Okay, so I get all interested in this book, come here to check it out and think cool, I might can win this on Goodreads. Then I go to the giveaway and it's for a freaking year! You have one chance to win one book, but you gotta wait a freaking year! WTF??? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. When I want a book and I don't win it on Goodreads, which is most of the time, I go out and buy it. Most giveaways on Goodreads are between two weeks up to three months. Anything longer than that is just a cheap trick to try to get a higher request rate than all the other authors on the playground. Because of this stunt (and this author likes to do this, put up her books for an entire freaking year) I will not buy this book or any of her books ever. She lost a potential and very interested reader.

Sorry, I'm just really mad about this. I think it's cheap and underhanded.

I need a shelf that says "Will Never Read"

I...I...I just don't know where to begin. This is hands down the worst book I have ever read. Hands down. No competition. Worse than the Hush, Hush series. I've never in my life been so disgusted with a book, what the hell is Gow thinking? Who the fuck read this GARBAGE and thought "Yes, this is a fine piece of literature, let's publish this literary trash, people will enjoy it."

Again, I'm at a loss as to where my feelings of abhorrence begins. Could it be that the foundation of the character Lux is supposed to be this bad-ass demon fighter? Could it be that in 156 pages, she not once showcased that bad-ass fighting ability? Could it be that this silly little simpleton, in 5 minutes time, can "fall so desperately in love" with not one, not two, but THREE guys? Could it be that she had ZERO reservations about making out with all of them and leading them on, even though they were completely clear with how they felt, because she simply told all of them that she wasn't looking for anything serious? Or could it be that she is so incredibly fucking stupid that, even in the mist of a neck deep battle with demons she refuses to help out TWO of her ever so loved mates because she is just captivated by the evil one? Could. It. BE. that even at the end of it all, she has the audacity to not hate, with every fiber of her being, the guy that just destroyed her life, but instead fall even more madly in love with him!? COULD THAT BE IT?!

No. It's not. Although I give the above considerations their rightful nods. What I hate, with every fiber of my being, are the statements of love scattered throughout this book, as if she actually gives two shits about any of the guys she's dicking around. Please let me enlighten you on a few of them:

"but love, especially the love so strong and passionate as the one I've been feeling was still new to me." (this is directed at Brax).

"Unwilling to lose contact with his lips, I leaned into him, initiating the next kiss." (This is directed at the bad guy, Moore).

"Until that moment I'd not known just how much I wanted him to kiss me." (This little gem is directed at Asher)

I can't.

The ending of this epic cataclysm they call literary entertainment left bile in my throat as I was on the verge of vomiting reading the epilogue. I had tears of repulsion in my eyes and a smirk of pure hatred, as I made my way through this read. I hate Lux. she's is a modern day Jezebel, she is completely and undeniably selfish, she's weak beyond means and she is easily distracted by the scent of every boy. As soon as she isn't standing directly in front of one boy, she's on to the next without hesitation.

I have always completed a trilogy or series, as I used to have this incessant need to complete them with a burning inner light of hope that they will progressively get better...

I am happy to announce that I have been cured.

I have to admit, I'm really happy with how Beautiful Beings came out. After writing over 30 young adult paranormal fantasy books, Beautiful Beings is one I'm happy with how the characterization, plot, pacing, romance, and action all came together. The main characters have an intricate backstory, which will all be revealed throughout the series (much like my other series...every book builds on the characterization) - here every main character has a role, and the ending to this one particular 1st book to the Beautiful Beings series will surprise you.

Note: Prior to writing Beautiful Beings, I did not read any YA books with an angel or demon theme. Beautiful Beings was inspired by an incidence I had when I was 19 and met this young man who claimed he was something else other than human...

Okay, so this book is your typical, run-of-the-mill supernatural novel with a touch of romance. The main character is a girl, and she can hunt demons. She has missions assigned from angels and guardians and other supernatural, mythological characters to deal with. Yaaaaay.

Disclaimer: About 0% of this book is anything new, unique, or surprising.

