4.4 stars.
*sigh*
So. That was a disappointing ending.
Or, more accurately, a non ending.

I really should’ve seen this coming, but I ignored all the signs and decided to just hope for the best.
Yeah, nope. Not my brightest moment.

The big Thing they were working toward is concluded and they’re together. But a lot of things are left unanswered about the quint. And the next books of the series start with a new quint.
Connected to these original characters, but wholly different.

Now, the author says there’ll be chapters where we get Calli and the guys again, but I’m really not a fan of that kind of thing.
I want a self contained concluded series. Where we get all the answers, to at least the important things, before moving on to the next band of characters.
I hate that shit.

I liked all the things happening in this last book. I really enjoyed the previous books. And I was excited with where they were going.
And then it was just over and we have to get second hand knowledge with little bits and pieces here and there from the next books.

I’m just not down with that.

I’m not gonna be reading anymore of the books.
Now I’m just frustrated and disappointed. I need a palate cleanser from this. STAT.
The ending of this just put me in a bad mood.

3.25 Stars

After much deciding I give this 3.25 stars. The last 20 pages of the book were very good and exciting. I really enjoyed them.

The other parts (in my personal opinion) were kinda boring, unnecessary (filler in my opinion), too much smeggsy time and some of the plot was kinda wonky.

I did like some of it though. The connection between the guys was my favorite, some of the fighting scenes and I’m very intrigued as to what is going to happen with Keyla.

When I can I’ll purchase the next book in the series. I believe they’re about Keyla, Doc, Creed and her harem overall.

I’m excited about Keyla's story and finding out about Riley. I’ll continue the series, not immediately but I’ll do it jeje. Overall this was not bad but some of it was cringe and what I already said earlier. I did enjoy it though.

It’s late in my country and I’m very tired so, toodles! Sorry if this was a bad review I’m very sleepy and overall tired jeje. Have a good one.

Series overall:
I liked it. Didn’t love it…, but I liked it. The heroine is a little annoying throughout, but you kinda get used to her…sometimes…kinda… ¯_ (ツ)_/¯ The main reason I liked this series is because there was a lot of fast paced action… and it was filled with a lot of steamy, sex scenes.

Now with that being said, I have a few gripes with it. First off, while I loved the sex scenes, there are quite a few where I thought, “Really? Now? This is place in time where thought it would be good to drop your pants and literally start fucking around?” There always seemed to be something going on but that stopped them from finding some way to drop their pants in a middle of a crisis.

Second problem…Stop saying “hundy.” Yes, it may seem like a minor thing. But after hearing it like a hundred times throughout the series, it got real annoying, real fast. Just say hundred. I’ve said it twice now. Not that hard to type out. And the author does this with a few others too. Like nakey. Just say naked.

Third and most important problem… I have soooo many questions. This the last book to Callie’s (the MC) story, but the series continues with the story of a secondary character, Keyla. First, no offense Keyla, but don’t care. Second, there are quite a few things that Callie and her men never found out (and some things I just don’t like) . There were also some grammatical/editing errors and some instances where the point of view wasn’t matching up with what was being said. Editing errors playing throughout the series, but they definitely get worse the further in you go. You can definitely tell the author was rushing and trying to get the last book done and out, because it had the most errors and the messed up POVs.

All in all, liked the action part of the story plot and the sex scenes but definitely not continuing with Keyla’s story.

Not gonna lie… the whole build up until the “main event”, so to speak, was dope… I couldn’t wait to find out what happened, hence me binging the five book series. With the upcoming “main event” and the 500 questions I had going into this last book, I had high hopes.

Instead I got fed the long-winded version of an okay climactic peak of a story that completely fell flat. With literally 32 hours of build up, and the peak of the plot started an hour until the end…

It started decent, but five minutes later the plot and characters took a nap and ate a snack. Literally. Then… ermahgerd!!! It’s getting good!!!… annndddd…. Okayyy… it’s the end…..? Wut?

I’d guess the next books in the series are meant to entice you to follow the characters, but they’d be secondary to the characters in this case…..

Ummm….

I admit I like the author’s writing style, with exception to the “one hundy” remarks (so out of touch in terms of slang, it sounded so stupid it made my brain hurt… and it happened throughout the series numerous times… it was cringey).

[gretchen, stop trying to make fetch happen! It’s not going to happen!]

