Get ready to be surprised and delighted by these “spirited” cats in a manga series the whole family can enjoy.
A collection of comics about mythical pet cats and how their unique abilities affect their relationships with their owners.
I think there were just 1 or 2 new additions in here (Obariyon, the piggybacker, is one I don't remember from previous books, and Uwan, who is somewhat disturbing) and the rest are continuing adventures with old friends. These comics are the perfect cozy read to me. Light humor, cute concepts, and you gain a little bit of knowledge of various Japanese mythical creatures.
Notes on content: Language: None that I remember. Sexual content: None Violence: None Ethnic diversity: Humans are Japanese LGBTQ+ content: None specified Other: Uwan makes disturbing faces at people to throw them off and those faces are disturbing.
As far as I know....this is the final volume (at least as I write this) of Yokai Cats. It has been a fun romp and I actually don't have much to add to what I have said in previous reviews other than its a joyful experience. It continues to read rather quickly...which is not a bad thing, but just know you will not be cuddled up under a blanket reading this for a whole evening. That said, the format is great for picking up and putting down. You do not need to have read any of the previous volumes to enjoy this one and I think this is the type of book you pick up every few years (or after reading 30+ other books) and just enjoy it as if it was brand new to you for the first time. Obariyon's stories were my favorite in this volume!
For whatever reason, this was an especially cute and enjoyable volume in this series. It introduces some new yokai cats that are mostly quite fun, and the stories it tells of already established yokai cats are cute. It just left a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling.