What I found particularly annoying is that - what the hell - every boy seems to be attracted to her and her amazing, gorgeous self. Ha, even with angel boosters here and there, no way is that realistic or believable. They all seem to see her and POOF they're in an insane lustful mode day in and day out. None of them seem to be able to keep their lips detached from hers whenever they meet, and yeah, that was a mood ruiner. Where's the plot?

And you know what else I found annoying? That the story only focused on these five central characters and nobody else. I mean, c'mon, where the hell is everybody else? They go to a private academy, for heaven's sake, and there are bound to be other people besides these succubus/demon/angel/nephilim twins that want to get with the main girl character and her current love interest (I say current because there's no way to tell if she won't go jumping the next boy that comes by). God, that annoyed me.

And so, because of that, the bad guys weren't so hard to figure out.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is my summary: This is a bland, one dimensional story that is so transparent and unbelievable that it's not worth the read. Seriously, while it wasn't horrible, throw-it-out-right-away bad, it was still a waste of three hours of my life.

Gosh, I need that time back.

Yes, the book is about beautiful beings but the beauty may not reach the inside.

Lux has been given a big responsibility since the tender age of two and she is carrying it expertly well. Until she moves across towns and finds some very interesting people around. She’s enamored by three guys and surrounded by demons. Sounds interesting? It sure is.

The mystery of these new people is revealed bit by bit and I found myself surprised as things didn’t go as I had envisioned (sadly I don’t have the gift of farsight, you see).

The book has romance, mystery and some angels and devils all thrown in. The book keeps on your toes trying to understand who’s who. It is all revealed in the end but well, there is so much to be continued.. in Heaven and Hell.

Now to things I didn't approve of. The book reminded me too much of Sweet Venom - the demon slaying, their stench etc. Also I was reminded of Kailin Gow's Falling for Summer where the main character is enthralled by three males (and seriously I don't get it. You can still be confused amongst two but three? Really?). Also, I think the book lacks a substantial plot.

Ok. *deep breath* Here goes...

What lured me to this book was the intriguing synopsis and the wonderful cover. It also helped that I have a thing for angels ever since.

The writing was pleasant, I liked how Kailin Gow weaves her words. They were descriptive but not too much. But even with the great writing, I found it hard to connect with the main character. Even after the book, I felt like I didn't know Lux, like she was just some minor character in the book.

I disliked the fact that the scenes and happenings were very unbelievable. I know this is a fantasy novel but still some things could be at least realistic. One of it was the fact that almost every guy fell for Lux and she was also responding to all them. I didn't know what to make out of her behavior. I also didn't like the conversations, like they were out of place somehow, like the characters didn't speak their age. The pacing seemed also rushed.

But I did like the twist though, I'm always a sucker for a good one. The plot had such a good potential but was just underdeveloped that it failed to reach its full effect.

As much as I love angels and a strong heroine, this book just didn't do it for me which also disappointed me. I was very eager to read this one. *sigh*

But perhaps, I shall pick up the second book and find out if there is hope for it.

Once again I have been pulled into Amayzing Cover bliss. What a waste of a perfectly delicious conver. I love anything with wings, but this, this is a mess. Just a mess. Kailin Gow, I'm sure, is a fairly decent writer if you care more about the story and less about the actual writing. There was nohing that connected me to the actual character, and to me, that is what the first two chapters should do, start to endear me to the characters. I did not connect ot Lux at all, especially with the "My love", she threw out in the prologue, what is up with authors throuwing in the stilted speech. There is a way to keep the speech formal without going into ye ole english. I mean for a girl who is "edgy" her personality truly doesn't match. Just don't let my review daunt you, obviously there are many people who enjoy this book, otherwise she wouldn't be writing a sequeal and I might be a pretentious prick who only reads books with profound meaning and spiritual enlightenment. I just couldn't ger through it. The ending could have been what made the whole thing worth reading, could have held the meaning of life in its pages, I wouldn't know.