The ending was such a let down. I’m bummed, honestly. I don’t know if I’ll get to the next series… and if so, it’ll have to be a fully completed series if I do. After I’m done talking to my therapist about being let down by the ending in a fantasy romance novel series I was emotionally invested in.

The last book is not the last book. So many things wrapped up but so many things left open. So many unknowns, but apparently book 6 will be the first book of a new harem but this quint will be side characters.

I liked that even though they had come together by the end of the last book, they still learned things about each other, still found triggers to sort, it was a more realistic HEA that they are working on (well, realistic for a 5-way relationship!)

Well, this was disappointing for me. It's not the last in the series, as the next book looks to be about Kotah's sister (a secondary character in the series to this point), and not about the Phoenix (Callie) & her guys. This book ended off with a HEA (so to speak) for group, so could be considered an end for the series about the phoenix and her RH. But this felt very rushed in places in the story and especially at the end. It left me unhappy with the whole series in general & regretting reading the series. I definitely wasn't interested in Kotah's sister, so won't be continuing on with her book.

So I very much enjoyed this series, but I'm sad that this is it. Yes I know we will get to continue the story but it's through Kelya's POV and truthfully I don't care about her. I want to know about Riley and I don't see how we would have the same connection through Keyla. What were all those people being held hostage for, what was Hawk's dad and half brother up to, who was poisoning the prime? Hell, I wanted to see Hawk and Callie in the playroom. Also, I don't have any issue with just m/m but I felt like it became more about the guys than the guys and Callie. I don't wanna watch Callie and the guys from the outside.

Shifters, Fae & Magi/RH MMMM/Enemies to Lovers & Mate bonds

SYNOPSIS (of 5 Book Series): This series is set in the modern world but where the supernaturals hide from the humans. There are 5 Books in this series but it is part of a longer underlying story arc with the first 5 books intended as a self contained story. Years ago there was a civil war in Stonehaven (the Fae world) and fae escaped to the human world before all the portals between the two worlds were closed. There is a prophecy that when the time is right a phoenix will be born with shifter mates from each species (wolf, bear, hawk & jaguar) who will open the gate and reunite the two worlds. This 5 Book series covers a human (Callie) becoming the Phoenix, meeting her mates and their struggle to open the gate against opposition and attempts to stop them. There is a HEA for this group but Book 5 sets up the basis for the next series in the larger story arc.

These books are well written on the whole and well edited. The overuse of the word “Gawd” instead of God got on my nerves a bit though! The heroine is likeable and ballsy but the author, in my view, seems to go over the top in describing her as white trash which label she never really seems to overcome. The MCs are all strong and individual and there is a good amount of world, character and relationship building which means that the story flows organically. There are also some great humorous moments. However, take this as a warning (more detail below) Book 5 (if you get that far) leaves you with multiple unanswered questions and a let down of a climax.

On the sex side, the sex scenes are very hot and better written than a lot of these scenes usually are. There’s a fair amount of MM sex and the amount of sex scenes seem to ramp up as the books go on, especially in books 4 & 5 where I felt there were just too many and ended up padding the books out and sidetracking the story.

I was rating these books as 4 stars up until book 5 which makes me want to revisit my ratings but I won’t. The reason is that the build up was good with a lot of drama and things happening to keep your interest and the plot was constantly moving and developing. That led to a lot of questions and open issues which I expected to be dealt with by the end of Book 5. Unfortunately that was not the case. That, for me, ended up impacting my enjoyment of the series as a whole. After wading through 5 books you expect a strong climax and answers to outstanding questions. That did not happen.

You find out who the Black Knight is in Book 4 but he does not make an appearance until almost the end of Book 5 where he appears briefly and then is gone in a handful of pages. It’s an incredible let down. You don’t get any answers to why he did what he did, where he got his magic, what happened to his other son or why he held fae captive. You don’t find out who was behind all the assassination attempts on the quint or the attacks on Kotah. It was as though an attack or event would happen and then the quint would move on and never bother to discover who was behind it, how the Black Knight always knew where they were or how he managed to do the things he did i.e. the poisoning. For me it was very lazy writing. It was as though the author wanted to throw in all this drama and create tension but couldn’t be bothered to then explain how everything came about. Finally, what on earth was that all about Adahey and Raven? No answers to that either.

