your mind will be spinning a million miles per hour, your heart will be pounding, you will be screaming and gripping the edge of your seat. And, even after all that, you will be experiencing all three characters falling apart and you can do nothing but find yourself falling in a tunnel of torment, your heart, shattering into a million little pieces. I swear to you that you will be as fragmented as Nesy, Aydan and Zane. These souls are so tortured and beyond despair, you find yourself feeling so much pain and anguish along with them. Half the time they don't know what is real or not. Their minds are being warped by Azza, by the smoke. But, what remains true through all of this confusion and turmoil is their love. Aydan's undying love for Nesy; Zane's sacrifice and love for Nesy. These two would stop at nothing to help Nesy find out who she really is. Unlock the memories that have been lost to her. It really is heart breaking and gut wrenching. I have come to realise that Christine Fonseca is the Queen of Torment. She really knows how to take you on a journey that will have you spiralling out of control but then ground you with just one breath of a word.

I really don't know what else to say. There is no need for me to go into detail about what happens in this story. There is just too much to even try to explain and I would not do it justice. All I do know is how I felt while reading this story that will keep you wanting so much more and needing to unravel the mystery of what is yet to come. I am now dying to get my hands on book 3 *I will it to be written now ;)* and I can seriously understand why Christine Fonseca was so torn between these two. My heart belongs to both Aydan and Zane. The sacrifices, the anguish, the horror, the love and the undying faith. They really would stop at nothing to do what is right for Nesy, no matter what the consequences. My heart ached for both of them and I just about nearly died a thousand deaths over and over again. Talk about torment.

If you loved Lacrimosa, I guarantee that you will love Libera Me just as much, if not more. And if you have yet to discover this series, I say run, don't dawdle to pick it up. This series is a must read and you will wonder why you ever waited to read it.
I know I have said this before and I will say it again, Christine Fonseca is an artist who has aspired to create a work that speaks volumes in love. This book is true poetry at it's best and I cannot wait to devour so much more. Love Love Love Love this book. Love this series. And, love Christine Fonseca.

I would like to thank my friend and the author Christine Fonseca for trusting me with a rough draft/ARC of this BEAUTIFULLY AMAZING book to read and give an honest review. I am honored and humbled to have been trusted to read this masterpiece of literature. And I was not in the least bit disappointed with it, as I knew would be the case. It took me a while to pull my thoughts together to be able to write this review because I just did not know how to coherently put my words on paper! Yes, this book is THAT good, THAT amazing. If you enjoyed Lacrimosa (Requiem #1) then you will be blown out of the water by what Libera Me offers to you! This book was so amazing that I read it TWICE, yes, you read that right, TWICE, just because I had to go back and re-wrap my mind around the story so I could get that much more out of it.

Blurb from Goodreads:

The lines between good and evil have never been so blurred.

For starters I must comment on the cover of this book. It so accurately captures the theme of the book. The characters laying in opposite directions signifies to me the push and pull you feel between them as the book progresses. And how it depicts the two characters together, well, it's just HOT! You cannot get much better than that. I like this cover much more than the original one. When I first saw the new cover, I was so excited. Christine shared it with me before it was completed and I loved it then. Then I got to see it grow with her process of changing it and WOW! What an amazing choice for this book!

As always, the characters in this series completely and totally keep me wanting more. They are so well developed, it is not possible to not get completely and totally engrossed in them. I feel connections with each and every one of them. I love that this book takes a turn and tells the story from Aydan and Zane's points of view. It completely captures their feelings for Nesy, their torture in loving her and their struggle with whether or not to let her go. Reading of their struggle throughout this amazing piece of work was so hard. And yet, I could not stop because I needed to know how things would end for these characters.
Aydan is so conflicted, so tortured, my heart was always in my throat when I was reading his chapters. Watching him unravel is heart wrenching. Watching him battle his demons made me want to cry (and I did). I just love him and feel so badly for him as he tries to come to terms with his torment. And the ways in which he choses to deal with this torment kept me on the edge of my seat. I think the most interesting part of Aydan's struggle in this book is watching him try to figure out what is real and what is not. Trying to figure out if the beast still lives inside him, or if what he's feeling, seeing, and sensing is real.
Zane, well, it was so great getting to really know him in this book. We got a glimpse of who he is in Mea Culpa. We saw his torture and felt his growing need to find Nesy. In this book, you are once again let in on his journey. His soul is just as tortured as Aydan's. And because he remains an angel, it pulls that much more on your heart strings because he knows he is not ever supposed to get emotionally involved. He knows that angels should not possibly feel what he does, and yet it is right there, smacking you in the face. Zane is powerful and sexy, loving and surprising. I loved him more and more as I read for his need to find Nesy. He struggles with the sacrifice he has made for Nesy, and this causes him such pain you feel it ripping at your heart.
And Nesy (Nessa), well, she is and is not what we expect her to be. I won't say much more than that because I don't want to spoil things for the reader! Just know that her whole being is so much more complicated than you could have possibly thought.
The supporting characters are well developed and thought out. We watch as Cass struggles with keeping Zane safe. She's torn apart by possibly losing another being that she loves. And Caim, well, it's hard to say anything about Caim because I didn't trust him from the first book, so why should I have trusted him in this one? He just has wrongness written all over him. And when I see that he's placed with Zane's team to investigate Nessa, I simply could not understand the logic. How could he be trusted after what happened with Lori?