Lux Collins finds herself on the move again. Her family is moving from Seattle to San Francisco. Even though it is because of her that they have to move, she is still not very happy about it. What teenager wants to move during the school year, but then again, Lux is anything but your typical teenager. Since Lux was 2 years old, she has been able to see both angels and demons. You see, Lux is a demon hunter and has been charged with that task since she was very young. Her dad and mom both got great new jobs, but the real reason they moved was because of the call Lux has. Lothario, her current guardian informs her that there is much work to be done in San Franciso, but what that involves, Lux has yet to find out. As they are driving into their new neighborhood, her dad slows down to show them his boss's mansion. Lux immediately locks eyes with the boy in the driveway, feeling a connection to him. It turns out that this young man is Braxton Kingsley, who also happens to be the one who shows her around when she starts school at a prestigious private academy. Lux notices that the students at the academy are some of the most beautiful creatures she has ever seen. In fact, at lunch that day, Brax introduces her to Shayne and Moore Hatchett, who are two of the most beautiful beings she has ever seen. Lux feels unnaturally compelled to Moore, who causes her to practically loose all her inhibition, as she is extremely attracted to him. Then again, she is also very attracted to Brax, and the feeling is mutual, something that does not go unnoticed my Moore's sister Shayne. On top of that she meets Asher, and feels an undeniable chemistry with him also. She soon finds out that these three play a much bigger role in her life and in her calling as a demon hunter, and none of them are what they seem.

I typically have not read a great deal of angel books, though I have found myself enjoying them more lately, and was intrigued when I read the synopsis of this book. The main character is Lux, who is a teenage demon hunter. The secondary characters are Brax, Moore, Asher, and Shayne, also play large rolls in the book. Brax is a hottie and immediately has a thing for Lux, and these two wind up spending a lot of time together and it seems as if they are a couple. He is also the first person who finds out more about what Lux is, and in fact, finds himself a bigger part of the equation. Asher is your hot bad boy type who quickly becomes friends with Lux, though he and Lux also have a undeniably electric chemistry between them. Moore is the third hottie in the book, and is a rich playboy type who oozes with sex appeal and he knows it. Shayne is Moore's sister and is really evil, though she tries to cover it up. Lux finds herself attracted to all three of these guys, even though Moore happens to be the one who has the strongest hold on her. While the romance is hot, I did not like the fact that Lux so easily bounced from guy to guy, making out with all of them, yet didn't really seem to feel that she was doing anything wrong, which left me rather disappointed in her because of this. Asher's role becomes clear towards the end of the book, and both he and Brax rise to the occasion when they are all forced into battle. Unfortunately, Shayne's manipulative and evil ways result in a murder, false accusation and imprisonment of one character, and the mysterious disappearance of yet another. I am curious to see where Gow takes the story next.

I struggled with this one. It felt a tad underdeveloped and quite a bit rushed. The beginning held some promise, but as the book progressed I found my self sighing loudly, rolling my eyes, and wishing the story would just get on with it already.

Lux is supposed to be this ass-kicking demon slayer who is forced to transfer to a new school because of the trouble her little hunting expeditions got her into at her previous school. She is told that she will need to find others like her to battle the increasing number of demons populating humanity. She ends up at this hoity-toity private school where she immediately (and questionably) catches the eyes of three apparently irresistible guys: Asher, Braxton, and Moore.

After that, the bulk of the book consists of Lux and her never-before-experienced lust/love for these three guys. She bounces around between all of them fairly easily, constantly wrapped up in someone’s arms or seeing an “overwhelming look of love” in their eyes. At various points in the book, each one has Lux’s undivided attention and makes her absolutely certain he is the one for her. She is so annoyingly flighty that I never figure out what she truly feels for any one of them. The relationships between these characters aren’t solid in the least, and in the end, there is no basis for any of the decisions Lux makes in regards to her certainty of which one is her ‘soulmate.’

All this sketchy romance clouds out the rest of the storyline, so much so, that I’m not sure what the whole point of the book even is. We are led to believe and expect one thing and a whole other array of events occur. The last twenty percent of the book was filled with unexplained transformations, never-ending fight scenes, and lame dialogue that pretty much just explain away everything that was happening or going to happen. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see real villains explaining their devious plots to their victims in detail before carrying them out. Rather than creatively unfolding the climactic end through events and the clever actions of the characters, the author chose to spell everything out in the small span of a couple of pages as if she realized there needed to be a point to the story other than the googly eyes between Lux and her lustful admirers.