In a nutshell, well written and developed , could have been a great series but incredibly disappointing climax. I won’t be continuing with the series as it is just too frustrating.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

I can't believe it's been five books already. Guardians of the Fae Realms (originally name Guardians of the Phoenix) the stories have just flown by. I excitedly looked forward to each new book in the series because I loved the series so much. Nothing has made me laugh so hard, spark tears, and brought about such high enjoyment. The Guardians of the Fae Realms is truly one of my favorite series.

There is just something about this series that calls to my heart and Jaguar's Passion is another great addition to the series. Everything has been leading up to this book, the quint is together, five become one and Callie is ready to open the portal. In true fashion, the quint gets attacked, kicks a little butt and things are just overall crazy and confusing with sexy fun times through in.

Calli has come a long way since the first book, she has accepted her quint, her wildling side has grown stronger and things are lining up in a very good way. Calli finally has a family that she loves and that loves her, she trusts more openly and is very protective of her mates. She is learning more about her new magical world and is a very active and key participant in the missions.

The guys are all great (love each and every single one of them), most of the major issues in the quint have been overcome and they all just work so great together. Something new to me is that this is a group mating, everyone loves everyone equally while they do have different relationships with everyone in the quint, everyone is loved and respected and have emotional and physical intimacy. I can see how this would be a difficult thing to write but Madore did a fantastic job explaining and exploring the group's relationship. I love how things weren't perfect all the time but they worked at it and supported each other and showed their love for one another, it was so special.

As for the story in general, all of the books in the series have certain qualities that just make it perfect for me. The world-building was good (could use a little more info about each group but I'm a nerd that way), the characters were amazing, complex, and relatable. The plot flowed smoothly across all books accumulating into this book, everything made perfect sense, things come full circle. There serious moments, great action, emotional moments, and had great laugh out loud moments. This series was pure entertainment that made my day every time I read it.

As one story ends another begins. I am not quite sure how this series is going to work out but I think Jaguar's Passion is the end of the story being focused on Calli and the rest of the quint. I believe it's gonna start to focus on Keyla's harem but hopefully, Calli and the guys will be present too. Jaguar's Passion ended nicely but is open for so much more and I am ready for it. I love that the series is continuing and I can't wait for more adventures in this world, with the characters that I have come to know and love.

It’s time. They are bonded. Calli has mastered her phoenix. It's time to open the portal to StoneHaven and reunite the realms. Not everyone wants the portal open, however, and their lives are on the line. They have come too far and have too much to lose to fail now. Happily ever after is within sight.
This final book of the Guardians of the Phoenix turns out not to be the finale after all. While one story arc ‘sorta’ wraps up, another starts. I understand what the author intended but this was not a good ending. For any reader who faithfully worked their way through the first five books, there should have been a firm conclusion. Not only was the ending unsatisfying but it comes across as a money grab. While I would have gladly picked up the next series had it been hinted at or just introduced at a later time, I am now hesitant. I assume the next series won’t have a true ending either but will lead into yet another series. Readers like to feel as if they matter more than sales and this approach belies that. It would have been much better to give this cast of characters the send-off they deserve and wrap up their storylines. Kotah’s reign, Hawk’s company, Jaxx and Brant’s future plans, and Callie’s mysterious disembodied bestie.
I’m going to use this final book to review the series as a whole. I know it was marketed as polyamory and it truly is. Unfortunately, I prefer RH. I also felt that the M/M connections (which I love) were much stronger than the guy’s relationship with Calli. Hawk was completely infatuated with Jaxx. Jaxx adored Kotah and enjoyed his time with Hawk. Brant seemed to favor Calli but had the least emotional depth of any of the characters. I was disappointed for Calli. Surrounded by all of these men and it seemed she was valued more for her phoenix and her later condition. Calli as the woman didn’t seem vital to me after the men found each other. I know Calli wasn’t always the easiest to love but she deserved more.

Finally, ‘Evah’ and ‘Gawd’ should be removed from the author’s vocabulary. Each time I heard the narrators say either, I was thrown out of the story due to the cringiness. I suffered secondhand embarrassment for Lia Holland and Gabriel Thorne. Both narrators did a fantastic job with the books. Gabriel managed to give each of the men a distinctive sound, tone, and personality. I knew immediately who was speaking and he maintained character even in scenes with multiple males. Well done!

Not my fav "conclusion".

I'm happy to see a seed for the next group planted, but I would have liked to see more tied off with the existing quint. I also found some spoilery details frustrating:

I don't think I'll continue with the series. Initially, I wanted to see where the plot went, but I don't think I'm actually interested enough to wade through it all at this point.