The plot of this book is completely overwhelming. And I do not mean that in a bad way. It's an incredible journey through the minds of two very different characters who want the same thing, the safety and love of someone they are not sure is really who they think she is. While Christine was writing this story, she would send me small emails saying how torn she was between Zane and Aydan. How they were torturing her and constantly calling her back to writing their story. Once you read this story, you will completely understand why. While the plot is not new (bad versus good and the struggle between who will win), the way in which Christine goes about selling it to you is different from anything else you will ever read. I promise the surprises that happen are so unexpected they will have your mind reeling and your heart racing out of control to see where everything ends up. This is a story of sacrifice, love, and torment, of faith, anguish and horror. While this book is not a psychological thriller, some of those elements are in the story line and that makes for a completely different twist on a paranormal read.

As for Christine's writing, well, she is truly a poet. I cannot tell you how engrossed I get when reading her stories. The words flow so easily, one after the other dragging you in, twisting your heart, and blowing your mind. She tells the story in way that makes you want to continue to read and never stop. I found myself sneaking peeks at work just so I would know what was happening next. The words give so much life to the story, chosen so carefully and constructed into a melody that speaks in such an amazing way. It's like reading a song on paper. That's how amazing this writing is. I found myself holding my breath as I turned each page, the words forming amazing images in my mind, like art swirling to life effortlessly on a piece of canvas.

This book will blow your mind in so many ways. If you read Lacrimosa, and enjoyed the awesomeness that was the first book in the Requiem series, then this story will shatter your mind into so many pieces you will have to pick them up and read the book again to fully absorb it's awesomeness!

5 out of 5 shining stars from me, if I could give it more, I totally would! I need book #3 in hand RIGHT NOW!

I finished this book a while ago, and have been digesting the story and what to write in a review. I'm not as good as some on this site with reviews and why I did or didn't like a book, but here goes!

First off, I would read anything Christine writes, even if it were a page in the phonebook. Her writing draws you in, makes you feel what her characters are, and lets you experience the richly defined world they live in as if it were your own.

Some of the following may be spoilery so I will hide it just in case..

I loved this book and devoured it in short order. Am anxiously awaiting the next to see what befalls my book friends I have grown to know and love. Thank you Christine for all the escapes via literature you've given us !!!

Oh how I had dreamed about this day. The day that this beautiful book would end up in my
hands and I would get to page through it's glorious story. You want to know something? Despite
my self made hype and the excruciating amount of time I had to wait after reading Lacrimosa, this
book was every bit worth the wait. In fact I knew 4 pages in just how worth it, it was! Yeah I am
talking that good and then some. Although I hated the wait the end result was worth it and Christine has outdone herself once again. I was blown away and completely entranced in this novel and the amount of detail and thought that was once again poured into its pages.

The plot truly thickens in this novel. It's like everything you think you know you don't and everything you don't know can happen at the turn of a page. Things are really changing and not all of it for the better. Starting this book was like walking into everything I had wanted, to start. Aydan has found the one he believes to be Nesy and they seem to be working to help her remember. But there is more at play than the two of them as Zane now means more than anyone knows. It was heart breaking at times watching what everyone had to go through, had to fight for and what the results were for each individual.

This novel isn't as much about Nesy as it is Aydan and Zane. This is a huge change of pace and on that did wonders for this book. I did expect more from Nesy's pov but it totally worked without it every step of the way. Gone is the strong, sure and determined Nesy now anyways. She is a shell of her former self now that her memories are gone. There were times when she broke through it seemed but for the most part she is no longer herself and is confused. Well confused or denying who she could be, who she really is. It was sad to see her so lost and broken because she is such a pillar in the story but Christine as done this in such a way that I still love Nesy and still want to reach out to her.

Aydan is still struggling to loose his past and his past mistakes but he has grown. Boy has he ever grown and is becoming stronger than I ever imagined. Not that he was ever weak but his new persistence and devotion to Nesy is endearing. Though they had something previously this time around he tries more. He doesn't just push his worth away and believe that they aren't meant to
be. In fact this time around he has to fight for her and their future together. The strength and
determination that he has discovered within himself when I comes to her is wonderful. He does
make some mistakes though and it costs more than I though it would.

My wonderful Zane is a large part of this novel. I love Christine for having him be such a large part of the story and I know she didn't do it for me but she knew th affection I felt or Zane. It only deepens in his instalment and I found frequently my heart going out to him. He has given up so much just to save someone that doesn't know just how deep his feelings run. What he has lost cost him and he battles his own demons now, fights through what everyone now calls his weakness. But isn't that what we do for the ones we care about? No matter the consequence Zane continues to disobey orders and fight for the truth he believes in. In this aspect Zane has grown so much an become a more imporant part of everything and I just fell further for him. His pain though pulled at my heart much stronger and more than once I felt my chest constrict. Zane is who I fell for and so much more now.

