Vernon Felps est un fermier qui s`installe sur la prairie. Tout va bien jusqu`au moment où un troupeau de bétail détruit la propriété du fermier. Vernon va à Cow Gulch pour discuter avec le propriétaire du troupeau qui s`appelle Mr Casey. Mr Casey ne veut rien entendre et c`est à ce moment que Lucky Luke aide le fermier à se défendre. Il l`aide à protéger la propriété du fermier et de sa femme contre les employés de Mr Casey. Pour protéger la ferme, Lucky et Vernon mettent du fil de barbelés tout autour de la ferme. Pour se venger, Mr Casey réussit à détruire une nouvelle fois la ferme. Luke fait réunir les fermiers de la région pour se battre contre Mr Casey. Les fermiers finissent par entourer la ville de fil de barbelés et ainsi empêcher la ville de s`approvisionner de l`extérieur. Mr Casey finit par accepter de faire passer son troupeau à côté de la ferme Felps.

About the author

The Belgian author Morris (full name Maurice de Bevere) is best known for his humorous cowboy character, Lucky Luke. Morris started his career in 1945 in Le Moustique, creating various covers and illustrations. By the end of the 1940s, Morris met his colleagues Jijé, Franquin and Will. These four artists would be called "The Gang of 4", because they all worked in Jijé's studio at that time. The first episode of Lucky Luke, 'Arizona 1880', was published in L'Almanach Spirou 1947, and was later continued in Spirou. In his early 'Lucky Luke' comics, Morris was greatly inspired by animated cartoons à la Disney.
In 1949, Jijé took Morris and Franquin to the US, where Morris met Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman, whom he helped with their plans for Mad Magazine. He also met René Goscinny in the US. In 1955, Morris returned to Europe and collaborated with René Goscinny on 'Lucky Luke'. Goscinny wrote the scenarios of over 35 stories, which led to the great success of the series.

De veefokkers drijven hun vee door de prairie op weg naar de markten en de slachthuizen. Maar er komen nieuwe pioniers: boeren, die de grond willen bewerken en groenten en fruit kweken.
De veefokkers houden echter geen rekening met de boeren en drijven hun kuddes dwars door de velden van de boeren.
In ons verhaal gaat het vooral om boer Vernon Felps. Hij tracht eerst te praten met Cass Casey, de voornaamste veefokker, maar als hij geen gehoor vindt, besluit hij zijn land te omheinen met prikkeldraad. Maar prikkeldraad is in het Wilde Westen zo goed als een oorlogsverklaring. En nu is het de beurt aan Lucky Luke. Kan hij vrede sluiten tussen beide partijen, en zo ja, ten koste van wie en wat? Een over en weer getrek begint....

Dit vond ik echt een goed verhaal, vol humor en toch realistisch.

This is probably the most morally grey story I've read, at least thus far. The distinction between heroes and villains is still fairly clear, but the former can get stubborn and a little vindictive, and the latter - while kind of jerks - are really just looking to keep their trade going and are more than happy to come to a peaceful agreement in the end.

I'm not opposed, especially when it manages to still be quite funny.

Luullakseni "Piikkilankoja preerialla" on ihan ensimmäisiä lukemiani (hahah) Lucky Lukeja, enkä ihan huonosta albumista pikkupoikana urakkaani aloittanutkaan. Etäisten laaksojen mies -henkinen tarina lienee sarjan parhaita teoksia, joka on jättänyt tuttavapiirin arkiseen kielenkäyttöön muun muassa erinomaisen kahvinkeittoreseptin.

Bauer Kraut hat in Washington ein Stück Land im kaum besiedelten Westen der Vereinigten Staaten erworben, wo er sich nun mit seiner Frau niederlassen und eine Farm aufbauen will. Doch der Wilde Westen gehört den Rinderzüchtern. Sie respektieren Kraut und seinen Kaufvertrag nicht und treiben ihre Herden weiter über die frisch gesäten Felder der Neuankömmlinge.

Kraut hat eine Idee – er zäunt seinen Besitz mit Stacheldraht ein. Stacheldraht? STACHELDRAHT! Eine Beleidigung für die Rinderzüchter. Es kommt zu einem Kleinkrieg im Land der Gesetzlosen. Da kann nur noch Lucky Luke helfen!