Spoiler warning ⚠️ this book ends on a cliffhanger and is actually apparently a 15 book series! 🤦‍♀️ I wish I had looked that up before buying the first 5 thinking it was a complete set!

Other than things NOT being over it was a good book. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🐦‍🔥🥵👌 amazing spice, probably more spice than actual storytelling but hey I’m not complaining!

We got confirmation as to the Hawks father being behind trying to tear him down. They killed him but his 1/2 brother is still out there and we never confirmed who was poisoning our Wolfs father.

Our phoenix’s best friend that she’s been hearing in her head was strangely quiet in this last book but we now believe it’s not just in her head but a being on the other end of the portal.

The portal is now open and an evil “Queen” if that is what she actually is came through with guns blazing!
2 dragons and a demonic wolf who we find out is soul mates to our wolfs younger sister. Breaking Doc’s heart the bear shifter was in a relationship with her before she was blindsided by the soul mating.

Our phoenix’s story I think is mostly done here she opened the portal and is pregnant so her story is basically done.

A must read series!!!

Wow what an amazing finish to the first part of this series!!! Never would have guess were the giant tree guys allegiances truly lied. The twists and turns in this book as the conclusion was drawing near were amazing. The surprise for the Phoenix quint was an amazing scene I absolutely loved it!!! I’m so sad for Doc at the end. I can’t wait to find out what is truly going on with Keyla. Hold on Doc your not out yet!!!
Thank you so much JL Madore for writing Calli’s, Hawk’s, Kotah’s, Brant’s, and Jaxx’s story! My emotions were a rollercoaster through this series it’s like I was feeling and living every moment of these books. It’s been a while since I was able to truly emerge myself in a story. You truly brought out the characters and scenes to amazingly I felt they were truly alive. I look forward to reading more books from you! Thank you for being an amazing author!!!

My rating system
* Didn't finish, would not recommend
** Finished book, but would not continue to read series or author
*** Enjoyed book, will read more by same author
**** Highly enjoyed, addictive read can't wait to get to next one
***** Phenomenal book, usually only given 1-2 a year.

This series was between a 3 and a 4. The storyline was excellent, I downloaded the next book immediately. The author did an excellent job of giving the five main characters differing personalities. It's never made sense to me that other RH have all male alphas, or that a polyamorous group of 3-4 males and one female would consist of only M/F sex.
That being said I was disappointed that five such diverse personalities had nearly identical voices that I frequently could not tell whose POV I was reading. Same catch phrases, same overly emotional inner monologue

There’s so much to say about how much I loved this book and this series as a whole, but I’m kinda reeling about the non-ending. :/ I won’t take stars away but it’s really disappointing because the next books follow a different quint and there’s a LOT of unresolved and open-ended stuff with THIS quint that won’t be done justice with just brief glimpses in from another quints perspective.

I’ll probably come back and update when I’ve digested the disappointment because it really is a stellar series and does a lot of things so much better than most RH stories… but ugh. I don’t really like Keyla or Doc? I don’t really have any interest in reading their five books to find out IF things turn out okay for our original quint. 😩

This was entertaining to listen to while I was at work. I enjoyed and appreciated the authors imagination for the spicy bits. However it was really weird when the characters would randomly throw in some slang in their sentences and it was I'll timed and funny/ weird every time. I've seen alot of complaints about the ending of this book and yes they are true. But also that is how they all end. Very abruptly. It could be the end of a chapter and then the voice announces it's the end of the book. If I hadn't bought the whole series as one I would've been really annoyed by it. I presume the rest of the books are a continuation of the series but with different characters. However I feel like they could've done it differently to where the ending wasn't so abrupt.

Really good series - a few little annoying things the MC does but for the most part you like her. I truly hope the new spinoff series addresses some of the questions left at the end of this one but guess I won’t know ‘til I read it. One thing I love abt this iteration of an MMMMF grouping is that the M&Ms have FULL (read: sexual) relationships with one another as well as the MC. It always strikes me as truly unbelievable when an RH is just each guy with the female - theres no way it would ever go smoothly and no one’s pride/feelings get hurt. But when everyone wants everyone else, theres plenty to go around.

3.5 star series

I really liked the first two books. The general plot and conflict are unique and interesting. Here’s the but… I don’t think this series really qualifies as RH.