I was left breathless and shocked many time as I read this book. The last 40% of the book refused to let me do anything but read. The 60% before that had pulled me in and captured every free moment of time I had. This includes being pulled into the kitchen with me while I cooked and through a minor break down when I ran out of power and had to stop to charge. There is so much I want to write in his review but can not find the right words. Truth be told I am so blown away that I'm not sure any words, including the ones already written can do it justice.

This work of art is just more proof of Christine Fonsca's brilliant mind. The writing is beautiful, fluent and absolutely mesmerizing. Even those that are wary of Angel novels will most likely love this book because it is so much more than just an Angel story. This is a book about friends, truths and the fight that we have within ourselves when it comes to love. If you haven't started this series I suggest you do and if you have I can say that I honestly believe you will love this one just as
much if not more than Lacrimosa.

'Libera Me' is the second book in the Requiem series, which follows Aydan, Zane, and Nessa while they try to overcome their pasts to figure out Nessa's true identity. This is a highly interesting series that mixes the lines of good and evil for the sake of true love. It's full of great paranormal beings, namely angels and demons, and their relationship with each other and with the human race. The plot is intriguing and brings new aspects to the young adult paranormal genre. I liked the history and the backstory that the author provides for the characters, especially for Zane, Aydan, and Nesy. The romance in the book is palpable and highlights the tension between the main characters, which I thought adds even more layers to the story. The writing was well done and there was a decent amount of action thrown in for good measure too. Overall, this is a solid second book in the series and fans of paranormal romance won't be disappointed.

I think it's about time I wrote a review for this. Thank you Christine Fonseca for giving me a digital copy for review. I finished reading this during the time when I first got a job so I didn't have time to write the review. Now I do. Heh.

Despite giving this 4 stars, I was somewhat disappointed with how things ended. Contradicting? I know. I still love how it was written, so much emotion and sadness and #feels. I didn't like Vanessa. I was slightly irritated with her. I felt bad for Aydan. I felt bad for everyone. Some parts were confusing, partly because I have no idea what was going on. Who's the real villain? OMG so lost. But I still kept on reading.. and wanting to find out what will happen now. It's so sad. But I love it.

Again to Christine, congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your art. <3

First and foremost, thank you Christine for providing a copy of this review. Secondly, thank you Christine for these characters and this world. Libera Me was exactly what I expected. Brilliant. How could it not be, I mean this is Aydan and Zane we're talking about. I loved the alternating viewpoints from Zane and Aydan. The heartbreak each of them felt was written so painfully clear. Aydan's confusion over what could be going on and Zane's inability to past what he wants to believe. I just love these boys! And Nesy/Nessa, that girl has got some serious strength in her. I can't wait to see what happens next.

An emotional ride that kept me guessing at every turn, dip, and upside down whirl. It isn't often that an author can blow me away with the first book and then out-do themselves with the second and impress me even more, but that's what Christine has done. This novel will have you gripping your e-reader until your fingers are white. Love, sacrifice, redemption, damnation, hot angels and demons, it has it all and so much more!

How do I tell her she is a trained assassin for Celestium, a Sentinal whose job it is to kill? How do I help her see that her memories are real? -Aydan

Libera Me book 2 of the Requiem Series by Christine Fonseca picks up a few months after we last saw Aydan in a high school in Puget Sound, Washington. Aydan is now in a relationship with a girl named Vanessa, Nessa for short, who has no memories of her life for the last 15 years as she was kidnapped when she was three. Or at least that is the story she believes. Aydan believes that it is his Nesy, alive and human. He is determined to help her remember him and what they meant to each other.

But is Nessa really Nesy? The Council of Celestium doesn't think so when Zane, Nesy's best friend and a Mediator, reveals what he has learned from watching Aydan and Nessa. The Council, all save Mikayel, believe Nesy dead. What they do not know is the deal struck between Zane and the demonic smoke (that just sounds evil!!) to keep Nesy alive after she sustained a wound from Azza at the end of book one. What was a part of this deal? Zane gave all his memories of Nesy and his angelic senses to the smoke in exchange for Nesy to live, even if only as a human. However Zane becomes obsessed with finding her, making sure that what he lost still lived.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this addition to the Requiem series. I fell in love with Zane, who we get to see his POV in this book along with Aydan's. In book one, I saw Zane as the obnoxious, know-it-all best friend. No longer do I see him as this. He is heartbroken by Nesy's death and strikes a deal to keep her alive. Not just because they were friends, but because even though it is forbidden and she loves someone else, he loves her! And I love him for it! His passion and obsession with his friend melted my heart. I cried with him, felt his joy and his anger.

Aydan however I still don't love. I'm so apathetic towards this character. I just cannot seem to get his suffering. He chose to avenge Nesy and take a deal with Azza. He chose to become the Beast. Now as he tries to redeem himself as a human, he still has those same urges, to kill and feed on the desperation and fear around him. He loves Nessa, a girl who may or may not be Nesy who is supposed to be his one true desire, his destiny. Just like in book one, there is a lot of wishy-washy feelings with Aydan. Will he succumb to the beast? Is it just nightmares or did it really happen? I was confused a majority of the time when I was reading Aydan's POV. But I think this was on purpose, because really Aydan is bipolar. He has both a soul and the Beast residing in him. The question is will he let it out?