Always a pleasure. Not quite as funny as, say, The Wagon Train, but entertaining nonetheless. The Cinebook sequence differs from the original published sequence, but I suppose with books like these it doesn't really matter. I'm just curious as to why this is the case.

Anyway, as a spoof on the old west, the Lucky Luke series is pretty cool. The "spaghetti westerns" of comic literature, if you will. Fans of Asterix especially should take note, as René Goscinny is the writer of the Lucky Luke books (they were illustrated by Morris).

Hoy sí, uno de mis -sino el- álbums favoritos de todos los tiempos de Lucky Luke. Alambradas en la pradera, cómo se llamó en español, cumple al 100% la NVT (Negro Viglietti Theory) y rescata un aspecto por completo histórico cómo fue la guerra entre ganaderos y granjeros a medida que el salvaje oeste pasaba a ser menos salvaje y directamente se urbanizaba -o al menos campizaba- al empezar a tener praderas privadas, plantíos y -el problema en cuestión- alambre de púas señalizando los terrenos y, por tanto, los límites. Esto aquí queda representado en dos formas de vida -incluso, posturas estéticas: los obesos ganaderos, los delgados granjeros- que van a chocar irremisiblemente. La diferencia, claro, es que unos -los débiles- van a contar con la inestimable ayuda de nuestro vaquero más rápido que su propia sombra. A un argumento perfecto -es notable todo lo que mete Goscinny en tan pocas páginas y lo mucho que logra- se le suman una serie de chistes maravillosamente efectivos -la lista es interminable, pero valga destacar todo lo culinario (el famoso potaje de legumbres, los muchos chistes sobre carne, etc.) y el maravilloso momento de Jolly Jumper esperando bajo la ventana y cuando pasa lo que pasa. Los personajes, todos, son maravillosos y Goscinny logra algo fantástico que es que el lector logre empatizar con todos, en uno u otro momento. Y el dibujo de Morris está en un nivel absurdo, de un timing de comedia inexpugnable, que logra secuencias verdaderamente magníficas (no da para mencionar todas, es todo el libro, pero vamos al menos con una: la estampida que arruina el baile de los granjeros contada a través de todo lo que se sacude dentro de la casa). En mi Top 3 de libros de Lucky Luke, sin duda.

Mit is mondjak? Ahhoz képest, hogy nem voltak benne a Daltonok nem is volt rossz kis történet... Egy klasszikus vadnyugati marhahajcsárok vs farmerek ellentét természetesen a végletekig kiélezett poénokkal és egy meglepő, bár azért borítékolható megoldással. Plusz pont, hogy benne volt Nagypapi, a polgárháborús veterán, akinek még a kerekesszékben ülve is helyén van a szíve! :)

POPKULTUROWY KOCIOŁEK: Lucky Luke powraca w 29 tomie kultowej serii komiksowej. Tym razem przyjdzie mu zmierzyć się z problemem, który podzielił mieszkańców prerii i grozi wybuchem otwartej wojny. Na środku bezkresnych równin pojawiły się bowiem zasieki z drutu kolczastego, a spór między hodowcą bydła i farmerem zaostrza się z dnia na dzień. Lucky Luke, jak zawsze, będzie musiał wkroczyć do akcji i rozwiązać konflikt, zanim dojdzie do tragedii.

Fabuła Lucky Luke: Zasieki na prerii osadzona jest w realiach Dzikiego Zachodu, gdzie spory o ziemię i zasoby były w rzeczywistości na porządku dziennym. René Goscinny sięga więc do autentycznego kawałka historii i łączy go z dużą porcją przemyślanego humoru, tak aby każdy czytelnik (niezależnie od wieku) mocno zaangażował się w lekturę tego tytułu.

Obok czysto humorystyczno-rozrywkowej strony komiksu, autor porusza tu problem konfliktów społecznych i pokazuje, jak ważne jest poszukiwanie kompromisu i rozwiązywanie sporów w sposób pokojowy. Pojawia się więc tu charakterystyczna dla cyklu odrobina głębszej treści, ale bez zbędnego nachalnego moralizatorstwa......

