Three Girls and a Wedding

Rate this book
Book #2 in the best-selling Three Girls series! Jen Campbell loves weddings. In fact, she loves them so much that she became an event planner in the hopes that she would one day get the chance to help women create the fairy tale day of their dreams...Unfortunately, the only thing Jen has been allowed to plan so far are boring restaurant openings and children's birthday parties.

When Jen's big break finally comes, she realizes that wedding planning is a heck of a lot more complicated than picking out the perfect flowers and cake.

Add to the chaos a pair of fighting friends, a totally pressuring mother, and a ridiculously gorgeous (but moody) best man, and Jen has her work cut out for her.

In Three Girls and a Wedding, Jen Campbell will try to plan the perfect wedding and maybe--just maybe--create her very own happily-ever-after.

I felt meh towards the first book because I realized that Ginny bugged me. This one centers on Jen who is doing what she can to move up the ranks at her PR firm. Jen cares about Ginny and Annie a lot and honestly I was on her side the whole book. I thought that Ginny and Josh sucked and so did Annie towards the end. I don't know if I would have been so cool about forgive and forget. I did think it was weird though that Jen said she loved her love interest and all these two did was kiss I think twice in this book. I literally went huh. That happened way too fast with no real build-up so that's the main reason it gets four stars.

"Three Girls and a Wedding" picks up several months after the last book. Ginny is newly engaged to Josh and now Jen promises to do what she can to help plan Ginny's wedding. It's also the same time that Jen gets a coveted position to help co-plan the wedding of the year between Kiki Barker (socialite) and her fiancee.

I always felt the most engaged with the character of Jen. Probably because she loves to cook and is the one always calming down her friends when they start fighting. Jen has some baggage though. Her father is a recovering alcoholic, and though her mom has moved on and remarried, she often pushes Jen to be the best she can be at her job.

I didn't really like Ginny or Annie much in this book. I think that Schruig could have done something interesting here and focus on the fact that Jen has a job that will cause her to not be there all the time to just hang out with her friends. They put down her job and acted like she was obsessed. And I wanted to shake them. When I got my job in DC after grad school my friends who were still searching, or doing something that was okay, but they were not in love with acted like I was lame for not wanting to go out every night and get drunk. I finally realized I was going to have to think about my career and make sure I made time for my friends, but not to the detriment of everything else.

Jen has two love interests in this one, one is straight up a jerk and the other is okay. I just didn't warm up to him and kind of got annoyed that the character of Kiki kept trying to force them together. I already said the whole I love you thing was odd as hell when it came out. They had been on zero dates at this point.

The writing was good, and the book moves at a fairly even pace. I think that we should have been given some more moments with both love interests and also have Jen have more dialogue with Ginny and Annie.

The ending was a HEA for Ginny and a HFN for Jen.

Nice romance with a little (unnecessary) drama and HEA. Only thing I didn't like:
The "L" word. It was waaaay too early said. Please, fictional people, get to know each other before you start saying it!

Oh, and the drama
with the wrong wedding date
was too constructed. It just felt off.

And I didn't really understand why Jen had to work herself to shreds for her best friend, because said friend couldn't do any appointment regarding her wedding alone?
Not sure about American girls but here around women are indeed capable of organizing flowers, a DJ or even a photographer...so I couldn't understand, why Jen's loving BFFs were less than understanding that she had to work hard for her paying job and couldn't dedicate much of her time for her friends wedding (unpaid).
It's a bit as if you have a lawyer or a doctor for a friend and expect them to do everything for you for free. Not really fair if you ask me.