When I read book one, my favorite character was Azza, but he is missing in this installment. But you know what? It was okay that he was. Because there's a new villain, and you don't know who or what it is until the end so I'm not spoiling that one!!! However, it just makes for a great book when you know there is evil but you don't know who to blame or fight. It just builds the fear.

Then the conflict in Celestium. There's a lot of secrets being kept between the Council members, a lot of distrust between Zane, Cass, and Caim (the angel who replaced Nesy in their team). All of this builds up to what I hope will be an epic conclusion in Book 3.

The edition I received also contained two short novellas. The first Mea Culpa is Zane's story. This is what happened to Nesy and what did Zane really bargain with when he made his deal with the demonic smoke. I loved this insight and really wish I would've read it before reading Libera Me because it would've added to the story. The second Enigma is Lorelei's story of the Seers. This gives a huge insight into how Lorelei survived after Elle/Nesy was killed in Germany. There's a surprise character in it that I was shrieking for joy when I read the name. And I feel that this short story will be influential in Book 3.

If you've not read book one Lacrimosa, please do yourself a favor and read it first. Otherwise you will be lost in book two and you definitely want to read book two! I loved this story and cannot wait to start on book three and see what happens to Nesy, Aydan, Zane, Cass, Caim, and Azza.

I received a copy of this ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Libera me is book two from Requiem Series by
Christine Fonseca

This time we read from Zane and Ayden's points of views, instead of Ayden's and Nesy's point of views.

Nessa

Ayden

Mmmmmmmmm... What should I say?!!!
Short summary:

After the death of Nesy in book one, and meeting this new girl 'Nessa'. Ayden and Zane try to make sure that Nessa is the reborn of Nesy. Nessa has no memories at all about her past; she doesn’t remember being an angle, Nesy, or even Ayden.
We see that those memories are exchanged by Zane and Mikayel with the smoke "Lilith." Zane also had given his sight as an angelic ability to save Nesy, because Zane is also in love with Nesy. He keeps violating the orders in order to protect and save Nessa, While Ayden is trying hard to keep the beast inside, trying not to wake it up.
Nessa and Ayden are attacked by humans. Ayden losses consciousness, but somehow the sentential in Nessa wakes up and she fights back almost killing them, this was prove enough for Zane that Nessa is Nesy the sentential.
The council opens an investigation. And we meet Caim again - guardian. He is supposed to investigate this case and protect Nessa and Ayden, for some reason we see him not caring about Nessa and accusing her to be with Azza, the deamon –the dark one-, who wants to retrieve Ayden back and awakes the beast buries inside of him.

Characters:
We have stoic characters like the two seers- Nesy's family, the angels of the council, the smoke.
Ayden now is human (who is still the handsome badass lover boy,) Zane, Nessa, and Cass.
And Caim, the evil, traitor angel. I adore him. His character is amazing, smug, arrogant, badass, cheeky, who follows his own rules. The evil characters in Fonseca's books are very interesting indeed and well painted. To be honest, believe it or not when Cass says he looks like Nesy, I thought for a teeny tiny moment that Nessa isn’t the reborn of Nesy but Caim is.

I liked Zane's side at first because of his encounters with Caim, WHAT EXCITING ENCOUNTERS. He acted well, and I really believed him, I thought he is a good character, but an objective character. HE FOOLED ME! Yeah, I blamed both Zane and Ayden for not trusting him. It turns out I AM A BIG FOOL.

It is a wonderful way how this book filled me with doubts, made me tense to know what happens next, maybe the plot, maybe the main idea, maybe the events but I finished reading in no time.

It felt like light five starts read to me. The style is still too simple, I like simple but not too simple. But the fact that the narrators are in grave situations and confused, and lightheaded, make the simple style more applying. In fact I felt exactly how the characters felt, I was confused, lost, puzzled as much as they were. I was possessed by each character in time.

The last chapter in Libera Me is defiantly the best one, at the least for me. But I am not gonna tell you about it. :p

My rating is 5 starts.
For the plot, the story, the characters, not to mention the cover of course – it is a hell of a cover.
Recommended :)
You guys should really read the Requiem Series.

Where to begin…

Let’s start with the cover. I love this new cover. It’s much better than the previous one, but although I do love it, I think I would have preferred less Nesy and more Zane. That may be the “Team Zane” in me talking. But truth is, whether the book had gained a new cover or not, I would have still read it since I’m already interested in the story and yes, because Zane has a bigger part in it.

As I’ve mentioned before, Christine Fonseca really has a way with words and this book was not an exception since it’s another beautifully written one. The book keeps a steady pace while it’s climbing up and setting up for those last chapters and there’s less action than in Lacrimosa, but this book didn’t really need it. Libera Me was more about discoveries and revelations, and possibly building up for the next book. That doesn’t mean the book is simply copy-paste from a previous installment or a “filler book”. It isn’t. There’s new characters, more elements are added to the story, and it has some twists that I honestly didn’t expect, like the identity of the evil smoke. That really was totally unexpected.