Another story that explores the type of thing that really did happen in the old west. On one side you have farmers who want land to grow their crops. On the other side you have cattle owner who want to drive their cattle to market and think that they can drive their cattle over land despite the fact that farmers now own some of it.

The story then revolves around farmers vs. ultra-rich (and ulra-fat) cattle owners. It turns into basically a type of war, including the frequent tar-and-feathering found the series. Luke, though, has his own way of doing things and wants this all to end somehow with both sides finally getting along.

مثل همیشه فقط می‌توانم بگویم به‌به! واقعاً جذاب بود. مثل همیشه اینکه لوک خوش‌شانس دارد یک کاری می‌کند و وفقط وسط یک چیزی نیست خیلی بهم می‌چسبد و البته مثل داستان‌های دیگرش به بقیه کمک می‌کند و مهم‌تر اینکه بقیه هم بهش کمک می‌کنند. دشمنانش خنگ نیستند و همه دارند تلاش می‌کنند اتفاقات به نفع خودشان بیفتد. داستانش را خیلی دوست داشتم چون مثل همیشه حس می‌کردم یک رگه‌هایی از واقعیت درونش وجود دارد و این جنگ‌هایی که بین آدم‌های کله‌گنده و آدم‌های معمولی می‌شود همیشه برایک خوشایند است مخصوصاً با این تصاویر و رنگ که مثل همیشه واقعاً چشم‌‌نواز است.

Un muy buen rato. Tomando elementos del clásico vaquero que tiene que ayudar personas que no se pueden defender en clásicos westerns, Morris y Goscinny usan los clásicos clichés del género y lo aplican de forma cómica con excelentes resultados.

Muchas de las secuencias fueron sorprendentes. Especialmente las que hacían la historia más lenta a través de la tensión.

This is about the rivalry between farmers and cattlemen in the Wild West but I guess it's also one of the oldest rivalries in the history of mankind. Lucky Luke sides with the farmers who are bullied by the cattlemen and the rest is comic book history.

I remember reading this book as a kid but only now realised it's a parody of Shane. The line "Cass Casey, like his peers, thought about meat, ate meat, was meat..." made me laugh a lot when I was a kid and still does.

Barbed wire on the prairie is my favorite Lucky Luke album. Cass Casey is one formidable but at the same time funny opponent for Lucky Luke.

The album depicts the antagonism between ranchers and farmers in wild west. Vernon Phelps, a farmer, is getting tired of cattle destroying his crops and wants to bar his cottage with barbed wire. This is casus belli for the ranchers, and especially Cass Casey. Vernon can't find wire in the town because of the rancher's boycott, luckily though for him Lucky Luke will travel to the east to get some. After many quarrels ranchers and farmers will eventually get along, with the help of Lucky Luke.

The adventure has many funny characters such as the old soldier in the wheelchair who doesn't miss a chance to scold the new generation going soft. Even Lucky Luke is not exempt from his criticism. Most of the dialogue is also hilarious, like when Cass Casey wonders while eating his steak that it's really odd that the cows are so delicious, yet herbivore and another rancher responds "well, nobody's perfect".

Decent. Interesting to see how any minor confrontational situation in the Old West can be used as the basis of an entire book, without seeming forced or draggy. I think the Lucky Luke series has just surpassed Red Dead Redemption as the definitive Western - it's brilliant. You get so immersed... it's done for cowboys what Asterix did for what would otherwise have been a very unknown (or one-sided) period in history.

i really love Lucky Luke comic magazine, it's been a long time since i read it, if i'm not wrong this series is telling about Lucky Luke with his horse Jolly Jumper are hire by Felps the Lettuce's farmer to protecting him from Cass Casey the rancher, who want to own Felp's land.

αυτός μάλιστα, είναι Λούκυ Λουκ της προκοπής. Με υπέροχο χιούμορ, κοροϊδεύει όλα τα στερεότυπα που μπορεί να φανταστεί κανείς, ενώ δεν λυπάται ούτε τους υποτιθέμενους καλούς της ιστορίας. Οι ατάκες είναι η μία καλύτερη από την άλλη, ενώ το καλαμπούρι του υποσκάπτει κομψά την αφήγηση
