Eduard Nikolayevich Uspensky (Russian: Эдуард Николаевич Успенский, Эдуард Успенский) is a Soviet and Russian writer and author of several children's books. Among his most beloved characters are a serious but adventurous boy known, for his serious disposition, by the sardonic nickname of Uncle Fyodor (Дядя Фёдор), from Uncle Fyodor, His Dog and His Cat; and the anthropomorphic duo of Crocodile Gena (Крокодил Гена) and Cheburashka (Чебурашка), featured in a children's novel by Uspensky about the adventures of the two animal friends.

Lapsuudenkodin kirjahyllyssä Takuumiehet on samojen kansien välissä Krokotiili Genan kanssa. Olen lukenut Krokotiili Genaa paljon useammin (se on myös yhteisniteessä ensimmäisenä), ja Takuumiehet on tuntunut jotenkin valjulta siihen verrattuna.
Mutta nyt annoin pitkästä aikaa mahdollisuuden, ja olihan tämä ihan kelpo ja sympaattinen tarina! Kaiken kaikkiaan ideana erinomainen: pienet miehet asuvat laitteiden sisällä, kunnes laitteen takuuaika päättyy.

"No jaa, sinun nimesihän ei oikeastaan ole mikään Aamun peili, vaan Yleisradion uutistoimitus. Ja kun on sellainen nimi, ei aina voi tehdä mitä huvittaa..."

За пореден път да се учудя колко е приятно да се върнеш към любима книга от детството :) Много приятна, леко наивна, разбира се, но контрастът с кримките и хоръриите е потресаващо приятен :)

I read this book because I wanted to read more international literature. I found it at an auction and after seeing it was from Russia, I bid it up and took it home. It is a very pleasant read. There's no overwhelming drama or depressing parts. It's simple and a calming read.

While this book reminded me of Mary Norton's The Borrowers and John Lawrence Peterson's The Littles series, each has its differences and unique spin about how little people live. For instance, they don't have tails. The Warranty People also don't "borrow". They live inside appliances and keep them functioning until the warranty expires. Then they head back the the factory until they are given a new assignment and appliance.

These Warranty People travel to the Russian Country for two months inside a refrigerator because the family has gone on vacation. If they would have remained at their posts, their services wouldn't have been needed for those two months. It is only after they've arrived at the country house that they learn that mice have already occupied it and are not too keen on sharing their territory. This means war...

Это удивительный рассказ, который погружает в ту вольшебную, удивительную, миниатюрную и уютную атмосферу, которую можно понять, только прочитав эту книгу. Эта атмосфера как бы находится внутри дома но на самом деле она не там, где можно подумать, она, эта уютность не такая, которую сразу представляешь, думая о родном доме. Вот прочитаете дети книгу и сразу все поймете сами. Большое наслаждение ждет у вас впереди.

Оказывается, у "Фиксиков" действительно есть книжный прообраз, и автор ему, надо же, Эдуард Успенский. Вот уж открытие года в детской литературе!..
Впрочем, читать (или слушать) это современным детям совсем не обязательно, слишком уж попахивает советщиной вся эта история о "гарантийных". Да и юмор местами не кристально-детский.
Разве только взять на заметку, как доходчиво разъясняет мышиный король, в чем смысл войны:

– Дорогие мыши и сограждане! В наших рядах появились отдельные отступники и изменники! И их большинство! Они узнали, что противник живёт хорошо, и решили, что они должны жить не хуже! Иначе как предательством это не назовёшь. Сосиски – разве это в жизни главное! Даже я могу обойтись без них! А вы то уж и подавно! В первую очередь мы должны завоевать гарантийных!