Libera Me has alternating points of view between Zane and Aydan and I love that. It was great getting to see things from Zane’s perspective and, this time around, he was the link to letting us know what was going in Celestium. I love Zane, although some times I wanted to smack him over the head and shake some sense into him. But most of the time, I just wanted to hug him because of all he was suffering. It was just heartbreaking. I knew he was right, he seems to be most of the time, but I still wanted him to just let go and worry about himself for once.

At the end of the book, I was really annoyed with Nesy, but I’m willing to cut her some slack… Aydan also pulled at my heartstrings a few times. Especially when he was battling against the monster inside him and although his fate was hinted at a few times in the book, I still felt the need to tell him, “Aydan, you are big boy aren’t ya?” *wiggles eyebrows*

Throughout the book, I was really suspicious of two characters, Caim, he’s the new boy on the block or at least he has a bigger part in Libera Me, and Cass. Caim is an interesting one. I would definitely like to know more about him and if his part in it all will be bigger. And well, I was suspicious of Cass because she always seemed to pop in at the “right” time. I was also wondering if she was stalking poor Zane.

I thoroughly enjoyed Libera Me’s emotional ride from both point of views. I do feel I learned more while reading Zane’s, but Aydan’s was just as emotional. They both have to fight their own personal demons, and I mean this literally, to be able save the person they love and that makes it all the more interesting. I will definitely be waiting for the next installment of this series.

*Review appears originally as part of my stop on the Libera Me Tour.

I'm in agony, alright? How could I NOT LIKE any Christine Fonseca books? She's born to write for meeee!!!

Okay, that probably crossed the line but heyyyy, this woman has a gift with words. I think if I to die and reincarnated seven times as an emperor penguin, Darth Vader, an orc, a Ferrero Rocher, a bottle of mineral water, Sheldon Cooper, and Batman love interest, I still can't write as good as Christine Fonseca.

Before I decided on my final rating, I had to keep asking myself, am I being too harsh? I mean, I rated some books with sub-par writing more than 2-stars.

But girl,

And the message I got from this book was 'it's okay to cause so much destruction, to cause pain to everyone around you as long as you get to follow your heart'. For instance,

"And if she unleashes the Beast? What then? You know that it means if you can't control it."
"Oh yes, I know. And it's a risk I gladly take if it means there's a chance to save Nessa from all of this."

Wow. So every other human lives in this planet don't matter?

Okay, maybe I was being too harsh just now. But get this, the reading experience was not pleasant for me at all. But I have to applaud Christine Fonseca for her courageous attempt to make this book really different from its predecessor, Lacrimosa.

She was able to explore so many different emotions such as guilt, despair, longing and making sure you feel them too. Sadly, that didn't work for me because I kept going back to how the problem emerged in the first place and I always found the person to blame. Study these lines for example;

"What if it's a trap, Zane? Did you think about that? What if she's a demon sent by Azza?"
"Then I guess I'm going to die."

So instead of getting connected with the characters, I laughed and said 'serve you right' instead.

Yeah, I'm not a good reader in that sense.

Nessa. *sigh* Instead of being creep-ed out by a new guy who claimed he knows you all his life before, you feel guilty because you can't get your memories back? What evidence Aydan has for you to trust him that easily?

And you really need to stop crying.

Aydan. STOP CALLING YOUR GIRLFRIEND, BABY. Enough said.

Cass serves nothing more than Zane's personal angel. She has to keep telling Zane to do the right thing and sadly, Zane never listens.

But yeah, at the end of the day, if you think you like to enter a labyrinth of dreams and delusions with serious make outs in between while the actual story is static then this book is for you.

Ok, I have to admit straight from the get go that I screwed this one up! Libera Me is a really interesting book but I was totally lost and couldn’t figure out why. I looked up the synopsis in Goodreads and noticed that this is actually book TWO of a series that has #0.5 Dies Irae, #1 Lacrimosa, and #1.5 Mea Culpa ALL prior to this one! And sadly I did not have the time to read those before this review. So, the review below is based on my not realizing and as I was researching this I did have the email from the fabulous Heather from SupaGirl Tours with the previous mentioned books! I must say though, even though I read them out of order I am quite intrigued and plan to start over, read in order and probably update this review! And then I will be ready for book 3 out of the bunch, Dominus!

Whew… that was a mouthful but I really needed to get that out before you read this review, which is still positive but I felt like I was missing so much and well yeah, having not read the previous three books I kind of feel like inserting a DUH moment here.

This book was really good though. It was like I was reading a character arc that just kept going and going and going! Then tension wasn’t building, the tension was massive from page one on, so thick you could literally cut it. It is a bit of a love triangle and I wasn’t sure who to cheer for not having the full information but honestly I wasn’t even sure if I trusted Nesy from the get go. Stuff happens, which is what is keeping that tension so thick, that just could not be explained easily. And I kind of just want to shake both guys and make them listen! But we know how love works and when you’re in love what you will do to save your loved one, even if it is from themselves!

And not only do you have just Nesy and this love triangle to worry about, there is sooo much more that I don’t totally understand yet. But I do know one thing the characters and the plot are really good. Definitely good enough to go back and see what I’m missing!

