Even though I am 41 years old, I needed reminding of those dreams I had as a girl. What happened to those dreams? Work, marriage, children, life in general.

A friend of mine gave me this book because she said that I am a cheerleader for other people's dreams, but that I needed to listen to my own cheers. I just recently got registered as an associate social worker (only 16 years since getting my master's!) so that I can start earning my hours as a licensed clinical social worker. I've always wanted to be a counselor and I'm finally taking a step toward that dream.

There's still that girl in me that believes dreams can come true. Some later than others. . . .

This is a page-turner of a different order. Whether it's a bad day, or just one of those moments you want to dive into some "me" time, the material in this book offers young girls food for thought and some of the advice parents offer but gets dismissed. Besides, life goes down smoother as a poem!).

You Go, Girl...Keep Dreaming

Self Help

You Go, Girl Keep Dreaming is a book about always believing in yourself and all you do. Keep dreaming is a book full of inspiring quotes, stories and poems. The main idea of this book is that if you can dream it you can do it and that you should always follow your heart. On each page or two is a different poem, quote or story with a colorful illustration. On some of the pages there are blanks that you can fill in your own thinking or experiences. All the stories are different but have the same idea, that you should always believe in yourself and follow your dreams.

I liked this book because all of the stories are different but have the same idea without getting repetitive which would have been really easy to do. The different stories in this book are very thought through without stating the obvious. The stories got the point across without actually having to say the words, you should follow your dreams and believe in yourself. My favorite poem said that if you’ve been let down in life then you probably haven’t worked hard enough for want you want. If you do get let down and it’s really hard to get over it, it’s probably because of something that you really cared about and put hard work into but didn’t end up as you planned. Over all I thought that this was a really good and inspiring book for anyone to read.

This book was originally given to me by ny grandmother when i was around 12 years old. Boy am i glad that still have it! But i an very disappointing in myself that I didn’t read it more often during the years... this is a book that is uplifting and reminds you to be unapologetically yourself. Especially girls, who are molded into a “don’t do this, don’t do that” sort of frame and mindset, pretty much from the moment that they come out of the womb.

As the very insecure child that i was, i very much needed this read and the fact that mu grandmother gave this to me just makes it 10 times more special of a book than what it is by just the writing alone. I found myself giggling in parts and nodding my head a lot reading it this time around. This is a book for GIRLS more so, better if you give it to one in her pre-teens so she can cherish and be molded by the cheery drawings and motivating words here. The teen ages are not easy for anyone. Mostly because it takes us a while to stop caring so much about what others think of us or do about it... they need hope in the form of this charming little book. Now as a young adult i value having this book all this years and these words to tend to when i needed them the most. I didn’t dare to write on the “reflection” pages of the book until a few recent years ago though but i am glad that i ended up writing in them at some point. It was nice to read them now and see how far i have come now vs. how far I thought i would barely get. Was just as inspiring for me personally to read this little treasure back when i was a little girl and just as inspiring if not more so being able to read it again today. Thanks for this grandma!! I love you even more now. (Just in case guys, she’s still alive. Don’t worry. And i was actually able to tell her “i love you” today and walk through memory lane today, talking about this book.) i feel forever grateful! 💓

A perfect read for every young girl, whether confident or not. This is a sweet story of learning to like yourself no matter what and having the courage to go after your dreams in spite of what anyone may say. We've heard it often, just not often enough. And especially when it comes to young adults. They need to know. You can do it!
