This series cuts me in half. It's really good on some parts, others not so much.

I've wanted to give a review since the third book but since I've reached this book I thought what the heck, let me just start from here and see if i can sum it up from the first book up to this one:

Schuyler/Jack - They're relationship is pretty annoying.

It's always the same. Hot guy never notices girl. Girl falls maddeningly in love with secretive, brooding boy the very first time they *flirt*. I could just see where this was going. Did I forget to mention there's a love triangle/ quadrilateral??!! :O

Yes! boys and girls! Schuyler has a HUMAN best friend who, like always is a boy who's obssessed with her but doesn't want to make a move because of the 'friendship'. People, grow some freakin' balls.
Sure, it's easier said than done, confessing you love your best friend but that's why it's a BOOK and not real life. You can do whatever the hell you want and STILL make it believable.

Anyways, Jack has a bond with his twin sister Mimi. While they're not really related, didn't make it any less twincestually creepy. Eww.

So it's Oliver->Schuyler->Jack-><-Mimi. If that makes any sense.

You're telling me he's going to be with and make a girl who was like an ant on the sidewalk to him, his bondmate??? :|

Yeah, centuries old bonds don't matter in this story. Jack and Schuyler fall in love and bond after what TWO years of knowing each other?

Which leads me astray to mention while that 'sounds'like the ideal time to marry or bond with ANYONE, it's complete bull. Time in this story is about as orderly as a starved pack of rats [forgive the terrible analogy]. For example, she'll go to see someone or go to Dr. Pat [the blue blood doctor] and spend HOURS waiting.

I don't know what the hell that is, but when 'I' go to the doctor or anywhere else, at most I wait for an hour and a half. All these stuff and killings are taking place and then the story goes: months later, days later, hours later and you're like WTF?

Time is screwed up in this story. Obviously you're not going to take each chapter day by day by day... But when her grandfather died and the next book started, you're like: so ummm, ya you know...anyone wanna fill me in on the mysterious year that happened after that, just before the story begins? I mean yeah, no need to kill us with a boring tale but a little something before the big party scene involving the European Coven would be nice :|

Schuyler/Oliver - Why do humans always have to be the weak subservient race in the supernatural world. I don't mean to brag or anything. But I'm pretty badass ;D

Oliver is practically her stepping stool throughout the entire story. And guess what, by this book, we see he's practically okay with the role of doormat.

Friendships aren't easy to navigate, believe me. Especially when love is involved but would it kill the authors to at least give the underdog boys a backbone?

Oliver practically took all of Schuyler's rejections and usings sitting down and only stood up for himself once or twice in failed attempts cause he still loves her. I don't know what's next for him in Paradise Lost since Jack is out of the way temporarily and Oliver's going with Schuyler on her next 'trip of destiny' but I hope his happy ending is there. And if he dies, especially if he dies protecting Schuyler, so God help me I shall light something on fire.

Jack/Mimi - Mimi is a bitch. And not the good, thank God there's a real person in this story, kind of bitch.

She's obssessed with her twin Jack and pretty much hates Schuyler for stealing him away.

Umm, I don't know about anyone else but it's a stupid notion I've been wondering about for as long as I can rememeber. Why do girls hate other girls for 'stealing' their boyfriends? I'm pretty sure Jack knows what he's doing as does every other guy in the situation. It's not the girl that's the problem [wether she initiated it or not], it's the boy who let it happen. The girl is pretty much doing what she wants to do but if the dude ever really cared about you in the first place, he wouldn't 'cheat'.

End of story. Mimi and Jack were about as good for each other as a canary is for a cat.

Mimi actually grew a heart while searching for Jordan in Misguided Angel. Itwas nice to see that she wasn't just a power-hungry blonde bimbo but someone who cared about what happened to her Coven and tried to protect and maintain it even with the odds stacked against her. She even accepted eventually that Jack was a douchebag for going with her to the second bonding ceremony and then leaving her AGAIN for Schuyler [how many hints can you overlook?].

The only annoying thing I couldn't understand was how quickly she 'fell in love' with Kingsley. Give me a break. The author just created Kingsley as a subplot mystery who could easily replace Jack for Mimi without it looking too predictable or too bad. Wrong. We're not dumb. Or at least I know I'm not.

Mimi/Kingsley - While their love affair was completely fabricated, it was a breath of fresh air. Kingsley brought some sex and life to this book! Like I said, I saw a different side of Mimi to this book. Someone who would actually sacrifice everything to be with the one they loved and when you see the sacrifice she did make and how it saved her relationship with Kingsley and the sacrifice she didn't make becuase she actually has a beating heart beneath her frigid exterior, it'll make it worth reading- I mean cringing through the book.

All of it was PREDICTABLE as the entire Blue Bloods books are, but it was still sweet nonetheless.

Oliver/Mimi - People who hate together. Stay together. Ever notice how people who initially hate each other in books always end up together or become best friends?

When I hate someone, it aint pretty and I certainly don't follow them to hell to rescue their beloved, at least without doing my research.

They weren't exactly best friends, but they were friends nonetheless and this isn't really much of a spolier but it was a shock to me: Oliver became Mimi's conduit.Ugh.

After reading this you'll think twice about that roadtrip your friend wanted to take you on.

Bliss- Pretty much nonexistent after she escapes Lucifer taking her over.I thought she had died at Jack and Mimi's failed bonding ceremony. But whatever, because guess what she's going on a life-changing journey to find werewolves! :D Ohmigod, ohmigod, ohmigod!!!

No.

Vampires check.
Teenage Angst check.
Werewolves CHECK.
Too much unrequited love CHECK.
Trolls check.
Demons, angels and who could forget: Nephilim check.