Also, something that doesn’t have to do much with the actual story line. I love the way Christine Fonseca writes. As I said I felt consistently throughout this book that this was at a level of intensity that from the beginning didn’t drop. I don’t know many authors that can consistently keep that up! It was brilliant and I can not wait to read more from her, starting with the first three!

I won a competition and won the novella Dies Irae (#0.5) and Lacrimosa (#1) and I have continued on the Requiem series by reading the Mea Culpa (#1.5). So when I found the Book Tour for the next instalment in the series, Libera Me, I was so on board!! Christine has continued the amazing journey of Aydan and Zane in this book and of course she has left me wanting more!

Libera Me is an emotional journey for both characters in this book as they both believe that Nessa is Nesy reborn. But Nessa has no memories of any past lives and cannot believe that she is that person. But there are some things that she does that leads both guys to believe that Nesy is just hidden real deep in Nessa’s mind.

Zane takes it upon himself to help her remember. But Zane has to convince The Council of his plans, as well as deal with his own emotions. Aydan tries to convince her that he loves Nessa whether she has her memories or not. But Aydan has his own demons to fight and is not sure who he can trust anymore.

All of my favourite characters made appearances in this book too. Cass plays a big role, trying to anchor Zane. Gabriel and Mikayal try to guild Zane on the right path. But there is a major twist in the story and maybe a new player in the War between Angels and Demons!

Christine wove a brilliant story of love and friendship. She takes us into some dark aspects, but it all combines into an astonishing story that I found hard to put down. And she was able to shatter my heart by the end of the book. (I shed a few tears too!!)

I also had a vested interest in Libera Me as I got to name a character. He makes a small cameo role in this book and I was so excited to meet Tristan!! (Named after my Son!) But to top things off for the whole book, I was mentioned in the acknowledgements!! Can you believe it?? I was rendered speechless, and then I posted it everywhere!!

To Naomi ~ Thanks for loaning me “Tristan”; although nothing more than a cameo in this story, I have “seen” the story that lays ahead, and man...what an amazing character!

Now isn’t that mind blowing!! For us readers, not writers, it is a dream to get mentioned in a book.... So my dream has come true!! Thank you so much Christine for sharing Aydan and Zane’s story. It was truly incredible and I can’t wait for more!!

I would like to thank Christine Fonseca for giving me this book to read and review. It was wonderful, and I am just so sorry I didn't finish it faster.

Libera Me was a roller coaster of emotions that left me anxious, and gasping, and happy, and then on the next page heart broken. It was a story I could not predict where it was going, and what would happen next. It had so many different twists and turns and surprises.

Aydan. Such a tortured soul. Trying to deny The Beast, and help the only one he has ever loved remember him. He is my favorite character. My heart just breaks for him and I so want him to have a moment of peace and joy. I am still holding out for his redemption. Here are a few lines that I loved that explain his torment best:

"There is no peace in these dreams. Only endless nightmares reminiscent of the life I tried to forget. The life I tried to hide."

"Thoughts weave and spin as every dream, every nightmare, plays forward. The puzzle pieces fit together perfectly. Everything makes sense now. Nesy is my life, My death."

Zane. He is blinded by his love for Nesy and needing Nessa to be her. It becomes sort of an obsession to bring Nesy back and restore memories. Even though he ended up being used, I still love him and his loyalty. He pulled through in the end.

Nessa. Doesn't remember the girl Aydan and Zane tell her she is. She has her own torture to deal with. Is she even Nesy at all or just an illusion? I feel she is a pawn in the big deception.

Cass. Sticks by Zane. Loyal. There to comfort.

Caim. He is supposed to keep an eye on Nessa and discover what is going on. But is he to be trusted?

Demonic smoke. Zane gave it his memories, but what is it, and what is it using the memories for? I learned more about this as the book went and it's other names. And it is no good. I hate the Demonic smoke. Hate it.

"Too many possible outcomes. Too many potential futures. And none of them good."

No one knows who can be trusted. What is an illusion and what is real. Christine has written an amazing sequel that keeps you on you toes with suspense. I did not expect the end of this book, and my heart has been ripped out. I need the last book to put it back together. And hope for an absolution. I highly recommend this series to everyone!

Forget all your preconceived ideas about angels and demons etc. This book is absolutely amazing! There is too much information to take in, in one reading. I am sure there is a lot I missed as I feasted on this book and I know I am going to have to read it again just to get the most out of this series.

There were some grammatical errors through the book (words repeated or wrong context words in sentences), but not enough to affect the story line at all. I had read the reviews that explained how amazing this book was and I had read a small excerpt. When I first picked up the Lacrimosa and after reading the reviews etc for the first book I was still a bit sceptical as to just how amazing the series was going to be and my initial thought was that I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as the reviews said it was and just hoped I was going to enjoy it. Well I was very pleasantly surprised by the “Lacrimosa” and “Libera Me” was even more amazing. So many new ideas come out in “Libera Me” that it makes me wonder what could possibly come next? This story had me (probably not right from the beginning of “Lacrimosa” as I was still trying to work out the story line and where it was possibly going in context to what the reviewers had said). I am very impressed with Christine Fonseca and how she uses just enough information to have you wondering what is happening and to work things out along the way. Let me tell you that NOTHING is predictable. Not in any way! The language is very descriptive and has you right there experiencing this fantastic journey. I was lost in this world and seriously did not want to stop reading. But alas in the real world we have family to look after!