Why is it that we girls are always forced to choose between love and career? Jen Campbell thinks she has made the right decision, sacrificing her own romance for the career of her dreams: planning weddings. NoLimits, a premiere event planning firm in Detroit, Jen is pushing for the top. Her hopes look like they'll become reality when she lands a supporting role planning a gala wedding week for local mogul, David Barker's pampered daughter, Kiki. Though she is undercut for the lead role by smarmy Jason Richardson, this is still her chance. Determined to make her name known, she pulls out all the stops.
A foil to her hectic career is her beloved, peaceful home-life, living with her two best friends, Ginny and Annie and Danny, Ginny's little boy. The highlight of her day is time spent at home with her friends, which is an enormous conflict with her career goals.
To make things even more hectic, Ginny asks Jen to plan her wedding at the same time as the career-making Barker wedding. Can Jen have a career and a life? Will she end up with Matt, the groom's hot brother, will she find common ground with the self-centered and douchetastic Jason, or will she end up alone? Will she even survive?
I have to admit my dark secret, that I love those shows where brides pick out dresses. I even used to watch the wedding story shows with every detail of weddings, but I watched too many and burned myself out on them. Still, I have an incurable love for all the girly, frilly, fabulous fun! This book was all that and an Amsale dress. Though it was a second in a series, there was nothing preventing me from enjoying the full story without having read the previous book. All the characters were fun and interesting. The plot never lagged and the girly excitement never fell flat. I felt the friend bond between Jen and her friends. I ground my teeth at Jason as he dumped all the work on poor Jen and took all the credit. I worried for Jen as she endured the piles of work and problems, screwed up with everyone even though it wasn't her fault, and fretted over Matt and his strange standoffishness. The ending was the best! But I won't spoil the surprise…. I do have to issue a warning for intense girliness, frills, foo-foos and drama. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the boutique! Rachel Schurig has written a thoroughly fun and enjoyable story of love, marriage, weddings, girl power, and all the headaches and drama that come with them.

Another amazing book by Rachel Schurig. In this book we see things from Jen's view. This book follows Jen as she makes a potentially huge career choice, the up and downs of juggling a busy career and family/friends but also there is 3 differs love stories in this book which I actually loved! Although there were 3 love stories within this story it didn't feel like the over shadowed the main story line and even better it wasn't to lovey dovey to the point I would get annoyed. Jen is shown as a strong independent woman in this book which I love because it shows girls you can do thing on your own and you don't need a man to save you... even if MR perfect comes along you can still be independent. I fell in love with Kiki and Matt who are 2 new charters! Kiki is this massive bundle of energy and happiness, I just need her in my life! And Matt is this type man's man. You expect him to be a right jerk but I really started to like him the more the story went on! I managed to read this book in 2 night shifts at work! I was glued to it. 100% just as good as "Three girls and a baby" just not as funny but I felt to much humor in this book would have ruined it! AMAZING READ!!

I loved this book!!! The characters in this book was fabulous (especially Kiki!). It was a very good. enjoyable, happy read. A few gramatical errors but it didn't take away from how good this book was. Can't wait to read the next one.

PS: I think I'm slightly in love with Matt :-)

I read this book as part of Three Girls: the Complete Trilogy.

This book has a lighter tone than the first one, but I enjoyed it just as much. Jen, the events planner, lands a job doing a wedding for the daughter (Kiki) of a local millionaire. This is the kind of career-making event Jen has been dreaming about. I thought I would hate Kiki at first, but she quickly grew on me. She was funny and sweet and I enjoyed her rapport with Jen.

There is a (minor) romantic triangle with Jen, Jason (her co-worker) and Matt (the groom's brother). But I would say the romance is secondary in the story. The story mostly revolves around Jen juggling her work and planning Ginny and Josh's wedding. There is some major conflict/drama with Ginny's wedding, and I liked the way it was resolved.

My only gripe with this book is the "I love yous" that were said near the end of the book. Way too soon! Not enough relationship development for that to happen.

Now on to Annie's story.

I LOVED this book! I actually think it was even better than the first in the series! After thoroughly enjoying 'Three Girls and a Baby', I decided to try the second book, but for some reason I didn't expect it to be quite as good. Boy, was I wrong! I was completely hooked from the very beginning, using this book as my favourite pastime (and procrastination method) for the 4 days it took to devour it. Following Jen this time as she plans two important weddings rather than Ginny was great as it brought a new angle to the series, and I now can't wait to read the third book and follow Annie on her big break!