I think she changed her mind about the creature she wanted to portray every few books. I hate seeing so many creatures popping up in paranormal romances to try and keep a dead story alive and a plot going. Just when the two people are fine some new creature/person is introduced to hunt them down. Stick to the fucking storyline. I don't know what's with the new trilogy/saga trend. It won't kill you to take the time to write ONE, nice book. No sequel needed if you know you're just going to butcher it. Adding all these creatures and theories and subplots so late into a series isn't interesting or mysterious. It makes for a fucking annoying read, because I know nothing about these new people except for the fact that they're pissing me off.

Anyways when I thought she died in that book, I was pretty happy to be honest, I thought finally someone with enough balls to kill a main character. And lucky for me, an annoying one. But alas! it was not so. Bleh.

Overall this book had it's highs and lows:

Highs:

~Jack and Scuyler finally sort of get over themselves, and their incessant dialogues about forbidden love and how they must fight for each other and never let him/her go...Double eww.

~The battle scene with Mimi and Jack was alright, the ending of it however- LAME. Damn I had hoped someone would die. That's not even a spoiler becuase if you thought Melissa De La Cruz was going to kill Jack/Mimi: You're stupid.

I wasn't lying when I said this book and every other was predictable. I don't get excited when tv shows or books get all antsy when one of the main protagonists is in a battle scene to the death or whatever. They CAN'T freaking kill the main character because they need them to fulfill their stupid plots and even if they did [highly unlikely] no one would read or watch it ever again.

~Mimi going to Hell with Oliver was way more interesting than what Schuyler and Jack or anyone else was doing.

~Dehua and Deming Chen along with Sam and Ted Lennox. - The superhero twin force duo combo pack team was alright. And yes, they ended up liking each other. Amazingly original and not forseen right?

They were a bit distracting and I was wondering why they were hunting Nephilim in the first place since they're Coven was at war but hey, when you're race is in danger of dying out you go out amongst dangerous creatures and hunt them down in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, they won't kill you.

When they though Schuyler was Nephilim and captured her and Jack by mistake, almost killing them, my heart swelled with hope. But like I said, Schuyler won't die because that's just how the Laws of Books work. But I did feel better when one of the superhero twin force duo combo pack team called Schuyler an Abomination and somewhere along the way, I can't remember who, referred to her mother as a slut who got pregnant too many times :D #Winning.

~Mimi and Kingsley. When Mimi finally found Kingsley, he was annoying at first but you end up seeing why and you can kind of understand and relate. The scenes and love between the two of them were alright and actually nice considering the failed relationships of their fellow book characters. It was a bit more raw and intense.

Lows:

~Schuyler almost dying. There was this moment of utter joy and I watched as it was snatched away from my greedy clutches. Well a girl can dream.

~Hell didn't seem all that bad from Mimi's description. Where was the fire and brimstone and eternal misery and torture? The only bad thing was that you 'could' end up stuck with an annoying siren, everything would never be just right like the air was either too hot or too cold, you could drive through the desert forever with only shit-knows-who's music to listen to, you could end up having nothing to do all day but eat and watch tv and sin without a care in the world becuase hey, you're already in hell right? or you could end up in a dirty city with too many people rubbing against you.
Oh, or you could just get eaten by the Trolls. That works too.

~The endless stream of useless/unknown/unwanted characters.

There were so many additions character-wise that I was confused and beyond caring. Anything or anyone that I didn't understand, oh well. I just read through the confusion and hoped for the best.

~Allegra's story. Bang my head against a wall much. Useless. I didn't even see how it connected to the story really. And her relationship with Schuyler's dad: Not the amazing heartfelt love story worth risking a bond for the first couple of books seem to portray. But hey, neither was Schuyler and Jack's relationship.

I just wanted to skip these parts because she was a dick for letting Charles, fool, use and manipulate her.

I liked Allegra fine before she went off with just two dumb cryptic messages for Schuyler and Bliss and then her story pissed me off. It's like:

Allegra: Charles is my best friend.
Charles: I'm keeping a secret and buying my familiars/mistress people overly-expensive things and showering them with more attention but I still love you Allegra.
Allegra: I love you Charles, you'd never hurt me. I can't believe I'm betraying you for a HUMAN! [God forbid she loves someone that wasn't from Heaven or a Blue Blood]
Charles: Ugh, but he's human! Bond with me my love or I shall die! *Cue Angst*
Allegra: You're keeping secrets about my past and you lied about the dead girl I found the other day but hey, I love you let's get hitched.

And it went on and on and on.

Allegra: I shouldn't do this but I love human boy too much. I must be around him or I shall perish in the depths of my love!
Stephen Chase: Oh Allegra why did you go away from me? I still love you so!
Allegra: But Charles is my betrothed, I cannot leave him *runs away*
Stephen: Run away from your bonding with me for I know what you are and yes I still want to be your life-size happy meal!
Allegra: Yes my love, I shall leave Charles for you.

After taking time out of my life to write this long-ass review in the hopes of saving millions of other from my doomed fate of a half-ass book, I'm beginning to realize I never did really like the books all that much. I just read them mostly out of obligation. I don't like starting something and stopping halfway through. I'd rather just bear with it, cause really I'm just a harsh critic, the book isn't THAT terrible. But, I can't start a series and not finish it.

I watch a movie and realize it's not as enthralling as I had hoped: Twilight. But I continue watching the sequels out of obligation.

*The Twilight Saga books were pretty good, but the movies ruined it for people who may have liked it had they read the books*

So I pray, don't let me stop you from reading this book or the entire Blue Bloods series just don't expect an amazing read. It's up to you how you feel about it. But I, having been an avid bookreader since the age of 3, have high expectations.

