I'm a bit disappointed in this novella. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I have come to expect from this author. I normally really enjoy Susan Sizemore's Primes, and the last couple books have been her best. Unfortunately this one wasn't that good.

A reclusive author who writes bestsellers has sold the movie rights and is making a quick trip to LA to meet the actor. This actor has been hinted at for several books, and I've been so excited for his story, but it fell flat. The romance was limited to a few intense moments where it seemed like no one else was in the room but the H/h, and a few texts back and forth. My problem with the texts is that it felt like 3 or 4 texts are supposed to represent weeks of flirting and sexting-but we never get that. We just get 3 or 4 texts.

The charming gorgeous actor Jimmy charms the standoffish thirtysomething author and they text/flirt, she knits him a sweater, then each has a slightly psychic situation where they realize the other needs them. Jimmy goes from California to Missouri as quickly as he can, they have a lot of sex and the end. No really.

It was choppy and I didn't feel the romance. I'm sad to say that it was a big disappointment.

It's been a long time since my last book in this series so I started with a novella. It was good. Now I have to read the 3 last volumes.

When Prime (vampire) actor James Wilde meets his bondmate in author Athena Blaise and when he is thwarted in his pursuit of her through the mental channel shared by bondmates, he is going to have to court her in the old fashioned mortal way - well make the the new high tech mortal way, texting and Skype.

This was a fun little Prime's connected short that works. (For those who follow the Primes, James is Tobias' brother and appeared in Primal Instinct.) Sizemore holds off on the biting and sex and solidifies the instant connection between bondmates by developing the relationship at a distance, and the 'story' that James tells Athena to begin to prepare her for the truth about vampires also serves as a good intro to the Prime world for readers who are new to Sizemore's series. When the steamy stuff finally happens it is quick and intense and not overly detailed which actually better fits the length of the story.

I was happy to have stumbled onto this and I can't wait for the next novel Primal Cravings which features Yakov Piper, one of the Dark Angels.

I haven't read a Vampire Primes novel in a while. I read the first 3 or 4 and really enjoyed them. So, when I saw this as a special Kindle deal, I jumped on it. Sadly, I was quite disappointed. Maybe it was because it was a short novella with little plot. However, be that as it may, I think that if this had been my first introduction to the Primes universe I would never go back.

Sadly, this author could've done better.

Thena is an author who meets actor James Wilde briefly before heading back home, but there is an instant connection. This is because, as James knows, they are bondmates. He does his best to maintain communication with her and keep their connection while living a country away. But it's difficult because subconsciously, Thena is fighting their psychic connection. He seems to be making progress, but he realizes he still has to find a way to tell Thena that he's a vampire.

This was a sweet, sexy little romance. Finally we have a Prime who manages to be alpha but also damn respectful of the woman he's falling in love with. He doesn't just take a bite or force her to be with him, he woos her, he waits for her and he treats her like an individual with a mind of her own. I liked James a lot. And Thena was also very likeable and easy to connect with because of her semi-geeky nature. I do wish that there had been more interaction between them and scenes of them together and a little bit less of the "text speech" conversations.

Cute story

Well developed romance with entertaining characters. Well edited with the exception of some missing commas. A few formatting issues that makes a page here and there look odd...but other than these minor issues it was a very enjoyable story.

Primal Call by Susan Sizemore

A Primes novel. I tripped over this by accident. I like Ms. Sizemore’s Primes series but I had no idea this was coming out. I think this might be the best one yet. I love that the Primes universe is a matriarchal society. The Prime, James Strahan aka Wild Jimmy Wilde, isn’t in the traditional alpha male business like cop, soldier, or corporate mogul. This Prime is a hot, sexy, leading man type actor. Athena Blaise is the author of the book the movie he is acting in is based on. She lives on a farm in Missouri and he works in LA. Her people figure a photo op with the folks doing the movie would help sales of her books. She thinks Jimmy is too young for her and he has the problems of distance and celebrity to deal with before they can get together and even address the vampire issues. This is grand fun.

This story was cute and not what I would normally expect to come from this series. It was almost like a really nice contemporary romance, but the male lead just happens to be a vampire. Dunno how else to put it, lol.
Also one of the things I liked was his familial ties, that whole family is starting to be a lot more interesting I'd say. I look forward to Ms. Sizemore being able to get to this series again.

Ah yes Primes. I do enjoy this series. I tend to forget about it until fictfact reminds me that there is a new one. Which is sad considering that this is one of my favorites. This novella was a little rushed towards the end but the main part of the story was wonderful. I feel like it was really just a teaser though, as now I am anxious for the next full length Primes novel.

Primal Call equals awesome

This is not my first book from Susan Sizemore and it won't be the last. James is an actor, as Prime and has found his bond mate. She is a physic from a family of physics. She writes books so thinks that's all she is. Love this book and the way it ends gave me a good feeling. Happiness in reading is an awesome thing

Short novella from the Prime Vampire series. This is one of the first series I read when I started with PNR and I still enjoy them. Those Primes are so rampantly macho and so totally devoted to their girls. This story follows the usual format.