I give this book two stars instead of one because the beginning offered such promise for the rest of the book. I was looking forward to getting to know Lux and her past, and I was particularly interested in learning more about Asher and how he came to be. Unfortunately, we never get a glimpse of anything in depth and when something extraordinary does happen to any of the characters we are simply told about it ‘the next day’ instead of actually getting to experience it along with him or her. As I said, the book felt very rushed, seemed to be missing structure or organization, and lacked plausible reasoning for the events that unfolded and many of the decisions made by the characters.

If you can’t tell, this book really didn’t do it for me. It had four stars overall and I can’t fathom why. I don’t particularly like bashing books and the work that authors put into them, but this one seemed to require more work from me to finish than it took for the author to write it. It really irks me that if an author fills a book with sappy romance scenes, then it's considered 'good,' even though the storyline and character development is overlooked.

Wow! This was not very good! Note to self, just because a book is free or loaned to me, doesn't mean I'm obligated to finish it.

By the blurb, it sounded so promising. There were just so many inconsistencies and eye rolling moments.

First, I didn't care about any of the characters. But they obviously all love Lux. Moore loves Lux. Brax loves Lux. Asher loves Lux. Lux loves them. She kisses one, then will walk outside and kiss another. All the while she's thinking about kissing Mr. Third. It's a LOVE SQUARE! But it's not even interesting! It's all about the boys telling Lux how sexy and awesome she is, and Lux thinking that each boy could be the one from her dreams. Literally. Ugh. YA does not have to mean dumbed down. This book was only about hormones, which was a shame because the paranormal premise could have been very good, very engaging.

Let's talk about some of the things that made me roll my eyes. Lux is a demon hunter. She's supposed to be badass (though we never really see it). She's been expelled from school many times (though we don't know why). She says she's a tomboy and wants to blend into the crowd at her new school. To do that, she wears a black leather pleated mini-skirt and a simple white shirt, open at the collar, with a lacy black bra underneath. Yep, that just screams tomboy and blending to me! She says, "I could always spice it up by wearing a lacy red bra underneath, but I wanted my first day in school to be tame, even mundane." UGH! She'll say she's a tomboy, and then in the next breath scream about the "sexy little vixen" inside her. And she wears tight, short, cut out clothes every moment she gets.

The dialogue was a mess. Who speaks like these characters? For example, now remember this is a high school boy talking to a high school girl, "Did anyone ever tell you just how unbelievably beautiful you are? Your eyes are mesmerizing, shimmering like a multicolored opal. From the first moment I saw you, I wanted to lose myself into those captivating spheres."

Or this one, "These dreams are driving me nuts. They don't make sense, being about you doesn't make sense. And now, here you are, like by some cosmic kizbit, design. The real you, with a voice, a funky attitude and a hot bod." LOL! Accept that, teenage girl, with a straight face! Here's another thing, where was this bad girl / funky attitude of Lux's? Missed that part.

And here's a great one, she's talking to one of the guys, who she may love and is constantly kissing, about another one of the guys who she may love and is constantly kissing, "I'll admit there's something completely intoxicating about Moore, and maybe it's just his good looks, unearthly charm or strong and sexy . . ." Oh honey, just the kind a thing a guy who is crushing madly on you wants to hear about another boy!

Now it's boy's turn to turn the tables and talk to mad crush about another girl, "She's tried to hit on me so many times since I've been here, always coming on like some sexual goddess. She thought she'd be able to entice me with her sexual prowess, offering me sensual pleasures and tantalizing moments with her, but it never worked." Who ARE these kids???

Geesh, the quotes (from teenagers, remember) just keep coming. "You're the most darling petulant little boy I've ever seen." "Any bloom pales in comparison to your beauty." "I want you, Lux. I want to possess you, your body, your heart, your soul." All the boys sound the same.

But wait, there is more besides the love square. There's a paranormal plot in there somewhere. Hardly developed. I have sooooo many questions, the biggest one being, where are these Guardian Angels to guide and protect Lux?

I have not read anything else by this author, though I see she has an enormous backlist, most of her books written in the last 3 years. I do have some of the Frost series books on kindle, but after reading this, I'm really in no hurry to read them.