This was action packed! I loved this book but will admit I spent so much of it annoyed beyond belief at Mimi. Seriously could she have been any worse during most of this book?! Boy, her redemption was dramatic though! That was a pretty good battle between Abbadon & Azrael and really set up one hell of a series finale for next book.

My quick and simple overall: next book time! Guess it is time to go Hell for it!

Oh my God, I didn't see this coming! Engrossing, heart pounding, jaw-dropping secret spilling, action-packed and… finally! Finally, connection!!! It all makes sense now, except what happened in Florence?
We now know what sky is… her connection to the gate of promise… But, how did Allegra and Luci ahh… make Bliss??? Again, WTF happened in Florence! Melissa de la Cruz gave this book her best! And… I approve!
Blueblood series is a must read and the journey is just beginning, (at least that’s my opinion!!!) Skyler and Jack's tale was heart wrenching, watching both Sky and jack leave their lives one day at a time… wondering if this moment is their very last was mind -numbing yet blissful.
Mimi and Kingsley's reunion feels wonderful and hopeful. As for Oliver, I hope he finds his happiness and Michael and Allegra??? What's next for them? I honestly do not know where this story is going the puzzles are in place and the ripple effect has begun, but I am glad! It was a great read! It would be a long wait until… The gates of Paradise, expected to be published 2013… because this is one series, I hate to see reach its conclusion! But as they say, “all good things must come to an end”. Wicked cliffhanger! Loved it!
5 stars and bravo!

Is it just me or do these books feel like they're dragging on now. The first three books were like blam, blam, blam and then it was like, schuuurch! I have been reading them because I try to be loyal, but this one I just can't. I cannot soldier through. I have only read maybe two pages and I just can't. Where's the tension. Schuyler, in my opinion was never a great heroine, she had her moments but the secondary characters were who kept me reading and then it just got so tedious, like poor Oliver and poor Mimi and poor Jack and poor Bliss and just sob sob sob. Some authors can handle the pressure of more books, but not this one, it's like she has a main story but her publishers said it was too short and so she filled it with fluff. Bah on fluff, give me a good hard story. Where have all the good paranormal heroines gone. I know, they're following the heros with their tongues hung out waiting to be saved.

Maybe I will read this eventually but not now. Now I just want to forget how disapppointed I am in a series that I used to love.

Whoa.
Just.. whoa.
So, Lost in Time takes after Jack-s and Schuyler’s bonding.
Now they’ve got to wake up and do what they planned to do all along, to stay true to their duty.
Meanwhile, Mimi decides she cares more about having her love back with her than taking revenge on her betraying twin.
So she sets off for Hell, accompanied by Oliver.
Like Bloody Valentine, we don’t have Bliss’s POV anymore. I wonder what she’s doing, how’s her mission doing. But anyway.
This book is all fighting and adventure, so there’s really not much to say.
I love when Jack gets all worked up when someone dares touch one of Schuyler’s hair haha. He’s so protective and cute.
But I have to say the most amazing scene of the book, sorry Schuyler, was Mimi’s and Kingsley’s.
Now, I’m not getting into the particulars, but for those of you who’ve read it..
You know, when she’s about to leave Hell with Oliver, and they end up in her bedroom? And you know the rest?
I was freaking out.
It was.. the best scene ever in the whole series in my opinion.
I just love Kingsley so, so much.

Anyway, one thing I have to say: It’s not fair that Mimi’s so mad at Jack. I mean, it’s true that he left her, but if nothing had happened to Kingsley, SHE would have been the one leaving, so I guess they’re through. She can’t blame him only because the person he loves is still.. how can I say it? in this realm, and hers is not.
Also, I liked the Divina Commedia atmosphere that de la Cruz put in Hell.
It’s nice to find some good old literature even in paranormal YA. Even if sometimes it’s all screwed up, haha.

One thing wasn’t clear: when I was reading, there was this line: “But look at that hair, those eyes she’s the spitting image of Gabrielle,” the demon protested. – But wasn’t Gabrielle’s hair blond, while Schuyler’s blue-black like Charles? O.o #iwonder
Plus, the book says that it took them a week to finally try to rescue Deming from the demons. And yet, when SHE, Deming, is the center of the scene, she talks about being in the castle for a week. And the castle is in Hell, so time is different. How come it’s a week here and it’s a week there.

Though the ending (as always, Melissa de la Cruz has yet to fail me) was oh-oh.
I wonder how this all will go on.
I can’t wait for the next book.
If you count that at first I didn’t like this series so much, and that I thought the first book had disappointed me, you see how much I’ve changed my opinion.
This series is addicting, interesting, it gets better and better with each book.
I’m glad I didn’t put it down.

My favourite quote:

He was like a shooting star you tried to catch with your hands. She would only get burned.

Also, I liked: When there is nothing but sinful indulgence, sinful indulgence becomes a chore.

Funny quote:

They were standing on a hill, looking down upon a tall city. Tartarus. The capital of Hell. “How strange,” Oliver said. “It looks exactly like New York.” – haha

For starters I only had a little clue on what I was getting into. Which is surprising since this the 6th blue blood book and by which it is evident that I should have been more than just a little clued in on the happenings. But that is the beauty of this series, it is highly unpredictable. You are never sure what to expect and when you do expect something the author again throws something unexpected at you. At one point in this book I even thought that the author is going to pull of a "Breaking Dawn" on me but that conclusion too turned out to be a bit premature. The entire book is divided into three separate story lines. One involved Schuyler and Jack with a group of venators in search of the "Gate of Promise". On the way they have to battle a group of Nephalims and protect innocent maiden being carried of into the underworld as a part of some grand scheme. The second one involves Mimi Force and Oliver as they travel into the underworld to save Kingsley Martin Mimi's long lost love and a former silver blood. The third storyline involves Allegra Van Allen and takes place from where we last left her in "Bloody Valentine". She has moved on and trying to go through with her responsibilities to the coven and enter in to the bond with Charles(Michael the Uncorrupted). But things are not as they seem as Allegra soon finds out there are things far beyond her knowledge out there which might have played a huge role in her immortal life. Things are not bright for the blue blood community as a whole. Covens all around the world have disintegrating with the vampires moving under ground and there is also a very real chance for the next apocalypse. The only hope is Schuyler's quest to find the gate of promise before the corrupted. Fast paced and exciting this blue blood series is entirely nerve racking. As before the author has tried to give detailed description on things like food and clothes but she has considerably toned down these descriptions when compared to her previous ventures. In the end this Blue blood book is highly satisfying and a worthy predecessor to the previous ones.

