Nora Roberts is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than 200 novels, including Hideaway, Under Currents, Come Sundown, The Awakening, Legacy, and coming in November 2021 -- The Becoming -- the second book in The Dragon Heart Legacy. She is also the author of the futuristic suspense In Death series written under the pen name J.D. Robb. There are more than 500 million copies of her books in print.
The second book in the "Once Upon" quartet tells the tale of a magical pendant, and how it unites two fated mates. A h who is in search for happiness and approval, an artistic H who is as cynical as he is curious, a mystical necklace, a deserted island, loads of magic and a sweet ending.
Allena gets stuck on an island very far away from where she is supposed to be working for her sister. Conel is a reclusive Irishman whose island she lands on. She decides it is fate that they get together. I really enjoyed this light romance with a little bit of magic in it.
Actress did a great job with the accent but had a harder time with the male voice. Overall she did great. The storyline however is fairly standard, good enough to entertain me in a drive but not so good that walking away from it was difficult.
A short and satisfying read from Nora Roberts. Just when I think I've read everything this author has ever written, I find a hidden gem like Ever After. I'm a big fan of Nora's 'magical' stories. She has true talent in making fairy tales come to life on the page. Some brilliant lines in this book that show the depths of her skill with words.
Ever After was originally published in the anthology, Once Upon a Star, which features novellas by Nora Roberts, Jill Gregory, Ruth Ryan Langan, and Marianne Willman. It was recently released on audiobook. There are only 3 discs so it is a really fast listen. It was a nice little story about fate and destiny with a bit of a supernatural twist thrown in to the mix. Elaine seems to be good at nothing, yet in her search for finding a place to fit in, she gains a ton of knowledge about a lot of things. She just needed someone to point this out to her. This is where Connall comes in. He has hidden himself away on his family's island trying to ignore his destiny. I'm not sure I bought into Elaine falling in love with Connall after like 5 minutes. I believed Connell's reluctance to buy into fate a bit more.Still, I liked them together and was rooting for them in the end. If you are looking for something light and easy to listen to on your ride into work, try this one out.
2020 I liked this one more than I liked Spellbound because it felt like the characters had more time together. I suppose, in reality, they had only a few days, but it felt less like instalove and more like a real relationship. I still wish it could have been a little bit longer, but I suppose that is a wish I have for almost every book I read (unless I really, really hate them).
A lovely little Irish based magical read. I thoroughly enjoyed just switching off and reading this. Suspend belief and believe what the fates have in store for you. Conal is a famous artist/sculptor. He was lovely and broody. Conal was determined to fight against his heritage and choose his own fate. Allena was just so likeable. There is nothing wrong with being able to make a home, lots of people do not have the knack for it. Her families treatment of her was disgustingly wrong but I can imagine over achievers would be like that. Read years ago and reviewed. Review missing.
I liked this one better than Spellbound. Still a paranormal tale of a really grumpy hero with selkie ancestry and a happy-go-lucky type of heroine who has never been able to hold down a job. The insta-love on the heroine's part is a bit hard to take but does jibe with her personality.
Another short novella from NR for the Once Upon anthologies. I think having Justine Eyre narrating also helped.
Always a Nora Roberts fan. I almost always never fail to enjoy any book by Nora, so it was a huge disappointment having to read this. I did not find it captivating at all. It lacked the 'Nora' touch that always gets me hooked to her books. I have read about falling in love at first glance, except this one did not fit at ALL. The ending seemed rushed to me and the whole book was a huge let down. If I could give it a less than one start I would
This was cute in an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object and they both magically fall in love kinda way. Which, is exactly what happened. Listen, just go long for the ride in a La Nora magical realism, okay. I would have liked to see Allena give her awful family the what-for, but eh....
Better than first Once Upon a.... but still a really quick read. Anthologies are not my favorite but I did like these two characters and their stories.
J'ai étonnement bien aimé ? Certes, la relation va vite, les scènes sont parfois assez surréalistes tellement elles sont clichés, mais je ne peux pas dire que j'ai passé un mauvais moment.