I’m sorry, but what? I couldn’t put this book down. Because it’s short and I knew if I pushed through, I could get it over with quickly. It seemed somewhat promising in the first couple chapters, but quickly went off the rails. I can usually forgive a weak story if the writing is beautiful, or bad writing if the story is good, but this book had neither.

Where do I start? Early on I started to question if the author had ever had a conversation. The dialog was beyond awkward and although I admit I haven’t spoken to most of the people in the world, I’m fairly certain that no one talks like that. Then there were all the incredibly bizarre relationships. Okay so these three super sexy fellas all meet Lux and immediately fall in love with her. I guess I could swallow that. But then Lux is immediately holding hands, embracing and making out with all of them, sometimes one after the other, even though she’s supposed to be this committed demon hunter who has never had a boyfriend? And the guys are jealous, but also just kinda cool with the situation? Oh! and even though she’s supposed to be this tomboy, on the first day of school she rocks a leather miniskirt and a white shirt she purposely sexes up with a visible bra? And wants to wear revealing dresses every time she has the opportunity? Everything is so inconsistent! Including the POV, which I noticed at least in the scene at the auction jumped from first to third person at random.

“Even as you try to slay me you’re irresistible and tantalizing.”

Ok seriously.... I had so much hope for this book. I haven't been able to read a good angel/supernatural romance book in a while so I guess I shouldn't be all that disappointed, but still, the beginning made it look promising. I read the sample on amazon and I decided to buy it. Fast forward about a day and I am not only super frustrated and confused, but I was also seriously deciding if I had the patience or masochistic need to finish it. Safe to say that I kind of did both, but also did neither as I got to almost the end, but I just couldn't finish it.
All of a sudden, the author pops out things that she hadn't mentioned fully before like Asher being a half angel or whatever which left me thinking "oh... and he didn't think of this before?" He just randomly shows up at the auction and is like "OH YEAH! NOW I KNOW WHO I AM!" Also, what I really liked in the beginning was the mysterious angel in the room with Lux, but then all of a sudden, Poof! after years, we don't really hear anything about him and the only thing we hear throughout the story is Lux questioning "is this the guy?" except she does this for EVERY F-ING GUY! I thought the demon slaying Lux would have more balls than to be so wishy-washy between guys. To make it easier on herself, the author should have just made it a less complicated love triangle than a love square that didn't move along that well. After about 3/4 of the way through, I still didn't get why the guys liked Lux (because she's beautiful? okayyy..... because she fights demons? sureee.... because she has the personality of a wet napkin? YES! clearly). Sorry, but she just bugged the hell out of me. Playing with guys and she's always sucked into their looks and their awkward confessions of love and passion (ok, if that were in real life... no wait, it wouldn't be because that's just way too awkward, random, and admittedly, creepy). I didn't really get why the hell they liked her and just from what I could tell about her, she is SUPER shallow and will throw herself at any and all guys/demons/nephilim/angels whatever.
Oh god, reading the author's review in the reviews below made me laugh so hard. I don't intend to be cruel, but it was really funny to me how she boasted about the book when all the review under it talked about how much it sucked. Then she also says something about "When i met this young man when I was 19 and he said he wasn't human" or something was really.... PFFT. If you're a supernatural fan like myself, I'm sure you're always secretly holding out on this belief of otherwordly, beautiful, lovable beings who will sweep you off your feet, but SERIOUSLY when she wrote that in the review, I could help but think "...WTF? is she for real?"

Lux Collins is moving yet again. She’s moving to San Francisco and will be going to St. James. She’s not thrilled, but she’s a demon slayer and often gets in trouble when doing her job. Ever since she’s been little, she’s seen demons…and angels.

When she goes to the office, she’s introduced to Braxton Kingsley. He’ll help Lux find her around the school. Lux isn’t to interested in what he’s saying when he’s giving her a tour because she thinks she sees a demon. When she confronts it, she realizes it’s just a human male, Asher. She’s slightly confused when he tells her to beware of the beautiful beings and that things aren’t what they seem. Lux sticks with Braxton and eats with him at lunch. She meets Moore and Shayne. They are eerily beautiful, but Lux notices that all of the students at St. James are so beautiful that they should be models.