I have been a loyal follower of the series since reading the first book.

To be honest, this book left me feeling rather ... confused. First off, I'm not a fan of the romantic pairings. I'm not a Jack & Schuyler fan, I'm not a Mimi & Kingsley fan, and I'm definitely not an Allegra & Ben fan. So, the pairings leave much to be desired on my end; however, what I have always enjoyed about this series has been the different characters, as individuals, and also the whole concept of Fallen Angels being the foundation for this vampire saga. VERY, very intriguing and unique.

I will begin by stating that what I liked best was the the idea to incorporate some of the past storyline from the POV of Allegra; however, with that said, I wasn't satisfied with what I got. I feel like this story has been dragging out for far too long now and while I enjoy any interaction shared between Charles and Allegra (I do support a reunion between the two archangels; it's about the only 'union' I support at this point), I'm not exactly sure what their cliffhanger is intended to lead us into. Confirmation about what we already know or most likely have guessed based on information already revealed in previous books?! I mean, for example, it's already been hinted and spelled out to us that Allegra was 'deceived' in her previous life in Florence. She wasn't with Michael, when she thought she was. It's why 'twins' started getting cycled into Blue Blood families together, via. Bloody Valentine, to avoid such a grievous error ever again. This 'deception' ultimately lead to her 'union' with Lucifer and the birth of Bliss. We also know that Lawrence and Charles, during this lifetime, conspired to have the child killed. Furthermore, we know at some point Allegra already found out the truth because she explained parts of this story during her conversation with Bliss in The Van Alen Legacy. In Keys To The Repository, there is evidence of a note written from Lawrence Van Alen and addressed to Allegra, confirming the birth of her other child and then asking her to forgive Michael/Charles, that he only did what was asked of him by Lawrence for the sake of the Blue Bloods and in the best interest of the entire coven. Okay, this may seem harsh and people out there may like Bliss (she's not my favorite but at the same time, I have nothing against her) but um ... where they really wrong?! Bliss, though unwillingly, was being used as a real weapon against them. Blue Bloods died because of her existence. Allegra might be pissed off because it was her child but it doesn't change the fact that this child was a threat to the Blue Blood community.

So, um, what is the big secret to reveal in this story now?! Not much as far as I can tell - maybe just why Michael had his own reasons for being so secretive.

Secondly, both Bloody Valentine and Lost in Time left me feeling very weary of Allegra as a character. As far as I can tell, there is nothing special or forthcoming about her relationship with this human man, Bendix Chase. I found his portrayal rather dull, boring, and his character to be just another 'cookie cutter' version of the 'perfect looking guy' with the 'perfect heart on the inside' because he was nothing but an empty story to tell. He felt bland, and their story forced, like there was no other believable way to set Allegra up with a Red Blood for an interesting storyline. While I read his first introduction in Bloody Valentine, I found it all rather 'eye-roll' worthy to be honest and then his reappearance in this book did little to change my reaction. I know Charles has done some questionable things; however, in the end, I don't think it can be denied that he genuinely loves his bondmate. He's been misguided at times, and in the end it cost him her love, but I only ended up feeling more sorry for him rather than her. So, if the author's intention from the start was for me to relate more to Allegra, the story failed miserably. I only found her to be rather selfish in the long run. Not to mention, cowardly. She abandoned her entire coven on a romantic whim, when it was she who vacated her place in heaven in the first place to help bring her people back to salvation. Michael only followed out of his love for her. C'mon, I know she's encountered some real heartache but so have other Blue Bloods. Some of them even lost their bondmates for good, in death. So for her, when things got too tough, she wanted to 'jump ship' and did just that. Running out on Charles, not even having the common decency to let him know she wouldn't bond with him again?! She left him standing at the altar thinking something horrible could have befallen her, how thoughtless! Willing to let her human familiar die just so they could be together?! I don't care if he consented, it was just plain nonsense and unbelievable to me. Then later on, she presumably refuses to take the red blood ever again because of her own broken heart, lapsing into a coma, with no regard for the safety and welfare of her daughter, Schuyler?! Essentially, leaving her alone, defenseless, and unprepared in the world?! Yeah, wow, great mother figure. It's not like she allowed herself to lapse into the coma to save someone's life, there is nothing noble, nor admirable, nor sympathetic to me about what she did there.

To be honest, I find Michael and Gabrielle's love story to be steeped in all the romantic tragedy, not Allegra and Ben's. Charles and Allegra have the history, they are the Uncorrupted, the archangels of the light, they've fought the battles together, they've been deceived, their pure love for one another has been tested, it's been used and tainted against the other, yet she continues to ping pong back and forth with her feelings in this book and I'm supposed to buy that her "love story" with this 'Yes Man' human in just one lifetime is supposed to rival her past feelings for her bondmate of heaven?! Yeah, right, give me a break. The idea was laughable to me, I don't care what mistakes or misguided acts of 'love' Charles/Michael engaged in, past or present. I read nothing special about Bendix Chase.

