Sylvan Mist

Rate this book
Coira O'Donnell refuses to acknowledge the Scotsman haunting her. Why should she? She carries no magic and she's newly engaged. Well aware of the mysterious tie between the medieval MacLomains and her mother's clan, the Brouns, Coira will have no part of it. She much prefers a proper English gentleman to a barbarian living six hundred years in the past. However, as one whirlwind day will prove, she has little choice in the matter.Chieftain William MacLomain did not call her back, yet she arrives. Coira is not the woman meant for him. Or is she? Her arrival marks the start of a highland war unlike any Scotland has witnessed before, one born of magic. Soon, he finds himself in a tangled web of duty, loyalty and unexpected love. A love so unattainable and powerful it may cost him the war; and his heart. This novel contains strong sexual content and is recommended for a mature audience."If you're looking for that great summer beach read that will take your mind off all your worries this one is for you. If you love the time travel romances of Lynn Kurland, this one equals any of hers. "   ~Long and Short Reviews The King's Druidess is the lead-in tale to The MacLomain Series. While The King's Druidess is a short Celtic story, Fate's Monolith (The MacLomain Series- Book 1), Destiny's Denial (The MacLomain Series- Book 2) and Sylvan Mist (The MacLomain Series- Book 3) are full length novels. In memory of Sky's beloved father, marketing manager and best friend, all will continue to remain at a reasonable price. He would have expected nothing less."I have never read any of Sky Purington's books before, but after reading "Sylvan Mist", I can't wait to read more. It is a great book, mixing magic with history and time travel with romance, all following a family line through time. I loved the storyline and the great characters."  ~Night Owl ReviewsPlease This is a re-launch of titles published years ago. The stories have been revised and tightened. After reading the Viking Ancestors trilogy by this author, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I wanted to go back to the beginning of the MacLomain series and work my way forward to the Vikings. I managed to get through the first two books in this series but the quality of the writing and the story telling was nowhere near as good as the later books. This third in the series I just couldn't get into no matter how hard I tried. Do I try the next trilogy of the MacLomains now or just jump to the second of the Vikings? I'm thinking the Vikings.

This is the last of the series, but it is just as exciting and dramatic as all the other books from this author.
In parts, your heart is in your mouth, in others your feeling devastated for a character's loss and again there is joy and elation.
Ms Purington, I salute your craftsmanship in writing a truly unique and intriguing tale.

This is the third book in this trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. William has been granted the honor of being the new chieftain in his clan, and a powerful wizard to help look after them. , He is a Mac Lomain, and aware of the rings that tie his clan to the Brouns . Three rings that were formed by magic brings a lass from the future, back into the past to find her true love. The ring will shine the brilliance of the man's eyes. William has not thought to call forth a Broun, but two show up, and must be protected. ,one wears the ring of love, the other a regular diamond. This story had it all, and more. I loved the ending. I loved the book. Coria, and Annie Mc Donnell are in danger from the first moment they arrive in medieval Scotland, and nothing is as it should be. William is sure he is to love the wrong girl, and she is sure she hates Scotland, and is engaged already. The banter between all the characters is funny, and endearing. The author took the time to wrap up this period of the Mac Lomain, and the Broun clan. There is more to come. The next generation, and one even after that. I love her writing style, and each generation gives off a piece of the puzzle. It all leaves you wanting more. There is some talk of magic from the old religion in this book, as well as a few steamy scenes. We are talking Highlanders after all, and their myths and legends. This series is when Christianity has surfaced and changes in beliefs are taking place.

GENRE: Time travel; Witch; Wizards; Historical Romance; Dublin Ireland/Scotland.

SETTING: 19th century Salem, NH; 12th century Scotland; 21st century

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTERS: Coira is Willful; a Hellcat; a Temperamental prude; a frustrating Challenge. A complete planner with no spontaneity.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: William is one of four MacLomain wizards; a clan chieftain; Sensual brogue; Humorous side; can turn you against “yourself”; Sarcastic; a perfect Gentleman.

SYNOPSIS: Before announcing that she is to be wed, Coira ends up in a country that she despises, 12th century Scotland. Her sister Annie cannot wait to meet the family.

SEXUAL EXPLICITNESS: (7) breasts; (5) arousal; (2) nipples (2) shaft; I DO NOT use profanity but (1) son of a bitch.

WHAT I LIKED: The black horse gave Coira a ride for her money every time.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: The quote, “I am the only child that carries no magic” is annoying. The readers get it so stop beating a dead horse. AND Difficult to keep up with the who and the what did they do?

I give this book (4) stars because the many character names and magical events were overwhelming. The MacLomains? The Cochrans? The Brouns? The O’Donnells? My head is spinning. But, that is okay. because I love this book and I'm sticking with the series.

Last in the series and I have the same complaint. Good story...good climax...and then the resolution takes FOREVER!!!! The resolution was over 50 pages long. I was starting to think that the book would never end...it would just keep going and going and going...and you get the picture. There was also too much time jumping. The main character started out in the 1800s, then in the 1100, then in current times, back to 1100s, to 1800s and once more to the 1100s. Then, on top of all the time jumps; she couldn't stay in the same place...New Hampshire...Scotland...Ireland. I barely knew what time or place the main character was in any given moment.

Glad I'd read the other books in the series before this one, as I think it may have been too cofusing to link the rleationships otherwise.