Lux is immediately drawn to Moore, and it seems the feeling is mutual. Braxton notices this and appears to be jealous. As school comes along, Lux feels torn between Braxton and Moore. She seems to like Braxton more, but after an encounter with Moore that leaves her reeling, she can’t stop thinking about him…especially when she makes out with Braxton. Will she be able to get rid of the demons and figure out what Moore has done to her?

I loved this book. Once again, I felt myself torn between the guys vying for Lux’s attention. Asher likes her as well, but I found myself rooting for Braxton and Moore. There are some things that happen in the book that happened that makes me root for Braxton more. That can easily change in the next book, though. I could not stand Shayne. I felt bad for her at first, but now, I can’t really say much more without giving it away. This is another great read from Kailin Gow.

Oh my God, where to begin with what is wrong with this book. The writing is horrible, the author cant decide if she’s writing in third person or first person – and in some cases she’s talking in both in the SAME PARAGRAPH! How did the editors not notice that?
Why is it that every character speaks exactly the same as well? Like they all speak with the same eloquent words all the time, same tone, whenever you could identify any. And I hate how everything is explained, like “ooooh I’m a bad girl with an attitude I’m hardcore” not ONCE is this ever demonstrated in the book. When Lux is fighting a demon there is no description so I cant even picture what’s going on. And she’s always DRAINED of energy after a stupid fight where all that seems to happen is she shouts stupid words at it and puts her cross on its head, like WTH?
And her relationship with the three guys – it’s not even the fact that she has “relationships” with the three guys but it’s just written about so craply. There is no substance to ANY of the so called relationships, the word love is constantly being thrown around like it’s a tennis ball – I’m not being funny, but there is no way she could love ALL THREE of these guys when NONE OF THEM LET ALONE HERSELF have any personality and nothing even happens that I can see that would justify anyone being loved. And everything is so CRINGEY! Proper, grimace on the train and look away from your e-reader because it is that cheesy.
Basically, it was written craply, the storyline was crap, the characters were crap, everything was crap. DO NOT READ IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE.
This is actually hands down by far the worst book I have ever read.

Lux yang harus pindah.Lagi.

Sebel sama endingnya....
Bete kadang ama Lux yg mau sapa siapa aja yg deketin dia dan suka sama mereka sekaligus.

tapi suka sisi ceritanya

Okay my turn. Hmm where to begin..... Before I picked this up I had not read any reviews nor did I refresh my memory on its premise. All I knew was that it had to do with angels. So with that being said I liked how it started off, Lux seemed like a bamf who was a combo of confidence and strength but once the guys were introduced it went quickly downhill. I spent a lot of time thinking "she's so dumb" when I figured out what was going on with the twins before she did. Mind you I understand that she hadn't had much exp with guys but come on. The whole kicking demon ass and what Lothario said should have helped, but nope not here. I understood why the guys all were attracted to her anyone with any sense of the bible, etc knows that people are attracted to the "godliness" in us and being the fact that she had been doing gods work for so long it made sense. Now the way these teens spoke was very unbelieveable. I have yet to come across any teen who speaks so eloquently and descriptivly as they do here. Not saying that it was bad just saying that it was a bit hard to take seriously. Other than I felt the climax was rushed and not put together well it had a whiplash effect of coming out of nowhere and should have been given the attention and detail it deserved.

Alas another Kailin Gow book that I find really enjoyable.
I totally love Lux. I personally would have been a wreck finding out I could see angels at the age of two....let alone to progress into a demon hunter.
I can't believe that her parents are so flipping cool with it!?!?!
Ummmm ...yeah honey we're here for you...suuuuure...LOL

Braxton has to be my favorite of the male characters....Hunk...Gentleman...and has a secret that comes in handy....but in the end it just wasn't enough

Asher is unique and that in it's self makes him the bad boy, hotness that you can't help but love....yet question through out.

I honestly had it in on the twins from the get go....something about them from the start didn't seem right...just saying.....

