Here come the new yokai cats!

You would think the premise would get old...but it doesn't. Really cute series!

Another collection of short comics featuring cats with some yokai attributes (cloud-like cat, cat who loves to wash azuki beans, super tiny cat, mercat, etc.).

I think there were only 2 or 3 new cats in this volume. I don't remember seeing the kage onna/shadow cat before, or the korpokkur/super tiny cat (It was so cute!!! I want one!). There were a few others that might have been new, but most of the cats were ones that have been introduced in previous volumes and are just having some new adventures. A lot of the comics revolve around everyday life activities that could be complicated by a cat with magical/mythical abilities. It's a cute, lightly funny, cozy read.

Another fun volume is in the books. This book probably is how others feel about the Garfield comic strip in the newspapers. It's fun, beautiful but probably a bit repetitive...and yet those who enjoy it don't care! I found the section for the cat named Azuki-arai to be repetitive from previous volumes and yet was still my favorite of this volume. That is a very powerful formula to have a reader know what is coming and still enjoy it so fully.

Remains enjoyable, but I felt like in an effort to expand the number of different yokai used as inspiration, some of the choices are not all that distinct. Like the zashiki warashi is just a cat that resides in an inn, nothing supernatural about it; and the amanojaku is very contrary, which is the stereotype of cat behavior, wanting attention when you aren't interested, refusing food until you take it away, etc.

Super cute as usual and I like the shadow cat and the tiny cat as new characters! Too bad volume four didn't arrive on time but I couldn't resist reading this one.

So, so cute. What a nice palette cleanser. Some new cats, lots of the oldies too. Pick this up now!