The characters were different to your usual “angel” and “demon” characters and none of them are 100% angel or 100% demon or otherwise. I liked how the author adds in extra stories at the end to fill in those unanswered questions or to give you more information on a side track.

I don’t know what other series to compare this one to as it is so different from any I have read before. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing where the author takes us in the continuing journey.

I totally recommend this book. And if you have read the first book I will not have to convince you at all to read this one or the next. I am assuming the author will not let us down with the third book.

The sum of who we are is encapsulated by our memories and experiences giving us a sense of identity, an anchor to this life, What if you had no memories to draw upon, you would become lost and vulnerable, helpless even and Nessa is no different. Gone is the warrior sentinel and a scared human girl has taken her place though Ayden fights to recover his Nesy and help her regain her memories. I kind of felt like a ping pong ball at times (terrible analogy I know) because sometimes I was team Ayden and then after something happened in the next chapter I would bounce back to Team Zane and the many different threads were so deceptive in their simplicity. Is Nessa really Nesy minus her memories or is the real Nesy gone forever? Confusing at times but once you realise not everything you see and hear is real, that evil will always try to deceive you and love will always try to overcome it, I figured it out towards the end. Apart from the wonderful storyline, the key to a great story teller is for the reader to invest in the characters and I certainly did that. While ideally I am not overly fond of love triangles I admired this one, Ayden her soul mate fighting Azza and most of all the evil within himself to be with Nesy yet Zane sacrificed everything to save her even if he would never win her heart. I liked Zane more in this book and his humanistic tendency to agonise over his decision to save Nesy at any cost made him more appealing. Both men worthy in their own way of her yet destined to lose her all over again. I always find Christine's books hard to review, not because I did not enjoy them, I love them but I don't want to ruin it for anyone else yet I feel almost compelled to explain why I couldn't put it down. Above all else, this book is about love and redemption and that no matter what the cost, some things are worth fighting for.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.

Mind twisting!

I enjoyed this book much more than the first book. There is so much speculation with who is who, and What! Who's side are they really on??Can anyone be trusted? Probably not. Nothing seems right, yet everything seems right at the same time.

Here we have the story of Ayden and Nesy, Or Nessa, (depending what you want to believe) trying to concur just about everything and then some to be together. Even when Nessa cant remember who she is... Or are they right, is this Nessa an imposter?

Ayden finds himself a mortal, a normal human being. Well... as normal as Ayden will ever be. A while into this "normal" life of Ayden's, a girl shows up. As soon as he sees her he know, this is his Nesy. She has returned to him. But there's one problem, she doesn't remember who, or what she truly is. They have an instant connection, which solidifies Ayden's way of thinking, that this has to be his Nesy.

Nessa is a girl lost. She doesn't remember anything other than waking up in a strange place with an aunt she has never known. She is being told that she has a past that would drive any "sane" human mad trying to get a grasp on that concept. The only thing that Nessy knows for sure, is that she has an instant connection with Ayden, loves him almost instantly.

While in the background Zane, her bestie from above works tiredly to bring the real Nesy back to the surface. Zane reveals more than a few secrets that will shock you, and helping to complete the complex "Who done it" throughout the entire book. Deals are forged, some agreed and some forced. This entire book had my mind reeling, to figure out WHAT was going on. Who caused what, who was behind what.

Overall, goodread. Would definitely recommend. It tended to get slow in some spots for me, but still fun to read. Would recommend to angel lovers everywhere.

Wow! Christine Fonseca has seriously just blown my mind…again! Not only that, but she given me an amazing opportunity by allowing me to read Libera Me early. Thank you, Christine! I am truly honored and humbled by your generosity. The gift with words that you have is truly awe-inspiring.

From the moment I started the journey into the world of books that Christine Fonseca created known as Requiem, I was a goner. From Dies Irae, to Lacrimosa, to Mea Culpa and now Libera me…every single one of them grabbed hold and didn’t let go. From the intricate world that she created, to the complex cast of characters, everything meshed.

I had really high expectations for Libera Me. Really high! I can honestly say that Christine Fonseca met or exceeded every one of them. There were so many parts in the book where I found myself wanting to scream, or worse, reach through my kindle. I wanted to hug Aydan at times…other times, I wanted to strangle him, take that hug back. But I’m sure that goes without saying. ;o)

Knowing where the story left off and knowing that there is a 3rd book out there somewhere in Christine’s head/hands and knowing how I felt when I was finished, I just have this to say, Christine, your fans want you to write faster so we can see what happens to these two!