The story is just a blast reading...it's a whole different take on the angel against demon war and who exactly the angels use as their weapons.
Lux makes one heck of a heroine, managing demons, school, and guys....while still keeping her head on straight....well sort of.
I can't say that I like how this book ends...I did say that I didn't like the twins right???
Thank heavens there is a Book 2 .....otherwise I'd be really ticked off!!!!!

oooookay, i gave this one a two to be fair because i could not complete it, and because the writing isn't as trite as some of the books i read, having said that, the writing is bad, it has weird expressions and is hard to follow sometimes, i couldn't get past the first "exorcism" in which the heroine leaves the boy who is introducing her around school to run after a demon and supposedly exorcise him on the spot, ok 1st, this is someone who supposedly wants to maintain discretion and and not be found as a "demon exorcist" and thrown in a mental institution, right? how does chasing a demon in the middle of a high school probably teeming with students equal discrete, what would have happened if the boy showing her around followed her and saw her fighting with thin air, which logically is what should have happened, it just felt illogical and out of sequence, like she wrote a bunch of random scenes and threw them together, maybe it would have gotten better later on, but i honestly couldn't think so, a writer who has her character say "please forgive my exaggerated enthusiasm" and NOT sarcastically is just not my cup of tea, if its yours go ahead.

This fooled me in the beginning. It started off awesome! I was like YEAH! A good book....then what happened? It's almost like this was the rough draft of a book....You know...before all the details get added. It could have been so much better.
The "battles" with the demons were a joke. The whole drama with Shayne was a joke.
Now, I was under the impression that Lux was supposed to be some kind of holy girl or something...I mean she should have at least been a decent person if she was being visited by angels and sent on missions to destroy demons. But she was acting more like a demon with her whole kiss three boys while she was supposed to be seeing one of them. I was annoyed that none of these boys were bothered by that. Especially Braxton. What self respecting person would be okay with her acting like it's not a big deal that she is off kissing other guys while she is leading him on? Stupid.
I will not read anymore into this series. After reading books that rock my world in this genre, I am surprised this one was even published...(Sorry, I know that is kind of rude...)

I got through about 3/4 of this book and I just had to stop reading it. I usually love Kailin Gow's stories but this was WAY too much. First of all...who has ever heard of a love SQUARE? A love triangle is hard enough to navigate but gosh 3 love interests is just way too much. Also, they were all throwing themselves at her in this flowery, nasty, unrealistic dialogue for teenagers. I still love Kailin Gow, but I don't think I will continue reading this series. I didn't really understand all the back story and there was definitely not enough character development to keep the story strong. Wayyyyyy too many "I love you" and kissy scenes.

I didn`t watch the movie yet because I like read the book first. And I have to say that I don`t understand why was this made into a movie. The story is great but poorly described. Insted of fighting demons everything is about Lux kissing three different guys. Why? Why is this so important? Why didn`t Kailin describe why Lux became a demon hunter, how everything started etc. Insted of the important things that would give all the characters importance in the book everything involves kissing...it makes them shallow. I really am so sorry I didn`t like this because I really was so happy when I first took this book in my arms.

It was a good book. It was interesting and more or less with a appealing plot, only there's two BUT's:

1; but it was too short reading, it should have been longer, then I would have liked it much better.
2; but I don't really like love triangles much less a love square! :D

To tell the truth, I could kind of guess the plot and ending, but still...

And being a big optimist, I just couldn't put in smaller rating, even though my sister(who read this book before me) said that this book is not as good as it seems. She said it deserves only 3 stars.

I want my money back.

I couldn't get past page 50. Everything was terrible: plot, writing, characters, dialogue. It got so bad to the point I was laughing out loud whenever the heroine was about to have an interaction with one of her oh-so-scrumptious lustees [insert excessive eye-rolling]. When I learned I mentally flushed this book down the toilet.

Granted if the story hadn't been so ridiculous by that point, I might have been motivated to power through the rest. But as it stands, I doubt I'll ever motivate myself to finish this crap.

Kailin is one of my favorite authors, but that never changes how I feel about the writing of a book. Kailin pens her characters well developed in this paranormal story with plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading. Other than the character 'Lux Collins' getting me a bit dizzy between her boyfriends, I loved the book. A nice easy read that is recommended for all YA and not so YA readers.