AHHHHHHH Rachel Schurig please read your own books or pay a good proof reader, On 3 Occasions in this book you wrote the wrong name, Instead of writing Ginny you was writing Jen!!!! I was having to re-read the paragraph to make sure i was reading it right.
However that said it was an enjoyable pleasant read and I will be reading book 3.

Book 2 of the “three girls” series. This one is just as good as the first. I loved getting to know the main character, she was interesting and easy to love. Same goes for the main guy.

Loving the series, can’t wait to read book 3, Annie’s story. If it’s as good as Jen and Ginny’s I’ll be one happy reader!

Having read the first book which I LOVED I bought this one. It was another fun and quick read. I took my own advice and read it on holiday. I love the theme of friendship and work, after all we all work and it is a big source of pressure and we all have friends. I'd rate the first book 4.5, and this one a 4. I read it in a day.

I've noticed other readers didn't understand Ginny and Josh's anger but I thought it was completely understandable. Jen said she'd take control as it's something she does professionally, something she enjoys and it's for her best friend but man she messed up big with the dates. Imagine your best friend not knowing the week or day your getting married! You'd be fuming. Saying this as the book was written in Jen's POV it was easy to feel sorry for her. She was written to be a amiable character.

I did not understand how Matt and Jen said I love you when they'd be alone twice? The pace was good but for me this was too quick!! I would have been happy if the author had him confess his love and then instead of resiplicating his words it was left with her kissing him back (expressing her feelings without saying the L word.)

I just didn't feel the "love" between the main characters. Not enough interaction for a solid relationship.

I loved this book! I think I’d love any book by Rachel Schurig though, as she’s quickly become a chick-lit author fave of mine. I love the three main characters in the ‘Three Girls’ books and I really enjoyed the wedding planning in this and seeing the girls gradually meet their partners. I can’t really fault these books, and so if you’re after a nice chilled holiday read, or something that you can escape into without much concentration, this is the series for you.

I had so enjoyed reading "Three Girls and a Baby" by this author that I didn't have to think twice about picking up another book by her.

This book is about Jen, who we met in Three Girls and a Baby as one of Ginny's best friends and roommates. In this book Ginny and Josh get engaged. Jen is an event planner who is trying to work her way up in her company - and she jumps at the opportunity to work with a senior executive on the wedding of a billionaire's daughter. That wedding and Ginny's wedding are incredibly close together, but Jen is sure she can pull both off. But as the stress and pressure increase, Jen has to make a choice between furthering her career and her friends.

I liked the book but I didn't love it - I had a hard time connecting to Jen in the beginning, and I felt like her character didn't have as much meat as Ginny did. I also felt that the romantic interest (Matt) in the book went back and forth too much, and it annoyed me. Why is Matt mad now? Who knows - there is always some dumb reason that is never talked about until catastrophe strikes.

I liked Kiki (the billionaire's daughter)as a character - she brightened things up and also brought that sense of unlimited opportunity - being a billionaire's daughter and all. And her fiancee is amusing in his barely-there, full-fledged support role.

So a cute book but I didn't feel it had quite the depth that Three Girls and a Baby had.

In the second installment of the Three Girls series, the spotlight is on Jen. Of Jen, Ginny, and Annie, Jen is the most Type A and loves to plan things. Since she's an event planner, it's a good thing. When Jen is asked to assist on the wedding of socialite Kiki Barber, it could mean huge things for her career and she's determined to help throw the wedding of the year. She's also determined to organize Ginny's wedding to Josh. Unfortunately, Jen is working herself into the ground and despite her go-getter nature, things don't go as planned. Will her career dreams be shattered? Will her two best friends have her back or will she lose them too? And what's up with the gorgeous best man sending her mixed messages?

I became a huge fan of Schurig after reading Three Girls and a Baby. I love her writing style and her characters were so much fun and so real. I loved Ginny so much and feared that I wouldn't like Part 2 as much. I was wrong. I absolutely loved this book. And call me fickle, but I think I might like Jen even more than Ginny! The romance in this one was cute and although I think the relationship conflict could have been stronger, I devoured this book and highly recommend.