Honestly, to put it quite frankly, I really don't see the point of Schuyler Van Alen having a human father at all. What is the point of her being half human anyway when her destiny has always been irrovocably tied into that of the Blue Bloods, bringing them to their salvation?! I mean, in this book, we have Sky essentially figuring out that she is the new gatekeeper and she's also supposed to be the Key of the Twins, and that this key is actually Michael and Gabrielle's (Charles & Allegra) - yet, how the heck is that even possible if she is the daughter of a red blood?! Totally confusing plot point right there. If it's not revealed soon that Charles is somehow her real father, that is totally screwy, it really is.

Speaking of which - I was disappointed by the diluation of Schuyler's role in this war. While it was interesting to read about Schuyler trying to uncover the gatekeepers and learning that the Gate of Promise is essentially two paths, it felt to me like this 'heroine' became muddied down in the cliche of a female being involved mostly in a romantic relationship. In this book, it felt like her character is mostly all about Jack and about how everything they do leads to them or what it will just mean for them. I used to at least be able to stomach their scenes because of the action that was constantly surrounding them or the storyline leading to somewhere significant: a new revelation that made some sense. She's basically written off as Jack's 'play thing' in this book - his 'mistress wife', and nothing more, while Mimi and other characters like Deming and the Lennox brothers take center stage in this war. They completely disregard her when there was supposed to be this important prophecy fortelling of her being their salvation. Gabrielle's daughter would bring them to salvation. I guess all she's required to do is find a gate and open it, then?! I mean, what the hell?!

Which brings us to Mimi and Oliver and their roadtrip to hell. Honestly? While I found some of the descriptions interesting to read at times, there were other times I found it extremely weird accompanied by a 'wtf' reaction. So in the end, I could care less about it. Seriously, it got boring and it's sole purpose was once again, completely self-centered for Mimi and about the means to an end for a romantic relationship. Now, keep in mind, I love Kingsley as an individual character, but nothing about this trip to hell contributed anything to the bigger picture of the entire story or the war the Blue Bloods are currently involved in. I'm sorry, it was just ridiculous. Mimi loves Kingsley, whatever, another one willing to break a centries old bond. Yet, she still wants to kill her bondmate, okay, not that I care. Truth be told, a small hidden part of me hoped Jack would get it, would die, so I didn't have to endure anymore sickening Jack/Sky scenes saturated with ... 'My love, my darling, my bane of my existence' mumbo jumbo for the reminder of this series. Can you blame me if I actually wanted to see a kick ass Sky get her brain back into gear, in order to show what she's really made of, and to help fight this war to save their people? But I wasn't stupid, I knew the author wouldn't do it! *bawls*

And what's up with the constant interchanging of terminology in this book?! One minute, Silver Bloods (Croaton) and demons are one in the same and then the next minute, Silver Bloods and demons are different creatures in the Underworld?! Supposedly, Sky was supposed to be the only half-blood in existence but now we have Nephilium running around?! Why does the book portray it like Schuyler is something different when she really isn't?! Deming made some speech about how she mistook Sky for one because of her blood, it came across like theirs. A Nephilium is the offspring between a human and an angel. In this story, they're fallen angels (Blue bloods & Silver bloods) but same difference. And I thought Blue Bloods couldn't procreate, so why are Silver Bloods suddenly able to do it and have Nephilium children?! I know Gabrielle is the exception somehow, and Lucifer, but Silver Bloods are Blue bloods, they're just Blue bloods who went 'bad' and stayed loyal to Lucifer after the fall from heaven. Their blood is only silver because they feed on their own kind, the blue bloods. So, I'm not understanding all these contradictions that both this book, and Misguided Angel, introduced. It was already confusing to begin with.

Before, Forysth Lwellyn was revealed as a Blue Blood traitor and now suddenly in this book, he was a Silver Blood all along? I'm not even going to begin to disect all the plot holes this opens up for me from previous books, it'll give me a headache just writing it all down. I can see him upstaging Michael, the great uncorrupted archangel, and pulling the wool over his eyes so to speak as a Blue Blood traitor but for a full blown silver blood to have been so close to him in all these lives and for him to not have a clue, not sense it, really makes poor Michael look like a moron. I just can't buy into it. Gabrielle too, since they were notorious for hunting them down when they once roamed freely upon the earth.

So, Allegra got married by a justice of the peace at the estate of her human beloved instead of in the sanctity of a church like Mimi had originally cracked about in an earlier book?! Okay. *moves eyes from side to side*

The deal: Okay, what's with this deal being made between Lucifer with Jack & Mimi?! I can't seriously believe the selfishness here - they have agreed to hand over their 'souls' until Lucifer sees fit in this war, all so they can break their bond and be with who they want to be with?! Selfish Much! I'm appalled, I really am, they've essentially agreed to reclaim their postion by Lucifer's side and go up against their fellow Blue Bloods all so they can have Kingsley and Schuyler?! My gosh, these idiots! There might not be a life left to live if the Silver Bloods win the war, what kind of life would that be for any of them?! Why should Lucifer even keep his word after he gets what he wants from them, did they even bother to think about that before 'tra-la-la-ing' off to the neverland of hell. I guess Lawrence was right to question the loyalty of the twins and to ask Charles why he had awoken them into this lifetime. Big mistake, Charles. And if Jack really wanted to be selfless, help his people, and save Sky at the same time, he would leave Sky alone, and renew the bond he has to Mimi so Sky wouldn't continue to get sick and they can fight this war together with their combined strength. Give me a break, there was another way besides this selfish route they've gone.

