Wird Shining Glory den Sieg stehlen?

Cindy träumt davon, dass Glory das Breeder’s Cup Classic gewinnt. Nichts hat sie sich bisher sehnlicher gewünscht. Mit einem Sieg würde er zu einer Legende werden wie sein berühmter Großvater Just Victory. Cindy bereitet Glory seit Monaten auf dieses Rennen vor. Basically Cindy’s a brat for 98% of the book and only cares about winning no matter what, plus we get the stupid Townsends causing problems. Hurray.

The title and cover are completely misleading. That's nothing new for the Thoroughbred series, but here it was particularly egregious. The scene on the cover never happens. If that's supposed to be Shining, she's depicted in the wrong color. Exercise riders wear jockey helmets, not basic hard hats as pictured here.

Glory and Shining never wind up competing against each other, so not much of a rivalry there.

This book was so stupid, it was depressing. You could see the solution to the "problem" a mile away.

Want to read the Thoroughbred series? Don't. It's not worth the bother. Stop at Wonder's Sister.

Other horses in this book include Storm, Townsend Princess, the intriguingly named Secret Silence, Champion, Mr. Wonderful, and Limitless Time. There's another Whitebrook horse called Crimean Summer that just vanishes from the series.

Childhood favourite series (haven't read in a long time) giving all four stars unless it was a favourite as a child.

I really like this book. Cindy could not stand the suspense of waiting for Samantha to decide whether she was going to enter Shining in the Distaff or the Classic. I almost hoped that they would have run against each other. But in the end, Glory was as amazing as ever and Shining was too!

A great series for tweens that love horses and/or are interested in horseback riding or racing. Teaches about the struggles of working with animals and the benefits.