Who doesn’t love a good wedding? Growing up I always wanted a fancy expensive wedding. The dress shopping, picking out flowers, choosing themes, hundreds of guests, 5 star food. Well, my wedding was not quite like that because we were young and buying a house.(Priorities).

This book though. *sigh* we are following Jen now. She’s an event planner, and she’s planning one of the biggest weddings of the season.
I sucked up all these details through my mental twisty straw. Loved loved loved!!!! I felt like I got to have my big fancy wedding after all. There is a new character introduced, the bride herself. She’s hysterical, and I fell in love with her.

Through all this stress of planning the wedding, the super attractive best man is moody and insufferable. Sparks be flying yo!
Again, the girls and their friendships shine through. I adored seeing things from Jens point of view, and she’s not quite as put together as you originally think from book one.

Could not put this down so good. I have read Three girls and a baby, and In search of a love story. These are all great.

This book carries on with the friendship of Jen, Ginny and Annie from Three girls and a baby.

Jen is an events planner and she has a high profile customers daughter's wedding to plan. This could further career. Then one of her best friends Ginny gets engaged and Jen promises to plan her day as well.

With the wedding dates so close together she is sure she can pull it off. What could go wrong!!!!!

Reading this book took me back to my wedding day and the organizing that was involved.

If you love chick lit books then this and all of Rachel Schurig books are a MUST read.

I really liked this book. As with the first book, some times the main character really made me mad, but I could see how someone so driven would create the same circumstances. I've had those same moments. A lot of the book was tense for me because I knew what the issue was and knew it was going to royally screw things up. I spent a lot of time waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then had a fabulous time finding out the solution when it finally did. As soon as I finished, I had to download the third book to find out what was going to happen next!

Note: If you have not read the first book, you definitely want to start there. This is very much a continuous story, and you will miss a ton if you don't.

Another hit in the "Three Girls" series! This time, the Schurig, is writing from Jen's perspective. Jen is a very hard-working event planner. Although Jason, Jen's arrogant co-worker has just been given a fantastic promotion at work, Jen has been asked to set aside all of her other events that she is currently working on, to be Jason's assistant on the Barker wedding. We learn quickly though, that Jen is really running the show and Jason is looking to take all of the credit for Jen's hard work. Through all this, Jen has also accepted the task of planning Ginny and Josh's wedding all while trying to navigate her newly developed feelings for Matt, the handsome best man from the Barker wedding. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and am looking forward to reading about Annie next!

If you love wedding rom-coms, then you will love this book! It is a really fast read. This is the second book in the series but I decided to read this one first. I'm sure reading the first book first would provide a little more depth to some of the characters but I didn't find like I was missing major plot points by not reading the first book. The author did a great job and providing background on what was probably covered in that first book.

I would have given it 5 stars but I would have liked to have a little more development in the relationships between Jen and Matt and between Jen and Jason.

Whilst this book follows the usual formula of a chick-lit, romance story, it does it in a fun and light-hearted way that makes you want to keep reading.

I was concerned at first - having read 'Three Girls and a Baby' - that I wouldn't like reading the point of view of a secondary character from that book. However, it was great - nothing to worry about! Rachel Schurig writes about Jen Campbell in an equally eloquent and fun way that she did about Ginny, whilst still making it clear that they were different characters, with different backgrounds, personalities and attitudes.

A great, easy, read that I would highly recommend - even if it was a little unbelievable at times!

It was a quick, fun, mindless read. I enjoyed reading about the girls in this series and love how each of the books take on the voice of one of the girls. I *hated* the use of "super", "totally" and "like" that Kiki's character tends to use every time she speaks. I have to admit, it was hard to look past that and keep chugging along, but I did and it was great. For that reason, I did not like it as well as the first book or the third. I think the author would not have had trouble relaying how ditsy Kiki was had she left out those words in the dialogue.

Although this book had the same characters as the first, this time focusing on Jen, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. This was mainly due to the fact that a lot of the story lines were predictable and ever so slightly heavy on the cheese. That aside, it was grew to read about the excitement of planning a wedding, an event I can particularly relate to at the moment as I'm planning my own.

Not a bad little read, so it get 3.5 stars from me!
