When Bree Spencer fell in love with Sebastian Templeton, her life changed forever – and now she’s beginning to realise just how much. Caught between the demands of two, often contrary, worlds and the guidance of a most reluctant mentor, life as a fledgling is far more complicated than she ever could have imagined.
K.C. King's love affair with books began with Charlotte's Web when she was eight. A true Aquarian, she's a dreamer whose John Grisham obsession resulted in her choice to study linguistics and law. When she's not writing, travelling, or enjoying cappuccinos in kangaroo cups, you'll probably find her in her own world: Somewhere between Metropolis and Austen's 19th Century England.
I really thought there was no way this book was going to be just as good as Anomaly, I was right… It was better.
Calm down, I know, how can it be better??? I loved the last one how can this one be even better?
First there was no annoying upper crust dialog. Secondly I was never confused in this one as to what was going on with so and so’s balance, mantle, or order. If you read the first you know what I am talking about. If you didn’t read the first… well…. Um… why not? It’s only $.99 and now you have no idea what I am talking about. Do you? See that’s just silly.
K.C. King manages to seamlessly pull you back into the guardian world and also drops a few bombs on you when you get there.
Oh great now I have that horrible song from the 90’s with Shaquille O'Neal rapping about dropping bombs in my head!
Now where was I? Ok so I won’t go into the details of the book because I don’t want to ruin anything about Book 1 for you in case you have not read that. Plus there is what I said before about just not being smart enough to explain how this whole new world works in King’s Tri-Realms (in my review for book 1).
I cannot wait for book 3 and also know now that King is staying on my permanent to-read author list.
Thanks again to King for taking me on quite an amazing journey!
This book it's the second of the Tri Realms Saga, by K.C. King.
The story of the first one was incredible and with this one, it only gets better.
We continue discovering new parts of Bree. New branches on her history and we get the answer for many question that I've been having in the first book. I understand so much about the guardians and the branches that keep the story believable.
Alaik is the character that I felt the need to follow on this book. He just makes me wanna punch him on the face and by the end of the book I didn't know if I want to keep hurting him or just huge him and tell him that everything it's going to be alright (my sister wants to do more than hugging XD)
There's just one thing that I didn't feel right about this book. Sebastian is left apart. He's not the main character of this book, like the first one. I'm still deeply and madly in love with him (lucky me! my boyfriend won't read this). But in this book we just see him thru Bree and there isn't many parts for Bree and Bastian to be alone, to be a couple. There isn't many details. I know this book is about Bree, not Bastian, but he just falls flat for me. I need more of Bastian.
I'm in love with this series and I can't wait for the next book!
I have two major problems with this book. First, it ended all too soon for my liking. Secondly, the final installment in the saga is not yet available.
I have always been one to devour books, some with fervor, others with apathy and a need to be done with it. Either way, I always complete the task at hand, to escape into another realm and hopefully take some of it back to reality with me as I reemerge into this funny thing we call life. Fledgling is most definitely high in the former category. Many sophomore novels (especially in a series) are lackluster, spend far too much time rehashing the plot line of the former installment, and well...wanting. I assure you this is not the case with King or her ability to transcend the typical.
I wasn’t a fan of the first book in this series, and the only thing I liked about this one was that it was short. There wasn’t anything awful about this book, it just wasn’t for me. It’s like opening a bag of Revels and finding out that they’re all coffee flavour – that’s the exact same look I get on my face when I read a book in this series. I find all weird words they use about guardians and lineage and fledgelings and **yawn** just irritating, and it goes in one ear and comes right back out the other. I don’t even find the romance interesting! The whole thing just makes me want to go eat chocolate cake instead. 3 out of 10
I applaud how well these books were written. Too many books in this genre are so horribly verbally diluted, which is completely opposite of this series. Sooooo refreshing! I had to actually think with this series in order to absorb all the creativity of this author's world and how it worked.
Very good. Again it was beautifully written. The story goes deeper with lots of important information and revelations. I really love Bree and Sebastian together. I hope it stays that way. I'll never trust Alaik, he's too shady. Can't wait to see what the next books holds.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bree’s life transforms after falling for Sebastian, and now she’s navigating the complex and dangerous new world of being a fledgling guardian. Guided by an unwilling mentor, Bree faces greater challenges and darker forces as her fledgling powers awaken.
I really did enjoy this book. Its an easy, short read and was pretty solid throughout the whole thing. I thought the author did a much better job at balancing a large vocabulary with necessity and found her writing felt much less forced. I also found that this book did a better job with using descriptions as needed versus pages and pages of confusing text. The story left you wondering what would happen and lead me to already purchase book 3. Looking forward to seeing how this story ends.
I hate to say it but I found myself skipping through numerous parts of this book just to see if it would get better, however the very end turned it around just slightly for me and I will read the final book more then likely just to see how this story will conclude.
I didn't like this book quite as much as the first, but I did like getting to learn more about Sebastian and the world that was created/explained in the first book, but not thoroughly understood.