I gave this Book two stars, meaning just okay, only because I'm holding onto a little bit of faith, hope, whatever - that the final book will bring closure to alot of these questions I have about plot and characters. Also, because I was curious about Charles and Allegra's separation, I can't say the book was a total waste. However, with that said, the book did feel mostly like filler. We really didn't get anything new, no good closure on any open plot points, and the book felt like it was mostly about stupid broken bonds (no, I don't think the bonds themselves are stupid, just the stupid storyline justifications for breaking them).

Lost in Time is the sixth installment within the Blue Bloods series. In this, we are still following the same people we've been falling since day one. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Jack or Mimi, these two have definitely grown on me. It's better now because they aren't making me cringe due to them no longer making out or whatever. Plus, I liked see Jack and Schuyler getting to hang out without worrying over Mimi.

Then there's the whole hell adventure to save Kingsley which was highly entertaining. I'm just hoping that I continue to like these two in the next book because it would be super annoying to flip flop back to hating them. Also hoping their little plan ends up working too. I have a feeling it will hit a few bumps along the way but these two have to have a plan - right?

In the end, I'm slightly excited to see how it all ends.

I'm slightly surprised to say that I really like Mimi now. I hope her and Jack's plan will work so they can be happy. And Schuyler better find that gate! I liked that Allegra's story continued in this from after where it was left off in Bloody Valentine. Overall a good progression of the story. I'm really excited to read Bliss's story next then finish the series :)

I liked how this was split into three different groups of people. We got to see Schuyler and Jack, trying to figure out the gates and enjoy the time they have together before Jack must fight Mimi. Then we have the unlikely pairing of Mimi and Oliver, who travel to hell in an attempt to free Kingsley. This was the most interesting to me because Mimi goes back and forth between making you like her and reminding you why you shouldn't. I also liked how hell worked and the trolls and other creatures down there.

Lastly was a surprise to me. We saw Allegra and Bendix (aka Steven) reunite after high school and how she and Charles broke their bond. There's also a new mystery of an illness that I think will factor big time into the finale. I can't believe I'm almost there!

Can I just say how much this book is The Bomb Diggity? I mean really, it is da bomb! OK, first off the plot line. Man o man, was it good. I have never felt right at home when reading this book. With every turn of the page, I felt the energy flowing between my fingers as I delved into this world. Everything is at its own time and nothing is left out.

The characters of this book are right where they are supposed to be and them some. So many new changes, both good and bad, had me smiling. I love the fight they all had. All of the characters fought for what they believe in. They didn't back down or give up. They were willing to sacrifice anything to get what they wanted. There were also a few plot surprises that left me breathless. I mean, I stand amazed after reading this book and well, I'm sure after you read it, you will feel the same way.

The love interest in this book is even more enduring. The emotions, heart-ache, and selflessness is over flowing in this book. I love that Ms. De La Cruz, gave her readers a magnificent few of great descriptions of everything. I really felt like I was in the story, traveling the world, fighting for those who I love, and most of all, fighting for myself.

If you have not read The Blue Blood series, you need to! This series goes from good to holy freaking awesomeness batman, in 5 second flat! Ms. De La Cruz amazes her readers, captivating them in her great and wonderful writing. Once you are in this world, there is no looking back. And with the surprises that Ms. De La Cruz throws at you, it is no wonder all of her readers always come back wanting more!

This is the penultimate installment of the Blue Bloods series. I can’t really discuss plot without spoiling the other series, but suffice it to say that Jack and Schuyler are happy (for now, but for how long?), Mimi wants to get Kingsley back and we start learning more about Allegra’s backstory from her own narration.

The next book should be incredible—a final showdown between Blue Bloods and Silver Bloods, AND with the addition of a player we learn about at the end of Lost in Time. (I know that sentence is annoyingly vague, but I can’t spoil it.) We’ll learn the rest of Allegra’s story, I’m guessing, and hopefully Bliss will show up again.

I’m not sure why I love this series so much, but it is the most fun of guilty pleasures.

If Melissa de la Cruz’s website is accurate (which is a safe assumption), the next and last book won’t be out until January 2013. I hope it’s a typo but I’m afraid it isn’t.

Wow... I am so addicted to this series it's kind of scary. Kingsley and Mimi I ship a lot. I really feel bad for Oliver. And definitely, the ending was a bit of a surprise. But a nice surprise. And the twins... Yay! Twins!

This book was a bit of a mess, but I've read worse? I’ve realized that my issue with MDLC’s writing, is that the pacing is just a bit off. Her stories move quickly which is great because they make for really fun/fast reads BUT unfortunately they are lacking where some more details and explanations would be appreciated. It just leaves her stories (at least in terms of this series) feeling a bit underdeveloped.

In this installment to the Blue Bloods series there are three different points of view and it takes a very, very, long time to understand why they are all in the same book. Characters act pretty ridiculously, and a lot of the events felt like they were thrown in for a wow factor. This was a lot of filler to lead up to the conclusion of the series, and while it was relatively entertaining it felt unnecessary until the ending when there was magically an explanation that had everything “making sense.” By that I mean they tell you it makes sense even though I'm still not sure if it does or not? This is where my previously mentioned desire for some more details and explanations would be nice...
The saving grace in this book were the chapters with Allegra, it was really refreshing to have her point of view thrown in and to get some explanations for her story line. Everything else about this felt pretty old and recycled. I’m looking forward to finishing the series but at this point I’m not sure if it is because I actually care about what happens next or if I just want it to end? Like I said earlier this was entertaining but it just wasn’t anything special. The last few books have felt like a completely different series from the first four, so I guess I’ll see what the conclusion has to offer me. *shrugs*

One may wonder why I read the 6th book in a series, but I have a perfectly sane reason for doing so. This and the 7th book were given to me and one day I got bored and started reading.
Extremely easy to get through. Everything made sense, didn't feel as though I was missing vital information.

Good book!

P.S. What happened in Florence??????

What happened?

