A must-read book to understand Iranian post the revolution society. She suggests that Iranian society's dynamics more or less are shaping a democracy, a local democracy which has both modern and religious elements. The Islamic Republic has brought institutionalization, rationalization, and individualism via making a biopolitical human and creating a social being. She tells the story of how religion contributed to civil society.
