This was a fun read and a good conclusion to the arc. I feel I must note that these books are post apocalyptic science fiction and as such are full of action and not much else. Even. so, the main characters are compelling and you find yourself rooting for them, while the action and main concept embroiled you in and. you just need to keep reading ... I know that this series is only for hardcore science fiction fans and it could be quite boring for all others ...

A fantastic ending to a fantastic trilogy, this books wraps up many loose endings for not just the trilogy but the series in general.

And really you couldn’t ask for more from this book - from the opening battle with the Mags from Cobaltville where the Traders freaking war wag makes a triumphant return, to Beth Li’s treacherous plans to vengeance to the team Jumping to the final lost earth, where man has shed the Archon chains and taken to the stars, this books got it all.

Excellent world building here, especially for the alternate earth, where Kennedy is never assassinated, and the archons plans for nuclear destruction are thwarted by determined humans.

I loved the subtle and not so subtle nods to Star Trek here- (I know what JT stands for Grant !) - and I kept expecting DeFore to drop a “I’m a doctor not a…” at some point, but I digress.

Thrush is fully explained (and done away with) as well, shocking me with his origins of just beings program that ran because everyone believed in it. Some heavy Star Trek style metaphysics going on in this one, but all of it serving to wrap up the arc.

Beth Li finally gets hers as well, courtesy of an enraged Domi, and then first ten outlanders ends on a high note, leaving the future wide open for whatever comes next.

Some parts of the book were exciting. Some parts were funny. Overall it was basically an alright book. Loose ends were tied up and I felt sort of sorry to see Beth-Li go. But damn was Domi a beast fighting her. The pool scene was amazing at the end.

A nice rewrite of an old Pulp character. Recast more in the James Bond spy mode. Good quick men's adventure read. If you are looking for some fast paced action and adventure then this is a recommended read.