Mild Spoilers…

The heroine is Callie. At first, the 4 guys are all really into her, but in books 3, 4, and some of 5; Callie’s journey falls to the wayside and the books become mostly MM sex of various combinations. I ended up skipping large portions of the books to get the main plot points.

If MM+ is your thing, you’d prob like these books. However I like the harem to be all about the heroine, and maybe some MMF at times.

felt rushed

This book was quick and felt a bit rushed. It tied up most loose ends but still left room for the next series. Callie fulfilled her prophecy and that’s that. I LOVED that the author discussed how bdsm isn’t for everyone, especially in this group element. What works for one doesn’t work for all. And that even if you’re not okay with it, you’re fine and so is your partner. I knew the bomb dropped was going to happen! I’m glad the author said this quint will have an integral part in the series. I do wish they had an epilogue so we could peek into the future a bit and get some finality of these main characters.

Ugh

So, I figured out why there are ten books in this series. It's definitely not for the plot, this plot could easily be wrapped up in three or four books. It's ten books long because Madore is painstakingly creating a pornographic guide to all of the different ways five people can have sex together. I'm bored. I love reading smut, but it has to be interspersed within an incredible plot. This plot is crap so I'm giving up. Two generous stars out of five stars to Jaguar's Passion.

So frustrated with the ending (spoilers)

The first two books were awesome. Good character development, action, and intimate moments. Slowly the books stopped focusing on the story line and more just on the sexual relationship. There was so little time spent with Hawk's father at the end (immortal and dead in like 20 pages?), Riley was a no show, and then it kinda just sets up to a sequel in the last 15ish pages. I just am so frustrated with the teasing throughout the series with it to end this way for this quint.

Audiobook Review:

This was a great wrap up to Calli and her men’s portion of the series. And the way things ended was the perfect setup to the next series of this world. I was happy with all the story points that got resolved but am also looking forward to getting answers to the few that were left unanswered like Riley, Raven, and of course the new harem and who all will be in it other than Keyla and Creed.

The narration was excellent yet again and I’m happy the same voices continued throughout.

wow

Wow that’s a heck of a story of the Phoenix and the opening of the gate. So much happened in the last 25% of the book my mind is reeling, but it was so good. I now will need to go back and purchase the rest of the books in the series. However I can’t start reading any of them until the weekend. If you’re wondering if the series is good and you should start it and buy the books the answer is unequivocally yes. buy them and set some time aside because you won’t be able to stop reading once you start

Really??

The author mixed up characters' names on several occasions, including a couple of prospective changes. The author can't even keep the characters straight? None of the beta readers caught it? The editor didn't catch it? Seriously? Then there were incorrectly used homonyms and parts where the scenes didn't line up. It's sad that this book was rushed and I honestly don't intend to read any further.

A good read .

In not a prune at all but the first at least 25% of this book is just sex , sex, sex and very repetitive. If you can get through that part then it's an ok read. Hawk has a feeling were to find the portal. The find it, open it , then build the bridge . Inbetween kill hawks dad. The chapters in this one are set out different as well it's fine so you get a point of view from all parts which I really liked.

Ending felt rushed

This is probably my least favorite of the series. It honestly felt really drawn out at times and then all of a sudden it ends abruptly. I get that the author is trying to get the next stage set for the next main characters, but it could have been done a little differently. I also felt Callie was more of a side character in this book rather than the leading lady. It just didn’t flow as well for me.

Didn't expect that ending..

I have to say, I really didn't expect that end and I honestly am not fully satisfied with it. I don't feel like everything was wrapped up, there was still a lot of unanswered questions. It was a bit disappointing honestly. Everything was going great, until the ending. I will still continue reading the series and hope to get closure with the other books.

Hot bot HOT!!!

By this time in the series, readers know about the wild, sexy quint. Now its time to up the ante, and adult positions are forced onto our quint. You'll laugh, cry, change your undergarments, then do it all over again with a smile. This isn't the end for our quiet, but it does pack punch you're not expecting! Five stars for the excellence that is Guardians of the Fae Realms!!!

This is a really standard medium burn reverse harem shifter female heroine type story with 4 mates with a full circle (aka M/M & F/M).

Great story, great sex scenes, great all around writing. It really absorbs you into the story right from the start and it's easily addicting.

Not too sure if there will be a HEA for this quaint or not. Book 5 is the farthest this series is out currently and I believe book 6 will shift over to Katoa's sister as the main heroine. Sadly.