I hope you love Libera Me as much as I did! If you loved Lacrimosa, I’ve no doubts that you will like this one too. I mean, what’s not to love? Christine Fonseca is a genius with a pen! ;)

Another winner. This book certainly had me guessing all the way up to the end. Like Zane and Aydan I could never quite settle on if it was truly Nesy or not. This story was told from Zane and Aydan's P.O.V and like Nesy herself, we are left in the dark for what is happening with her and inside her head. I must have been so wrapped up in Aydan and Nesy in the last book that I did not notice Zane's love for Nesy until it comes out in glazing obviousness in this book, just as Cass's feeling from Zane are reveled as well. It is quite the love triangle that Ms. Fonseca has woven. I still wonder about the love affair that started the whole war going between Mikayel/Azzaziel and a mystery woman. I think it is in a short story that I have yet to read and need to check into. We are also introduced to the Jinn in this story and I look forward to learning more about Lilith. The story is fast paced and draws you in quickly, the action is less in this book, but that does not make for a less interesting story. I look forward to the next book due out later this year. I can't wait to see how this battle of good and evil plays out and I so hope that Aydan and Nesy get a H.E.A. I won this book on Goodreads in a givaway, but that held no influence on my review and opinion of the story.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars !!!

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.

Wow!!! I truly enjoyed this read!!! There is action, adventure, romance, passion, forbidden attraction and love!!! I loved every bit of this story.

Okay, let me explain!!! You guys must be confused that I didn't quite enjoy book 1 so what made me enjoy book 2 so much, right? Well the answer to that is Nesy!!! In this second novel Nesy is so much more mature and her character showed signs of development and all this summed up to my enjoyment.

Here the stakes are high and the danger is even more. A grave secret is about to be revealed. Nesy's true identity is still a mystery, will they be able to know the secret? Will it change things for them forever?

Oh my God!!! The thrill and chill in this book is awesome and the twists are totally unpredictable. Kick-ass action scenes and over all passionate romance and suspense made this read a gripping adventure for me. Just awesome!!!

I would like to thank the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to be honest, I had very high expectations for this book. I loved the first in the series, Lacrimosa, and expected to love this one even more. Alas, it feel short.

Pros:
-I really loved Zane's point of view, and his story was quite tragic. Definitely one of the more enjoyable aspects of the novel.

-I also really liked the relationships between the characters like Nessa/Aydan, Nessa/Zane, and Zane/Cass/Caim.

-Once again the plot was very original.

Cons:
-I think the thing that ruined the novel for me was the fact that the characters just seemed to circle around each other. For a good part of the book nothing really occurred. There was a lot building up to the climax and it became boring after a while. It just seemed like there was a slow section towards the middle of it.

Overall, I loved the writing style of this author and loved the continuing story line from the first book, but this sequel fell flat to the first novel.

Hey everyone! :D

Once I finished reading Book One of The Requiem Series (Lacrimosa), I was at the edge of my seat.
The suspense of the last book was breathtaking and there were no stops, just breathless thrill.

When I first started reading it, I was kinda confused because there were a few elements such as the sacrifices that Zane made. I was so utterly clueless but I kept going on because I needed to know what's going to happen to Aydan now that Nesy...ooopps. No spoilers here! :D

I found out there were book 1.5 of The Requiem Series but it doesn't matter.

It was definitely shocking to see that Zane has feelings because in the last book, he was like a total a-hole but I definitely saw the different side of him.

I was really happy and sad at the same time of Nesy's condition but overall, this book is definitely worth my time.

It's great and its the same as Lacrimosa, Suspense at every single page.

Sincerely,
Selina. :D

This second book of the Requiem series was also an AMAZING read. It took off from the start and it puts a different twist on Angels and Demons. Aydan and Nesy now human. Nesy not knowing who she is with Aydan trying to help her get her memories back without much success. Zane (an Angel) doing everything he can to find Nesy with Cass (an Angel) worried for Zane.
One of the short stories at the end of the book Mea Culpa helps explain what happened between Zane and Nesy.
The other short story at the end of the book Enigma helps explain Lorelei’s (Nesy’s sister from when she was human the first time) story.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, I definitely would. It is truly AMAZING.
I am anxiously waiting the third book in the Requiem series Dominus.

Before I begin, thank you to Christine for giving me a copy of Libera Me in exchange for an honest review

This is a highly interesting series that wonderfully threads the goods and evils together. And not to forget the true love betweem Aydan and Nesy. This story brings out many many emotions; it's like testing my range of emotions.

Aydan and Nesy is like Romeo and Juliet, and the both of them deserve better. They need to have each other. They need a time of their own. Urgh, they need to be together!!

Introducing Zane's make the story even more captivating and heart-wrenching. I knew him liking Nesy/Nessa would not have any happy ending, but he's still an awesome guy.

Sometimes, I wanna knock Aydan's head, kick his ass but I still adore him.

Wow! Not at all what I was expecting. Aydan and Nesy can't get a break even when they are mortal.

This book has 2 POV's - Aydan and Zane.

Aydan thinks all is well now that he hs found his "Nesy" but Zane wants to make sure that this girl is really the love of both angel's lives.

Nessa just wants to remember and no one can be trusted or is who they seem to be.

The ending - well it's a big cliffhanger.

Zane! I did think he always was overprotective of Nesy, how he was angry even at matters need not to be concerned of just a friend. I'd like to see how he handles expressing this hidden desire for Nesy. I like reading a love story shared by three people and I don't know why but I always root for the the third wheel. I guess I feel sorry for them for not having the thing they want most. Anyway, I think Libera Me will be a story full of emotions such as desire, love, acceptance, pain, and hope.
