I own this but it is not the most comprehensive rhyming dictionary I have ever used.

I own the 2003 reprint of the 1991 edition.

It may seem ridiculous, but this is one of my favorite books, ever. I have bought it at least eight times, having worn out edition after edition. I keep one copy by my bed, one in my studio, and one in a vacation cabin. It's great for poetry and song-writing (my main use).

I love that it includes common phrases, as well as individual rhyming words, and I find the way it is organized so easy to follow. Love it!

I've checked out several different rhyming dictionaries over the years, and this is my favorite. It's well organized and comprehensive. The rhyming words under each rhyme are ordered by syllable, one-syllable words appearing first, then two-syllable words, etc. And what's really great is that entries are not restricted to single words, but phrases are included, as well. For example, under the rhyme 'ENT' you get things like 'came and went', 'heart's content' and 'age of consent' in addition to single words like 'unspent' and 'underwent'.

I'm not a huge fan of the phonetic system used to spell rhymes, but I would guess any English-language book would be the same. And at least it's clear and consistent.

I participated in National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) this year. I didn't want my rhymes to be run-of-the-mill or boring so I checked out several rhyming dictionaries from my library. At first, I thought a book with 85,000 words would be better than one with 65,000 but I was wrong. It all depends on how many of those words are useful to you. This book was by far the easiest to use and contained more useful words than any of the others. I love it! What I like best is that you look up the sound you want to rhyme (like 'at' in cat) rather than a particular word. So, if you are looking for more rhyming words then I would highly recommend this title.

This book is quite helpful whenever I need to improve a rhyme in any of my various rap careers.

I am an amateur poet and songwriter who finds this book incredibly helpful whenever I am fishing for a rhyme. It's got many rhymes that one might not obviously think of when you are stuck for a word to finish a stanza. I've had this book for years and still dip into it often.