After enjoying the previous books, I ended up flipping through to see what happened in this latest installment. The characters have changed either to whiny teenagers or teenagers who act & speak as though they're eighty years old. I felt like character development was halted in this book.

In the other books of this series the plot usually quite fast but in Lost in Time the storyline is just so dull, boring and predictable
Unfortunately, I probably won't bring myself to complete the series, which is a shame, since the beginning of the series had such great potential.

*Original Review Below*

Lost in Time is the last book in the series that I read back in 2012 and for some reason that is completely unknown to me, I gave it four stars. Now, I will admit that the parts in the underworld with Mimi and Oliver attempting to get to Kingsley Martin and bring him out were interesting, but that was kind of the only part. While I do think that de la Cruz wrote the emotions that Allegra was going through as she attempted to do what was right for the Coven and what was right for her heart, all the back and forth between her and Charles was rather annoying. Jack and Schuyler continue to be a waste of page space and Schyluer is literally useless in every situation she finds herself in. She is always a damsel in distress who talks a big game and can never back it up. I am going to be happy to finish this series.

There really wasn’t a lot of progress in this novel besides the storyline with Mimi and Oliver. The sections with Allegra and Charles was all information that we had heard before and were hardly exciting. Schuyler and Jack had been looking for the same gate for three novels now and at the end of the day, the gatekeeper actually finds them. Deming is hardly part of this novel as more than a plot point. It is all just so…pointless. The sections with Mimi and Oliver were filled with emotion and a goal that they were constantly working towards. I wish that they would let Oliver move on from Schuyler, especially after the witch rid his blood of the venom from when she fed on him, but this is a YA novel after all. I like that he brings out Mimi’s humanity and ultimately it is her friendship with Oliver that leads to them all getting out of the underworld. Do I think the fight between her and Jack was pretty cool, yes? Do I think it was over too soon and it was a bit ridiculous how it all ended, also yes? Mimi is so worried about the Coven, but then both she and Jack leave so that they can “be with the ones they loved” as if Mimi hadn’t just forgotten her love moments ago because she sold her soul. As if Lucifer wouldn’t have a way to keep their loyalty. Don’t even get me started on the fact that a non-fallen angel was able to help out for whatever reason, but told no one who he was or why he was helping. However, we are in the end game now and I am sure more ridiculous things will happen before the novel is over.

I didn’t finish this novel that long ago and I honestly can hardly remember anything about it. The thing that I find most frustrating about these books is that the ideas are very solid and could be extremely interesting, but the execution is just not there for me. Luckily, it is just one more set of short stories about the Hellhounds and Bliss and the final novel. I will not be reading the new series that, from the synopsis, seems to rehash the same story over and over again.

No thank you.

*Original Review*

I am giving it four stars, but that is only because the sections with Mimi and Allegra outweighed the annoyance I have with Schuyler and Jack's relationship. I really love how all the other relationships are portrayed in this series, but I honestly can not stand Schuyler when she is with Jack. Honestly, she has turned into a whiny heroine that needs her man to do anything and the only time I really liked her in this novel was the last chapter in which she was reunited with Oliver and without Jack. However to finally get the story between Allegra and Charles was wonderful and that was what really kept me reading through the novel. It also gave me a better opinion of Charles, which I didn't know if that was possible. I hope that we get her point of view in the final novel as well.

I miss Bliss and really hope she comes back for the final novel even though I know she has her own spin off series. I wanted more of Deming as well after she was instrumental in the last novel, but I know it is hard to get everyone involved. Mimi is easily my favorite female character in this novel. I think the reason I like Mimi so much is because she isn't a perfect character. She still has her self-centered way of thinking, but she has also grown so much since the beginning of the series that you see she isn't a bad person. Her and Oliver have this interesting friendship that makes me love Oliver even more and shows that Mimi is a good person and had a heart. Her and Kingsley are by far my favorite couple in the series and I really really really! want them to have a happy ending. I want a happy ending for Oliver as well, but I have a really horrible feeling that she isn't going to get out of this series alive. Schuyler is annoying now and I can't really stand her anymore. Now that she is back to traveling with Oliver I hope it will be better.

The ending of the novel has me very excited for the last novel. I have a feeling that this might be one of those series that when I look back at it when things are all said and done I will be a little less harsh on it. Right now I like the series, but it isn't one I would read again. Schuyler was likable while she was at school but now she is terribly annoying and hope whatever happens in the end makes her a agreeable character again.

5/10. Not great, not terrible. I missed Bliss, instead, we got the story of Allegra. Or at least, its part. Honestly, I'd like to know how Stephen died or how she fell into coma more than her whole love triangle thing.
Can't believe I'm saying it, but I actually like Mimi, and also Oliver. They were amazing here.
Who wasn't amazing? Oh yeah, we all already know. Jack and Schuyler. Boring as always.

much better than the last book, i still miss the more straight forward narrative of the earlier books.

i love what mimi is becoming, and doing. i miss bliss and want her own book now. i thought the inclusion of the beauchamp witches was possibly a little forced, but i didn't mind so much. the whole catherine of siena thing annoyed me.

yes, it's a set up book. and it's lame that it's setting up for a book that is over a year away from release, but it's not like we haven't had this before . . . though i really hope the page count is up to wrap up all these threads. like the fact that lawrence is gone. and where gabrielle went. how bliss and sky came to be. what the hell is up with michael the uncorrupted. etc. etc.

this series is starting to feel very surface-y, if that makes any sense, which is slightly upsetting because in the beginning i loved it precisely because it WASN'T surface-y. the jack/sky romance seems phoned in - seriously, one of the only things that has me reading is because the author is doing such a bang up job with mimi, and because i want to read the next book with bliss.

i know i'm going to have to reread it before 2013, so i almost wish i had waited.

still, for fans of the series, it's definitely better than bloody valentine or keys to the repository.

About the Book:
It's near the end of the Blue Bloods series, and the action and adventure is heightening with each tale. In this book, we follow three different stores. The first one revolves around Schuyler and Jack as they continue to seek out the Gate of Promise. In this story, they continue to have issues with the bonding link. putting more pressure on Jack to figure out what to do. Then, in Mimi's story, she and Oliver travel to Hell to retrieve Kingsley's soul. The final story is set in the past and follows Allegra as she battles her heart and tries to do the right thing.

Review:
I have to say I felt pretty mixed about this book. Part of the book was action packed and gripping while other parts ... well, not so much. Easily, my favourite bit was Allegra's story, and I constantly found myself itching to get back to it. Although any Blue Bloods fan knows how her story ends, it is interesting to see how she got there. I also found myself believing in Allegra's struggle, unlike Schuyler. Schuyler's struggle for the forbidden love felt weak at best -- and contrived. I never felt that the relationship between Charles and Allegra was just a story. They seemed more real to me to the point that I felt pity for Charles' heartache and anxiety as fate seemed to push Allegra into a doomed relationship.

Now, with relationships on mind, I'd like to focus on Jack and Schuyler. This is a story that tasted a bit bland to me. It had enough spice to not dislike it completely, but it was definitely not a favourite dish. For those that complained about the lack of romance in Misguided Angel, don't worry, you get it here. For those of you, like me, that rather skip it, well, it makes the story drag. I cannot say this enough, but their relationship never felt real to me. Even from page one of the first book, it felt forced, and I knew I was never going to enjoy their subplot. I grow weary of them constantly worrying about each other and how they simply cannot live without the other. This over the top crap is making me think hormones more than love. I can't even say I was overly fond of the nonromantic plot. It started out well enough - she and Jack are trying to find the keeper for the Gate of Promise, and they even run into some venators that are on a mission. By the end though, I wasn't quite as satisfied. There is one point when the Chen sisters and Schuyler get kidnapped to become brides for either demons or silver bloods, and it was through all of this that I kept rolling my eyes. It all seemed so generic evil. Apparently, most demons were hideous (heaven forbid that demons be something different), and Schuyler is lucky to be given to a handsome one. Dehua's apparently looks like a toad. Then, the women who beautify the girls are given the impression that they are gaudy and tasteless. The "wedding dresses" that our girls are given are even scandalous and a bit slutty -- definitely no class. After all, demons can't like classy things. This generic evil just irritated me to no end. There was one more major aspect in this plot that grated me as well.

Lastly, we have Mimi's story. Again, it started out well enough, but left me more and more annoyed as the story went on. As stated in the book summary, Mimi's story follows her into Hell as she tries to retrieve Kingsley's soul. Like with Schuyler's tale, I ended up having issues with Hell and its residents. Melissa de la Cruz tried taking the non fire and brimstone route for Hell, which I am not complaining about. I am always eager to see what ways people interpret Hell. Well, what Melissa de la Cruz did was interesting. In her interpretation of Hell, she has it where instead of pure torture, everything is just slightly off all the time I have to say, I actually liked this idea, and I think it would grow on you after a while and turn you a bit mad. My problem with this was this seemed to be the only bad thing Hell offered -- even with the lower levels. Seriously, the worst thing Hell has to offer is being mildly uncomfortable? I just don't buy it. Then, we have the generic evil once again. The one I recall most from Mimi's story is the demon girl that decides which souls get to enter this club. Not only is she evil just because, but she even has horns and a pointed tail. Can you get more cliche than that? Now, I may be pickier than most about my angel and demons since I study them. However, if the story is interesting enough, I am willing to give leeway to the author. All throughout the series, I have found myself aggravated by several things related to the angels, but I found myself enjoying the story and was willing to put my mishaps aside. However, I was not able to do this with Melissa's version of Hell and the generic evil.

However, a not-so-bad Hell and generic evil are not the only things I disliked about Mimi's tale.

Now, it may seem that I disliked most of this book though that is not really the case. Sure a lot of things in Lost in Time grated me, but I still found the overall story arc enjoyable. This was definitely my least favourite Blue Bloods book, but it was no where near bad enough for me to start hating the series. Plus, there were still aspects in this book that I did like. I fell in love with Allegra's tale, and I am dying to know what she did back in Florence. Why was Charles keeping it a secret? De la Cruz also had an interesting intake on Hell. Sure I had some problems with it, but again, it had an uniqueness to it. Plus, Lost in Time was a fast paced read for me (for the most part), and don't feel it was a waste of my time at all. Hell, I'll still end up buying the paperback version to add to my collection. In general, I don't think it would be too weak, but for me, it felt too cliche, and I felt that de la Cruz could have come up with a better evil and less easy exits. It had a good plot, but a poor execution, making for an all right to decent book.

The only light to this book were the Allegra and Ben chapters.

As per par for this series, it needed quite a bit of editing. The characters were too interchangeable because there’s about eight or nine narrators in there if not more. Then, even though it’s very Christian-forward, she used this second-to-last book (of the original series) to introduce new cultures, some she frowned upon and divvied up to fake or demonic, others she turned into a fallen angel which sort of worked until other stereotypical things happened. I found this extra alarming considering it’s an author of color and yet she went out of her way to remove any characters of color from her main cast until she borrowed from other areas. Also to wait until the end of the series to do this just made it all feel additionally rushed.

One more to go. I will not be reading any of the spin-offs or the later ones.

Very good, very good. The storylines and relationships have gotten very complex in a pretty enjoyable way. De la Cruz has really set things up for an insane finish. Loved her ideas of Hell, I was always really into those chapters and I’m glad the POVs switched back to every chapter.
